Tried out master difficulty with full simonrim, seems like too much, expert looks like the sweet spot. On master you need like 15 hits with a one handed weapon to kill a level 5 bandit outlaw while he can one or two shot you. I guess if you powergame like crazy to grind out high end gear without combat it could be doable but I'm trying to avoid that. I have no idea what you do with legendary, shit must be like trying to kill an mmo boss solo.
Does it matter where you put setting loaders?

I use tomato's PBR cities although I haven't gotten his windhelm that just released, and I use vanaheimr for landscapes and mountains. it seems to me that the real achillies heel of skyrim combat is blocking and bashing. you can't do much of anything to a blocking opponent other than use a power attack, and bashing is way too fast and easy to perform. recently I used a sprinting power attack on a bandit that had his back turned to me, as soon as I got in range he turned around and bash interrupted my attack instantly, then oneshot me with his own swing while I was staggered.imo bashing causing stagger at all seems busted, it should probably be used to interrupt casting and drawn bows, but full on stagger is nuts. Problem is if you actually try to do that with a mod you would then have to change how the AI works so they don't uselessly bash you.

I also tend to grind out quests with people and nobles if I can. try to avoid doing thief stuff as even picking pockets gets them all be here show up blah blah. same with killing innocent the db just show up in your notes being all do this. but I sometimes join thief just for access to their guild as it does offer some decent things and I dont mind the quests much so its more just join to join for me. I usually just work with mara as thats been my default for awhile now in the games. though you might have something in mind for your character so also look at the quests for each temple and a few other things.as for traveling yeah I tend to do bigger jumps around and camp out and save funds and not speed run to the spot. but I dont do main quest so me being in game for 15 years from travel and other things isnt uncommon. also learn to hit up the small locations a bit as some are just an inn and quest waiting or shop. there's a bit buried in the game.also OG or unity?

I really want to like Skyrim Underground. Or rather the idea of it, a vast underground network within Skyrim sounds like a cool idea. But it exclusively uses Mihail's and Vicn's creatures even if vanilla enemies would suffice and it's also mostly tight corridors and tunnels without much open space. Enemy placement is also annoying and the tuning in general is out of whack.I suppose Sewers 4 is still the go to mod for a somewhat connected underground experience if you get the noob patch for it. Otherwise all the sewers are very late game dungeons with enemies starting at lvl 50 or so.

I played to level 12 and made some notes along the way. Underground goes and is replaced by Sewers.A lot of the clothing/armor mods are basically just useful for taking screenshots, like most modern clothes I have active. Those can be disabled because they clutter up the crafting menu.Also I have some mods active that I didn't know I had, like Outlawer's goblins that camp in Embershard Mine.Next on the testing list is CS. Wanna try how that looks after I've played with Cabbage ENB for a few hours. I'm really surprised how stable this run has been, not a single crash to be found, everything works (mostly, need to take a look at a few FLM mods that act weird) and ReSaver doesn't complain about anything. I didn't get to woo Lerche but next time for sure.
