is it known when the new shit starts to kick in? do you need to get to a certain point in the msq before the free lanes start working? or has anyone worked out when the new enemy starts to invade or whatever?
I have a few questions. Will you guys be starting a new playthrough when the dlc comes out?How many new weapons are getting added in the dlc? Did shattered space add new weapons? Will there be more dlc after Terran armada?
>>561055869How would anyone know if it's not out yet?
>>561050195The lack of lore books or anything to read does it for me. what were they thinking
>>561058640i was hoping to spawn one of those guys who have played it in the press thing. am trying to gauge whether it's worth waiting until the new stuff releases for a new playthrough, cos new things could be occurring right from the start, or if one can play up until a point before any of it can start. tb.h it was a pretty silly question on second read.
>>561058618>Will you guys be starting a new playthrough when the dlc comes out?I'll be doing a new from the Unity playthrough.>How many new weapons are getting added in the dlc? Did shattered space add new weapons?SS had a couple of "new" guns which were just slightly changed models of stuff we already had, plus a grenade launcher. The video showed a handful (Sniper Rifle, Assault Rifle, SMG, Melee.) I'd expect a shotgun, handgun and some kind of Heavy weapon as well.>Will there be more dlc after Terran armada?Terran isn't the "Starborn" DLC they promised previously so probably.
>>561058618>Will you guys be starting a new playthrough when the dlc comes out?I'll likely persist in my current universe unless it breaks something, then I'll just go through the Unity rather than starting completely fresh>How many new weapons are getting added in the dlc? We don't know yet>Did shattered space add new weapons?https://www.ign.com/wikis/starfield/All_Unique_Weapons_in_Shattered_Space>Will there be more dlc after Terran armada?Yes. Terran Armada isn't even a story expansion and earlier data mines suggests that Bethesda has two more planned. The second one will supposedly involve the Starborn based on a trademark Zenimax filed a few years ago. Todd has also said that Bethesda would like to continue supporting Starfield for a number of yearshttps://trademarks.justia.com/986/45/starborn-98645285.html
>>561059173From what I've been hearing, none of the people Bethesda invited actually got any hands on experience with Free Lanes nor Terran Armada, they just watched the devs show it off and probably gave feedback.
>>561058618i'll be doing a new playthrough. haven't played the shattered space addon yet, and it looks like this next update and dlc is adding more stuff to do, between everything else. i particularly like the coming ability to update gear to higher standards, so all those specially named pieces from quests that were too low a quality to use, can be made useful.

>>561064770Those terran robots look threatening as hell, I like their designs.
Do we know if the Terran Armada are an actual civilization or are they just a space fleet? Do they have a capital system? A city?
>>561066708I feel they would mention if the Armada had their own planet/capital so as far as we know it's just the Armada
>They literally copied Watchtower minus the Fleet system and other cool stuff.Billion dollar company btw.
>>561069531Would probably be a compatibility nightmare if they gave you everything that's already in Watchtower. Terran Armada is supposed to lean heavily into the interplanetary travel Free Lanes adds, so there's that.
>>561071276Bethesda are not beholden to the works of Creation Creators. They can do what they want; its their fucking game. If it breaks a mod - even a paid one (look at Astrogate) - its the creators problem.
>>561075386They kinda are with Kinggath in particular since they collaborate with them on stuff
>>561076456this, kingath is 3rd party official dlc at this point, Bethesda even gave them the fallout 4 voice actors for their new projects and a lot of what they release is literally published by bethesda
>>561075386Besides, Kinggath already commented that he's been given an early look at terran armada and already patched his mods to run with no problems at the update.
>>561076969>kingath is 3rd party official dlcNot a real thing. Bethesda are not going to halt their plans because of a "3rd party official" company. Also, '3rd party official' is an utterly retarded turn of phrase>>561077095>Kinggath already commented that he's been given an early lookJust means Bethesda can override their contributions and give them a heads up about it.
>>561076969>Bethesda even gave them the fallout 4 voice actorsWere they... holding them hostage or something?
>>561077834>Not a real thing. Bethesda are not going to halt their plans because of a "3rd party official" company. That's assuming Bethesda even had plans to officially implement those things themselves to begin with. Bethesda has already bundled the creations of their top of the line verified creators in the anniversary editions of Skyrim and Fallout 4 that even Switch 2 players are able to enjoy, so if someone ends up doing that work for them, you can bet your bottom dollar that they'll ship it as an official release, with their VC's permission of course.

