About Elena's st lk, which was pointed out last thread to be an important poke in her kit:while it may be true at higher levels of play, I'd argue that a diamond level player is far from incorporating it into their neutral game. the move itself is decent, with good range so it's practically made to stuff things, right? it's poking with lights as a tactic that is problematic. it's situational, difficult to know when to do it, and should be reserved for later instead of immediately trying to make use of it. the risk is that you're liable to walk into buttons trying to use it. it would be much better for a beginner to rely on Elena's superior footsies range first. master the use of 1. st hk, st mp, cr mk 2. slide, st fwd hp before trying to stuff people with st lk.like most of your pokes, it's a momentum giver when it hits, having no links or hitconfirmable safe cancels on it. the goal of checking the enemy is to of course deal damage to them for being aggressive, but also to discourage attacking, opening up a lane that allows for raw drive rush or regular overhead.I should note that Elena's raw drive rush performs poorly compared to some others. trying to rely on it to force offense will do little good, but it IS powerful when it's allowed to pass. first you must discourage attacking or get actual frame advantage with good footsies play. then you can move in deep enough to get something going with 5MK or 2LK. drive rush 5LP is your best poke option that may stuff enemy reactions and get decent returns, but it won't really get you in on a defensive opponent. I would say there's nothing wrong with simply not using raw drive rush at all for the time being, not until you feel plateaued at higher ranks. it is not a critical tool.

I come back online later and I notice it was taking super long to get games, when a game finally came up I had a yellow flag thing on my username.
