That article started off with good points but quickly spiraled into shitting on the humor and nitpicking stuff that was clearly done intentionally but calling it bad game design.UTDR humor is just Homestuck-lite, you can say Homestuck humor isn't your thing but it has its appeal.Also the Jackestein fight is genius, introducing a plot important mechanic in a joke fight as a warm up for the more serious Titan fight. There's another game that did this it's called NOISZ STARLIVHT. Basically, there's timeloop shenanigans. The characters' personal conflict is brief and not very touched upon. But in the second loop, this part of the story gets expanded on with a more serious and dark tone. The boss fight is completely different this time(halved halved halved). It's actually unsettling, embodying the real fear the characters feel and explores their inner turmoil, also there's a lot of EYE symbolism like the Titan fight. Does anyone have legitimate criticisms? The game falls back on Ralsei being the exposition dump too much. It gets to a point where we aren't allowed to figure something out from the gameplay or visuals, Ralsei is immediately there to explain it. one criticism in that guy's long review that I agreed with was there isn't enough on-screen action, too often we're just told something happened after the fact and it's clunky. It's weird for susie to tell kris they just bit their hand or that they started screaming after the spamton fight. It's weird for ralsei to just tell kris they coughed or something when we tried to tell him something mean. I want to see that happen. It's a visual medium. Having the characters stand completely still and then having one of them say "oh XYZ just happened by the way" kind of sucks.