>>561050195I went and downloaded all the shit for Star Wars Genesis, and played through it for quite a while. I have to admit, it's way, way less impressive to play than those youtube videos make it seem. I like Starfield and Star Wars both, but SWG currently is just reskinned Starfield (with so much shit tacked on that the game runs like trash. It was 342 different mods according the wabbajack list) and not the "fully developed faction storylines" it claims to have. It's almost entirely just AI voice line replacement where someone says "empire" instead of "UC" or whatever and nothing else (and the AI voice lines have that really flat obviously-AI delivery in most places making the rest of the line just completely worse than the original). Most of my playtime, I just kept thinking>This quest is better in vanilla Starfield.or>I wish there was an actual Star Wars RPG so I didn't have to deal with this janky halfway mess. The whole thing really just makes me think Star Wars is long overdue for an immersive sandbox RPG, and that Starfield is a pretty good engine to be able to serve up a decent facsimile of that experience.

My Equinox can level up to superior after the update?
Do y'all think we'll ever see a mod to make the Unity more interesting? I never wanted to go through it because a) I didn't feel like my character would wanna leave his qt behind and b) the parallel universes just... don't feel that interesting to me. "Oh this one you're already here and can be your own companion :)" "oh this one you're already here and you're evil"It just feels very surface-level to me; I'd love to wind up in dead-end universes you have to escape from, or ones where say a quest crucial NPC is switched out/not there, or you arrive too late resulting in a bad end for the quest. Make it so you start out as a shoot-on-sight enemy of the Systems. Implementing stuff like colony wars still ongoing or such would be way too much work, but surely there can be more flavorful and thematic twists to make some of the parallels feel a bit more divergent aside from giving you the ability to just choose whatever questpath you want since you can just take a different option next go-round.
Friendly reminder to any new users planning to get Starfield on PlayStation: Due to Sony's policies, you will probably not be able to use every mod available on the Creation Club that's available to PC and Xbox players. Sony's past stance on Bethesda games like Skyrim and Fallout 4 lead to restrictions on mods that uses external assets, including any that uses custom voice acting, like any of Kinggath's creations for example.
>>561064770I never use starborn power, what is that electric power thing?
>>561103778That's a Quantum Essence affect. Right now they only serve to temporarily boost your star power regen, but Bethesda is adding more functionality to them once the update drops (increase the level of your powers so you won't have to go thorough 10 NG+s to max them out.)
Hopefully we'll be seeing the UC and the Freestar Collective engaging in battles with the Terran Armada to really give the impression that there's a big war going on rather than it just being you and your crew engaging in the conflict.
>>561100862the unity is just designed to be an ingame lore reason to reset your save since bethesda save game bloat is still a huge problem for them.

How many new POIs will be added? Bethesda said they added many but ’many’ for them could mean just 5-10 new pois.I think a 100 or so new POIs on planets alongside dozens of new space encounters will give Starfield new life.
>>561173615I doubt it'll be anywhere close to 100. Maybe around 20
>>561173615I hope they come with variations and not just one preset
>>561173808Lets be honest 20 doesn’t constitute as ’many’. Many would be at least 50+Also I think Terran Armada will have more useful and meaningful content than shattered space considering despite its price tag because Bethesda seemed to have made the trackers alliance stuff more worth it.

>>561100862Yeah I don't like the way the Unity works. A few things could liven it up>a limited time to visit, possibly with extensions if you find rare items. obviously this would require travel time to be treated as important by the game>no essential npcs and possible benefits for being a murderhobo like the hunter>for evil players, a reward for doing something nasty to the alt universe, up to the point of basically yanking a sigil stone out and destroying it for your own gainthe latter might be a more interesting approach to your main quest in terms of giving you urgency. but in general, I think the prospect of returning makes exploration more of a reward. The one thing I like about the unity is having to scramble around without gear for a while

>>561208641You're trolling, but in the interests of honest conversation I'm fine with these things. Woke is a continuum, not an on/off switch, women really are in charge of certain things in real life, gays really do exists (unfortunately) in real life, so it just doesn't bother me that much to see them in a game that I generally want to be realistic. I've played it off and on and never actually gotten past the 'take Sarah to Mars' part, waiting on the expansions before I start playing in earnest, but to me it's fine. If I start seeing obvious Sir Ryan style trannies and tranny flags and shit like that, yeah that's a problem but I never really saw anything that pulled me out of Starfield and into reddit.

