Ok guys. I finally finished the main story of Fate/Grand Order, or rather up to the 6th Lostbelt, Avalon le Fae, and honestly… I came away pretty disappointed. Sorry in advance for the reddit rant.I went into the game mainly for the story, since it was often praised and discussed, but in the end I felt like only a handful of chapters were actually worth reading. My biggest issue is the pacing. A lot of chapters feel unnecessarily long, with tons of dialogue that doesn’t really add much. For instance, in several Lostbelts, there are long stretches of exposition or repeated conversations that slow the story down without advancing the plot in a meaningful way. Even when something important is happening, it can take a long time to actually get there AND the fact that it's just pngs talking to each other makes the matter worse. Production value doesn't match the ambition of the story.Even in the more acclaimed parts, I often felt like the story dragged on and diluted its own impact. Camelot had strong themes and moments, but some sections felt padded with repetitive encounters (same can be said for most chapters actually, it is a gacha game after all). Avalon le Fae itself had interesting ideas and characters, but the length and constant detours made it feel exhausting rather than engaging by the end. And mind you, I took my time playing the game. It took me something like 5 months. It's not like I was burnt out or anything.There are definitely some strong moments and characters here and there, but overall, the experience didn’t match the reputation the game’s story has. By the time I reached Avalon le Fae, I was more relieved to be done than satisfied. I went into it because I had nothing else going on at the time except work and the gym and to be honest I definitely wouldn't recommend FGO to anyone that would be in it mainly for the story.Curious to hear if others felt the same, or if I’m in the minority here.

With Aoko and Alice so soon, I'm thinking about their kitsI currently do the Stheno OC quest node daily, using Molay + double Gogh and crits, and I wonder if Aoko would be better for that than Molay. The Magic Bullet stuff plus Super Aoko being able to give both Goghs 50% NP charge and 2 turn CD reduction sounds potentially good.Also looking forward to Alice a lot. On top of just the fact she's Alice, I love her third skill. 20% battery with a 1 hit unignorable unremovable invincibility on a 2 turn cooldown is wacky.

It's kind of crazy to me that after Castoria, then Koyanskaya and Oberon the games meta essentially completely stabilized. It's been five years and there's been a single meta shifting servant. The closest would maybe be Ciel (and later Olga/Ishtar) card lock but that's still niche in use, and Summer Tiamat but even then my understanding is she's not a flat upgrade to the Skadis.
