I don't deny that he treats Sill differently, but the writers keep making it sappier over time, and the idea that he was smitten with her immediately ignores everything that came after it chronologically and annoys me. It stinks of retconning for yumebaiting. If you want to soften Rance's edge over the games that's one thing, but going back in time to do it goes against his characterization. That said, they made him act pretty weird in Quest considering their intent. Surely if he feels that strongly about her he shouldn't continually postpone trying to save her with weak excuses? I don't think it's a retcon for him to be obsessed with her, but the writing does get a bit schizophrenic.

That's why it seems like a late series retcon. He cares about her, but he's also careless with her, but then at the end he starts talking like a woman's romance novel protagonist. Same thing happens in 03 (second to last game released) where he's not incredibly bothered or in a hurry to get her back when Satella kidnaps her or even when he sees her almost drowning, but then at the same time there's scenes where other characters act like Rance and Sill have been married for 20 years.

if anything it's almost the opposite. In world 1 you're fast enough as it is, unless you want to guarantee a certain character goes first. In world 3 you need very high speed just to keep pace with some of the harder bosses so your healers can keep in sync with their attacks.

I more meant that you don't need to worry too much about optimizing monrun items in world 1. Running with grade C stuff is fine, and even with offstats, especially for people who aren't in your main team. There is a quest that lets you swap out bad items if you get to the point where you really want to minmax.