Steam has the Skyrim creation kit under tools, but the Starfield kit under software. Very gay.
Looking into it, although Grav Drive technology makes it possible to reach other solar systems in FTL speeds in the Milky Way galaxy near instantaneously, it's still not fast enough to survive a trip to any other galaxies. At max speeds, it would still take hundreds of thousands of years to make it to Andromeda, the closest galaxy to us. If Bethesda were to explore the concept of visiting other galaxies in Starfield, I wonder if they'll use wormhole concepts or alien tech for that.
>>561215793They shouldn't do that, the setting is too large as-is. It already won't be fleshed out twenty years from now if they stick to just three or four systems.
>manipulate person skill has 30% chance of success>fails like 90% of the time>cannot even be activated on most of the random crowd in New Atlantis in the first placewhat did they mean by that
>>561195103They should just change the grav jump 'effect' and animation to just be loopable instead, that way they could make transit between system worldspaces work like free lanes so you can do stuff in your ship while travelling if it's a long jumpalso allows modders to add actual travel time to grav jumps
I went and finished the Shattered Space DLC. I was like 75% of the way through it when I stopped playing for a while, and was doing a devout Serpent's Embrace playthrough with a new character. Man, oh man. The ending was dumb as fuck.Seriously, no option to side with Anasko that doesn't just fucking kill you instantly in a cutscene? I went and did the actual endings to see what happens, but it really felt like my character would've been ride-or-die, literally, and ended it there. Up until that point, you have options to choose the Serpent's Embrace stuff as much as you want, and then suddenly Anasko is just like, "lmao no we have to blow ourselves up, including you. It's destiny, bro." Fucking Fallout 3 all over gain. Why couldn't I just kill all the zealots with my guns? I was kicking all their asses just fine. Anyway, I went with restarting the Serpent's Crusade with House Vethaal in charge, and that felt like a good second-best choice. Will probably still just retire the character though. Doesn't feel right playing on them now. Shame too, because I really liked playing a devout religious character, and the other two religions in the game are such "nothing" beliefs that I was really excited to finally be able to go all in on the Great Serpent stuff. Ended up just being a waste.

>>561234820All of them. Had to do some hardcore gaslighting with Andreja everytime I married someone new.
>>561220195Depends on what you're looking for. You only have four characters you can romance right now, and romance in Starfield is more comparable to a farm sim like Harvest Moon, a cleaner and more so PG-13 lovey dovey experience rather than an explicit "let's kiss and fuck on screen" a few times and barely interact with each other afterwards type of experience you'd often see in western games. You can flirt and can get married (you can also engage in polygamy and marry all four of them), but the sex isn't animated and is more so for the gameplay benefit rather than be the titillating cinematic experience you'd see in games like The Witcher or Cyberpunk, which is why you can also do it more often. If you want to see animated sex, there are a few mods for that available.
>>561224847There is, but this comes at the cost of losing access to Petrov's ship as The Hunter kills everyone in it and blows the ship up before you're able to visit it
>>561237321and because you never get access to Petrov's ship, you can't complete that SSNN quest to report news to that lady.It becomes an unfinished quest that stays in your quest log forever...Although I guess "Location of the ECS" constant also stays in your log forever, but that at least serves a purpose.
>>561237186Romance in the game is to tick a box more than anything, I feel the devs didnt want to include it but knew that the exclusion would piss people off so they did the least effort they could.
>>561239214That's honestly less of an issue compared to letting Barrett be the one to die since you can lose access to the Parallel Self power on that playthrough if you didn't interact with him enough to trigger that quest before A High Price to Pay. Of course it's mostly those who chose not to interact with anyone in Constellation beyond what you're forced to that might have that happen to them as Barrett and Sarah will have the highest affinity by default.
>>561239835More effort went into it this time around compared to Skyrim and Fallout 4, the trade off of course is that you don't have many npcs to romance. In Skyrim, it was just do a single quest for a marriageable npc to flag them for marriage, then equip the amulet of mara and get hitched. And in Fallout 4, although you also had to put in the effort to romance them, your interactions with your lovers besides questing with them was asking how the relationship is going and getting a lover's embrace buff when you sleep in a bed while they're nearby. Starfield does a mix of both systems while also letting you make flirty comments.
>>561239871Huh, I didn't know that I let Andreja die anyway She has the least powerful crew skills for ships of all Constellation members.I don't even use Ship-Based Energy Weapons, but if I did, I'd just use Dani GarciaIt's only a 5% difference

>>561245236I like them. I like the Calm/Fury/Fear spells in TES. But they're a pain to use in either Fallout 4 or here. Not only that, it's never a 100% chance to even if you have the respective 3rd tier and the bonus from the internal neuroamp (goes to 85% for Diplomacy). And also, using the scanner for this is janky most of the time. It's just a pain to use it all the time. Compare it to a Novablast where you can zap people to sleep with no points in Incapacitation most of the time.

