Marathon maps are notably smaller than Arc and they make sure to spawn everyone close enough together that you will have KOS PVP in the first 2 minutes pretty much guaranteed, unless someone purposely plays like a rat and avoids all contact, praying that there isn't someone camping exfil (75% chance there is). Exfil in Marathon is also out in the open, one time use, and no raider hatch equivalent. Multiple people/teams can technically exfil at the same place all at once but people would rather kill you and rush to loot you in the 10 second window.

I don't think I'd mind PVP as much if it wasn't egregiously filled with some of the most obviously brown sub-humans with less than an IQ. It's not hard to down them even if they get a drop on you in 1v1 and they're turbo-aggressive pavement apes who try to shoot you from across the map the second they see you so there's rarely an "ambush" happening. When Arc gets a new map, I'll quickly load in, loot a box, extract in 2 mins, without damaging players(doing this for 20 mins).Then, I'll run around, jumping in people's face, if they don't shoot me, I'll let Arc shoot me. If I were Embark, and this is just me being an idea guy.If I were Embark, I would attach a rudimentary history flag system to all weapons that tracks if the player using it is killed by players or by the environment. This way the system can differentiate between opportunistic and predatory looting behavior. Then it would have the system track if that weapon is sold or used to kill players, with a report rate tied to the rarity of the weapon. Common weapons are very unlikely to trigger a report, rare weapons are more likely to but it's still not guaranteed. After enough flags the system then tags the player as a primarily predatory PVP player, and they are no longer allowed to use regular extract points. This isn't to punish them, it's a game mechanic. They can either extract through raider hatches or socially engineer their way back to speranza by waiting for some other raider to activate the extract point and extract with them. PvP players who planned ahead and had access to a hatch key to extract via raider hatch will gain access to the "slum tunnels" of speranza which grant access to their own unique merchants who offer unique items and quests available only to PvP players. In order to regain access to the standard extract methods, the PvP player has to pay some sort of exorbitant bribe that scales with player level to buy a "fake ID" that resets their aggression level and restarts the process.Thank you for listening to my tedtalk.

After playing this for ~15 hours, I still feel like I don't have any control over the maps. I don't know what is causing this maybe it's the maze like nature of them or something.

>>561896303Buried city is the go to map outside of stella if you want to improve at pvp with your friends. It's very easy to get third partied in that map so you learn to always stay sharp and how to reset. Some situations are completely unwinnable though, got recently pinched by 3 different teams.
