Finally finished Sky SC. Entire game felt like filler and I had to take several breaks it was that boring and uninteresting. Kuro 2 at least had some decent segments like Nemeth Island and a better cast. Liberl cast is kind of shit, even the blandest members of Class VII are more interesting and better written than the best of the Liberl cast with the exception of Kevin who is actually decent. I'm hopeful that Sky 3rd will be an improvement as at least you get to play as a decent MC and not Shitstelle.

I last touched this series I think 9-10 years ago with Trails in the Sky SC and it looks to have grown into an even bigger monolith than it already was. What's the over-under on how long it'll take me to get through all these games? I'll probably have to redo at least SC cause I barely remember anything other than Kevin's badass moment at the end with the main villain. Ever since the Celis thing and Van mysteriously not being able to go Grendel I have rolled my eyes at most deaths, but I do see why people think the character writing is up there. Feri, Risette and even Halle’s do reveal where they feel the weakest and I have thought that I wish the series was bold enough to showcase a character, any character, reach breaking point and come out of it better. I think almost every single major character in this series experiences their lowest point in the past except Feri and a few others, and the whole priestess thing threw me off because I thought Kasim’s disappointment stemmed fromFeri not putting Aida down. And in a convoluted way it was that, but not really.Still, I am not sure having to kill your main cast over and over was the best way to force certain characters to revisit their lowest points. And I think there is more to the corrosion that meets the eye. Halle is the one that throws my theory of the most at this point, but with just about everyone else it seems like the victims have some sort of mindshift from a different timeline where their delusions may be plausible. But who knows, I’ll see where the game takes this. The fact Kasim’s selfbuff is him filling himself with “the Breath of the Goddess” was hard as fuck though.