How do we encourage more ship swapping? I have been thinking of this.Ships should become so damaged that they are unrepairable, forcing you to buy another or steal someone else's ship. Suddenly that encounter with the lone vanguard fixing his ship might sound tantalising to you if yours is barely able to fly & needs trashing at port anyway. And of course there's the loss of your favourite ship to heavy combat so you feel something that no Bethesda NPC can compete with Have any modders tackled this yet? I would like it. I want to spend early game swapping between ramblers n shit. You'd even be doing that late game in a bad situation and high level systems would be deadly to escape if you lost your battleship
>>561260609More activities that require specialized ships. Admittedly, spacetrucking and having all the best ship weapons is both the greatest on type C, but if we have a dedicated ship racing radiant (it's only a rare encounter), keeping a well-made class A is good. I don't know what a type B would be for, maybe a mix of racing + shooting like in KCD2 where you can race on horseback and shoot targets.
>>561260609For this to make sense, your ship would have to be damaged in such a way that it would soon explode and kill everyone on it, therefore they would have to implement escape pods for that purpose. With ships in this game being modular in nature, if it was something as simple as damaged parts that makes the ship inoperable and leaves you stranded in space or something, then you could just later have it towed to the nearest shipyard and have the damaged parts be replaced instead of you having to abandon it altogether.

Next version of Gergel Ebanex is expected to release sometime today or tomorrow, and this will include gay and threesome animations. Time to update my copypasta too:1. Gergel Ebanex-The furthest along with over 1000 animations-Initiated through a gun or setting up a hotkey (gun allows for more furniture picking accuracy)-Allows for blowjobs (currently only for straight animations) and furniture use-Has lesbian and gay sex animations -Has MMF and FFM threesome animations-Does not have orgasm animations-Allows for NPC on NPC scenes-Designed around it, but does not force you to use Robert S body2. SnuSnuField-Second largest animation library, currently supporting 9 positions, no orgasm animations yet-Initiated through stripping completely naked or setting up a hotkey-The least buggy of the three-Has threesome animations (Currently MMF)-Has kissing and hugging animations, including a separate mod option if you don't need the sex-Can perform necrophilia with it (lol)-Does not support lesbian nor gay scenes-Currently not updated for Starfield Animation Framework3. NAF Seduce-Currently has 3 built in animations-Initiated through dialogue after using a consumable-Each position has multiple animation stages, including an orgasm one-Has voices but only for the player right now-Allows for same sex interactions-Designed around it, but does not force you to use Robert S body-Currently not updated for Starfield Animation FrameworkNote 1: Mods that don't support SAF still work under Native Animation Framework, but they will require you to roll back to the November 19th 2024 (1.14.74) update.Note 2: Gergel Ebanex and SnuSnuField currently have a skeleton file capability issue with each other that can cause mouth animations to bug out, most noticeable in SnuSnuField if it's file is being overwritten

How’s the weapon variety and gunplay in Starfield?
>>561354389Base game wise, Starfield has 61 unique weapons. Gunplay is roughly similar to Fallout 4, but more fast paced and fluid. Doesn't have VATS, though the last Jetpack perk makes up for sloppy aiming as you can slow down time a bit while in the air to get a better shot at moving targets.
>>561354389Honestly gunplay is massively improved in Starfield, feels like a real shooter now compared to Fallout 4. As for weapon variety, you get a decent chunk of weapons to use but im looking forward to the new DLC because it'll add more earth like ballistic weapons which is more appealing to me.

I said this back in 2023, if I crave a fallout 4 style game I'd choose starfield instead for the loop because jetpacking & grenade launching in low gravity is fun shit. Fallout 4s settlement building is better though.Gameplay Options also means you can tweak it so you die quickly but so do enemies. Personally I kept damage to enemies on very hard too though. It's an rpg and your damage numbers become obscene and the enemy ai is still Bethesda trash so the damage sponge enemies are the only true difficulty and use for your mass ammo
>>561354389Pretty good. Pretty fun. Easily the best in the RPG department but it's still far away from an actual FPS like Call Of Duty.
>>561354389It’s ok but I don’t like how some guns aren’t viable in the late game.

I got back into the game after the annoucement and I'm already burned out... Like, enough that I'll probably uninstall before the 7th. Like, I've just sort of lost interest in the world of the game? The new gameplay stuff is... fine and all, I guess. But like... the universe is just really fucking boring and I don't think any of the new stuff is going to fix that

>>561411260They just need to develop the lore more and the free lanes update is a sign they are probably going to put a majority of dev time into space content from now on. I think for the planets they will just add more POIs at this point. I would like to see a city size space station.
>>561412000Every time I play this game, I feel like I'm being treated like a fucking moron. The Unity stuff just... it just does whatever. It resets the universe. Also time travel, sometimes. Also you don't die, unless you do, in which case it doesn't matter. Also it can make you jump to another universe and then back again sometimes. One time. And whoever made the unity also made a bunch of floating rocks. They don't do anything. Except some rocks that upgrade your weapons. And your ship, somehow. And you can't take anything with you except for stuff deposited into a box. Also a copy of the Frontier, even if you never got it. Also here's a ship from somewhere, and a suit from somewhere. Cool huh? Don't think about it.
>>561412542Also if you do it wrong, you become a ghost but not exactly. And I guess it all comes from the world of spiders or something.
>>561412542this reads like ai
>>561411260I get bored/burned out on games pretty easily, so I'm holding off on jumping back into starfield until the update and dlc drop, even though I'm itching to get back into it. Have got a CP2077 playthrough to finish, and my car needs a timing belt and full seal kit put through it, so that will easily take my spare time over the next couple of weeks. I do have my Starfield guy planned out though: bounty hunter, with taskmaster, introvert, wanted, with an early run down the ship skill tree to give the space combat more of a go early on. Am dreading that obnoxious UC vanguard quest where you need to fly their shitty ship in the simulator, because I try to keep the game in very hard for the whole thing. I remember needing to kite them around for ages last time I played.

