>>561689956I think the real miscalculation was they really expected all the starved D2 PVP players to migrate to Marathon and act like it was the second coming of Halo 2. They did not even try to court other D2 players or accommodate them at all because they just assumed we'd all eventually migrate and continue paying into the bungie money pit of broken promises alongside a whole new audience of suckers dazzled by the stolen art and cyberpunk roblox aesthetic. They really fucked up by abandoning D2 the way they did. It drew a straight line to Marathon that killed both games. The hubris at play here needs to be studied.
