I never grew up with the classics so I never gave them much mind until I bought a sonic classic collection for ds (it was like $5) and played it on my 3ds. I don't know if it's because I played on the 3ds but I didn't notice any slow down others did while playing. Anyways, I quickly fell in love with Sonics physics based platforming style. The way you can whip sonic around like crazy once you've poured enough hours to learn how is amazing. It's so easy to get into a flow state on speed based levels.Needless to say I was hyped for Mania. When I finally played Mania it completely blew me away. The level design puts the classics to shame. The levels and gimmicks are so fucking well done compared to the classics which always got in the way. I honestly can't go back to 1/2 or 3&K after playing mania for so long. point being Mania is the best 2d sonic game