>>561412542Every time I play this game, I feel like I'm in heaven. The Unity stuff just... it just does whatever. It makes Sarah a house plant. Also Cora can be evil, sometimes. Also you don't cum, unless you do, in which case its in a terrormorph. Also it can make you have a horse cock. One time. And whoever made the unity also made a bunch of anime cat girls. They will do anything. Except some catgirls have catgirl cocks. And your butt, somehow. And you can't fuck that Trackers Alliance woman. Also a copy of Boy Pussy #1, even if you don't wait it. Also here's a cock from somewhere, and a pussy from somewhere. Cool huh? You're welcome.
>>561411419The widespread destruction aspect of that will probably be a heavily scripted sequence, but the rest of that is feasible
Lamb explained in a roundtable Q&A. “I kinda wanna say yes, but I don’t wanna oversell it.” While there are some new quests that are purpose built for Free Lanes, there won’t be a host of new additions...
>>561415105Makes sense. Gotta save some shit for future content additions to keep Starfield lucrative for Bethesda over an extended period. It's not like a syndicated cartoon where there's commercials and merchandising that plays a big part in paying for the production
Is /v/ raiding us again, vros?
Looking at what Bethesda is doing in this update/DLC, and thinking about what they could do in another, there's still a few things I think they might do in the future-Robot building/customization like Automatron from Fallout 4-Space stations for outposts-Fuel/extreme environmental stuff for hardcore mode-Starship blueprinting and maybe, though less likely, outpost blueprinting-Mech segments, and space walk segments, though I don't think these would be general gameplay features-Another Free Lanes/Terran Armada style update+DLC that expands upon LIST, and Argos Extractors, fleshing out outpost and resource mining stuff(probably including some of the stuff above)-Starborn DLC that expands on the Unity/TemplesOn top of the generic more weapons/armor/POIs/Ship parts that would naturally come with some of these updates. That's about what I'd see them doing before moving on.
>>561412107> I would like to see a city size space station.I don't see this happening. Wouldn't mesh with Starfield's setting.

Anything new since the announcement? Any updates or DLC or anything?
>>561454929No. It's fucking over.
>>561451095Bethesda doesn't usually render things too far from the intended play area, so there will likely be an invisible wall enabled by default that prevents you from going too far, similar to how it's done on the planets as well as past Bethesda games. >>561458014Asking for new content additions every week from a company that's notorious for buggy releases and breaking their games with each update is not only unrealistic for a game of this scope, but also a recipe for disaster, especially if you mod this game. You're just going to have to wait until Bethesda is good and ready to update Starfield. If you need constant stimulation, consider purchasing creations.
6 monsths would be a good update timeline imo
>>561464291anything is better than whatever the current update timeline is
>>561464291I think they'll probably stick to one major update + DLC drop a year for maximum hype/marketing.
>>561465529They'll need to do a lot more than that to maintain interest I think.
>>561466171Given that Starfield remained in the top 10 most played Gamepass games despite basically no meaningful updates from Shattered Space until now, I don't think they see it as that big of an issue.People stick to Bethesda games for ages, even when nothing is going on.
>>561465529It's kinda weird they don't have a roadmap though. My experience with software companies that's a sign they're either not committed or the product reached the end of it's dev cycle
>>561466607Roadmaps are a think of like 5-8 years ago.Unless you're a live service MMO, no one does roadmaps, and even then, no one trusts roadmaps since everyone knows development issues happen, and shit is going to get moved around and delayed.
>>561466607If you haven't noticed, Bethesda has been making it up as they go along for a long time now. I'm pretty sure they've been on the back foot since 76
>>561466843This isn't really true. Especially for Fallout 76. they've been teasing stuff years in advance, and have mentioned multiple times they have content plans for several years in the future.
>>561466607Todd prefers to just keep things quiet and drop updates and stuff out of nowhere instead of sticking to an actual schedule, and I guess Bethesda decided to roll with that rather than the 6 week thing they were doing with Starfield up until last year. That should tell you that they're doing well enough that they can work at a casual pace and not have to meet a strict deadline like other companies do, nor do they have to post delay apologies like CDPR and Rockstar have to.
>>561467608>casual paceA year is a bit too fucking casual for me, man.
>>561466607Starfield's priority up to this point is fixing the game enough to stop people from complaining about it. The mini map, the rover, lots tweaks and additions, the freelane, new POIs and etc. Hopefully we'll see starfield be good enough to convince non starfield fans to start enjoying it so they can focus on expanding the universe with more stories, quests and new gameplay additions that isnt about fixing glaring issues with the base game.
>>561466835>and shit is going to get moved around and delayed.Yeah, but there still is an idea of the future features and apparently they can't produce that for Starfield and to me that screams lack of vision
>>561469104I doubt they'll fix it up to the point where everyone can enjoy it. They might try to improve most of the complaints regarding the gameplay, but the ship has sailed for anyone complaining about the gender options, plot and the cast of characters in particular.
>>561470008Who says they couldn't produce that for Starfield? There's no point in the devs putting out a list of things they could do before they know how the reaction to Free Lanes/Terran Armada will go,and seeing what people want from there.

