If the game is saying "yeah you can just do the Undyne and Sans fight for fun and reset", it would've been better to have them frontloaded to the first hour and make the rest of the route a nothing grindfest. Like you get all the cool stuff immediately but still choose to subject yourself to boredom because you're desperate to squeeze whatever content is left.