>>561481987yeah but they fixed it with a software update lmao
>>561481987Earth's atmosphere got fucked up because of an error in how the OG grav drives worked. That was fixed in later models, but it was too late for Earth at that point.

>>561482076That cannot be true. If thats true, every ship in the settled systems is one virus away from becoming a weapon of mass destruction
>>561482226not him, but I don't think they said it was a software issue. It could've been a hardware design issue.
>>561482223I feel like they treat UC like the only actual good faction, while they treat Freestar like shit. When I did pick kid stuff with Freestar Native, the player's mother told me that her mother served in the UC military and gave me her UC spacesuit, which is hugely immersion-breaking for me for picking the Freestar Native background.
>>561482462100% its a software update. I remember this was the point in the story I started to think something was fucky with the writing proper.
>>561482808Why is this immersion breaking? Grandma fighting on one side doesn't stop mom from not giving a shit.
>>561483025If I picked freestar native background with kid stuff, the player's parent should have lived in akila city instead new atlantis.
>>561482808Yeah, Kid Stuff in particular doesn't gel with a lot of other traits.Although the fact that your Gran was UC Military... maybe the background I'm looking for is Soldier? Hmm...
>>561482226That could genuinely be a good idea for DLC

>>561481023Fact Check: With real life current tech, it would take over 9 years to fly a ship to Pluto (though technology already exists to get us there in shorter time, though no one wants to fund ships that uses it), meanwhile it would take tens of thousands of years to get to Alpha Centauri. It stands to reason that by the 2300s with more advanced spacefaring tech, humanity would have figured out a means of faster interplanetary travel, especially considering it took almost 200 years for the ECS constant to get all the way out to Porrima without the aid of Grav Drive technology, a location that would take hundreds of thousands of years to reach irl.
>>561484683To be fair, its mentioned during the ECS quest that they shaved off quite a bit of time from their initial estimates by like slingshoting themselves using some star's gravity wells or something.
Hello, so the new flt cruise mode:How long does it take to get from planet to planet? Enough time I can decorate or is it just 30 seconds flash and therehow much control do we now have over flying ourselves somewhere? I feel the game lacked true flying (understandably, you're in fucking space). But could I now manually fly planet to planet utilising hyperspeed? How do the encounters play into this?I didn't see a video that fully demonstrates the new features, if there is one I like what I've read, I personally used my ship as my house, it was cool decorating it
stagbros, i think i've done pretty much every possible quest, or at least i think so, it's very difficult to check since the journal in the game is terrible and there is no way to sort quests alphabetically (unless there's a mod i am not aware of), suggest me things i might have missed, i also finished the new tracker alliance questline which was pure starfield kinoalso, any mod on nexus you would recommend? i already have dozens installed but nexus is so bad i am sure there may be gems hidden in the 30th page

>>561514060>bad writing>Set in stone, not getting addressedHonestly, saying that Starfield's writing is bad is pretty subjective. Don't get me wrong, it isn't amazing by any metric, but its not really BAD either. Its ok to good in the vast majority of places.>>loading screens>Likely no changes with this update, all they did was add an alternate means of traveling around space in real timeTechnically, this does get rid of loading screens. Before, each of the nearly 1,700 planets/moons was separated by its own loading screen. Now all of space is getting merged into the 120 star systems. So they eliminated 93% of loading screens in space.

>>561536705Not the anon that made the orignal comment, but it does. Now, it isn't Star Trek uptopianism. But Starfield is set in a future where humanity has largely moved past war, and the major factions(UC, Freestar mainly, House Va'ruun to a lesser extent) are working toward peacefully coexisting.
>>561535561the bigger ones explode all nice, too
>>561488689what a gorgeous goddamn game honestly
>>561536949It's all sugarcoated nonsense much like what you would expect from the U.S or China. Life among all three is very much a rough experience for anyone who isn't a top of the line citizen or trying to game the system. New Atlantis and Akila pushes it's poor and unwanted to the side into The Well and The Stretch respectively, Neon is a city full of junkies and corrupt security, and Dazra is a nomadic cult hellhole that lost most of it's citizens to an experiment and now has to defend themselves from pirates, spaces, defectors using mindless cyber-soldiers as muscle, otherworldly creatures and crazed ghosts. Shit's so bad that people are trying to live independently on other planets with the help of LIST, but they're almost constantly under threat of four different bandit factions, on top of the hostile fauna that roams about some of those planets. The Settled Systems is hellish place to live in.
>90% of population are some sort of outlawsTypical Bethesda game
>>561536949This is probably why Starfield is viewed so negatively. It needs more fire. Like a faction that wants to overthrow the UC/FC and destroy Varuun. And imagine if you could join them. The "Space Legion".
>>561555139That's pretty much what the Terran Armada is trying to do, though the trailers don't mention them giving a shit about House Va'ruun, probably because they're already treated and act like a bandit faction anyways even with the armistice. Don't know if we can join them either.

In fact, its mentioned that groups like the Spacers, and Crimson Fleet, survive because they aren't considered a major threat since they don't actually attack that many people, they mostly scavenge old Colony War bases that both the UC and Freestar have basically said anyone can if they want.

>>561561618this, humanity went from however many billions there were before earth got fucked to a million people (at best) scattered across a dozen systems.
>>561561618>majority of survivors are low iq brownoids with no sense of national identity or pride or high enough status to be forced into the fight and who just ducked and covered when shit hit the fanMakes sense
>>561654339Went and looked into it myself. Yeah, sadly even by the year 2150 which is when it was announced that Earth was going to become uninhabitable, it's logistically impossible to evacuate more than a fraction of humanity, even with the 53 years it took for Earth to become uninhabitable in Starfield. We're realistically looking at a few million of the total population getting off the Earth at best. Alternatively while still very close to impossible to save everyone, what would have been more feasible in saving tens of millions should be to instead focus on creating large air tight structures either covering countries across the world, or more feasibly built into the Earth itself (similar to Cydonia) to shield everyone from the harmful radiation that would result in the loss of the magnetosphere and atmosphere. By the year 2203, we should be capable of recycling oxygen and water, and have sufficient use of solar panels to gain more concentrated energy from the sun, as well as machines tapping into the Earth's geothermal energy to generate energy. We can probably build shielded glass domes on the surface that functions as greenhouses and farms to grow edible plants and produce livestock, though it might be safer to resort to artificial sunlight for that instead. All that said, the destruction of Earth in Starfield and it's forced exodus was apparently done on purpose. Rather than it being an unfortunate accident that came about from messing with Grav Drive technology, scientists like Dr. Aiza wanted to force humanity into space and to colonize other planets.

Lads, what are the chances the game will go on sale on the 7th?I played the game using game pass on my Series S (used the 3 year trick), but since that expired and prices are way too steep, I'm looking to buy it. I know they recently dropped the base price, but do you reckon it'll go on sale when the update drops, similar to how NMS goes on sale when they do an update.Sidenote, does anyone know if owned creations carry over across different platforms? For some reason I have the premium upgrade (without the base game).
>>561668551It was on sale during the steam sale but they might put it on discount for the Xbox when the Playstation release comes sout.
>2150 - Scientists announce that Earth's magnetosphere is weakening and will collapse in about 50 years, threatening all life on the planet with extinction. Planning begins for the evacuation of Earth.Think this would've killed birth rates on Earth and they send mostly young people into space so by the time doomsday happened Earth was mostly old people?
>>561668551If you're planning on buying Starfield on PC, the creations and the Premium DLC you bought through the Game Pass version might carry over if you buy the Standard version from the Microsoft Store rather than another PC marketplace (such as Steam) since both Xbox and the Microsoft Store share the same ecosystem, you will likely also need to have your Xbox account linked to your Bethesda.net account. However, any unspent Creation Credits are limited to the platform you purchased them on, so those will be lost to you until you reactivate your Game Pass subscription on you Series S and spend them. Also do note that if you're planning to buy this game on the PS5, some of those creations might not even be available to you at all due to Sony's policies. You may want to contact a Bethesda representative to know for sure.
>>561670316Probably not, it's going to be like the movie 2012. In all likelihood, only countries that have establish the tech capable of going to space right now would have a decent chunk of people off planet by the time Earth becomes uninhabitable, so if anyone that isn't the U.S, China or Russia right now doesn't establish commercial spacefaring by the time this happens, anyone who isn't selected for their genetics or wealthy enough to pay their way into escaping with the other countries are definitely going to perish.
>>561670316>>2150 - Scientists announce that Earth's magnetosphere is weakening and will collapse in about 50 years2150, still using apollo era shitmake it make sense
>>561678215Please don't examine the lore too hard
>>561665287I really want Bethesda to bring back the auto-furnishing options from Skyrim and especially Fallout 3.In Fallout 3 you could choose from a bunch of different improvements like infirmary, jukebox, vending machine. There were also themes like Raider, Vault, Science and Pre-War.You bought these things, just with caps, and then it was just immediately there.Nowadays you buy an empty box and are expected to furnish it yourself. What a timesink.Anyway, this Cabin is a step in the right direction. The fact that it's UC specific makes me believe there's at least a Freestar version, if not more.
Why did the UC and Freestar agree to stick to like, three systems? But then they have outposts and settlers way out in the sticks? Are they not UC or FC citizens? Do they have to apply to no longer be citizens because if they forget to, they'll be starting a war?
>>561682157>What a timesink. Not to mention that is ultimately pointless. I'm sure there's a couple of people that enjoy playing house but I'd bet the vast majority doesn't and won't even touch outposts
>>561683603If they're bothering to implement this stuff to begin, I would think that there's a pretty high demand for it
>>561684468>I would think that there's a pretty high demand for itStarfield players don't, and have never, known what they wanted.
>>561682157Ship interior decoration would be appealing to me in a moderately hardcore gameplay loop where players would regularly spend time in and go in and out of their main vessel.Alas, this isn't a thing in the base game."You can get up during cruise mode and do____" feels like one slice of that, implemented without the necessary gameplay changes to make it anything more than a gimmick.
>>561684719The environmental damage settings would serve that hardcore purpose, I can't think of anything else that would serve to force you to go back to your ship outside of a hostile faction trying to claim it, a zombie apocalypse, or a planet on the verge of blowing up.
>>561685407Oh, and I guess making sure your ship is stocked up on food so your crew won't mutiny
Terran Armada is pretty small
>>561686979Its over
>>561686979We pretty much knew this already. they said it was a small story DLC, not a full DLC like shattered Space.
>>561670316Sarah says billions died, but I don't see why they couldn't have build bunkers or domes since they apparently already had that tech by then going by Mars and Europa
>>561689571Same reason why they couldn't just build enough Vaults for all of America in Fallout. Making that many bunkers/domes would take so much resources, and time, and likely wouldn't work out.
>>561690024In a 53 year time span from when scientists first warned humanity of the problem, that could have been more feasible than trying to get everyone to mass exodus out into space, or at least give humanity more time to leave the Earth, and that could have potentially saved many more lives (though not everyone could have been saved). According to the Starfield timeline, humanity had landed on Mars in 2050 and established Cydonia as a colony in 2112, so we definitely had the means to build emergency bunkers into the Earth to house people temporarily, and with Grav Drive tech, we could obtain the resources necessary to build them from other planets. Ultimately the problem wasn't that we couldn't try to do it, but rather that human nature potentially made it difficult and chaotic to coordinate towards it. We're talking poor funding, prioritization, mass panics, riots, increased crime rates, mass skepticism, religious beliefs, political turmoil and potential wars all hindering the progress towards salvation.
>>561686979it does not have to be very big, since its major feature set is adding recurring events and some items/gameplay features (incursions). A lot of reused assets, so not much in the way of new data is needed. However, it should offer a lot more replayability than SS, which is where they need to head. One and done missions are not the way.
>>561670316one of my biggest sources of cognitive dissonance is that with all the air disappearing from Earth, within the time frame that exists in the game, the vast majority of structures would still exists, not just a few landmarks. Its just the peak of dev laziness that they went that route. It would have been better to have the surface completely obliterated without landmarks rather than the route they took.
>>561686979I assume it's like automatron/hearthfire in terms of mainly being expanded systems rather than story
>>561693605would have made more sense that the remaining people on earth just descended into nuclear war when they ran out of time
>>561695642> It would have been better to have the surface completely obliterated without landmarks rather than the route they took. That would've made less sense.
>>561696085>That would've made less sense.less sense than, say, the ONLY structure left in NYC is the Empire State Building, with absolutely nothing surrounding it other than sand and rock? No, anon, I dont think so. It would have been better to say whatever completely scoured the Earth and made it completely unlandable, that way they would not have to put any effort in making the surface make any sense.
>Sarah disliked thatThough shit bitch
>>561684719Space travel should've been an actual part of adventure: required planning, took time and resources and carried real risks and dangers. Building a suitable ship and then staying locked inside for the duration of the trip would be a large part of that too.Locations must be more self-contained and content rich for that to work though, so you could stay at one place and still have things to do. And moving to another system would be a much bigger deal than just a few clicks and 5 seconds of loading screen. Obviously no stupid fetch quests across the entire universe, at least if that don't pay back enough to be worth it.
