Being called Vampire is more of a convenience thing, he created the race and they're his descendants but he himself is an aion.Aions are primordial gods that created the multiverses and timelines, demons are their descendants and taimanins are the balancing force that fight against them. Black is in love with one of the other aions who is inside Asagi and is trying to get her to awaken to it so they can be together for eternity enjoying the worlds they create as gods. In TABA, he and Asagi are going around trying to find a body for Vampire Asagi to be in so they can fuck and be together physically not just fused. And in another ending, Fuuma tried to absorb him at the same time Black tried to absorb him and they got elements of each other. Black became more human and gained Fuuma's eye powers while Fuuma got some of Black's powers to amp himself to finally actually fight worth a damn that he can only use for a little bit or risk full demonization. Somehow this also caused Black's eviller aspects to infect some other dude and that guy kidnapped Kurenai's mom after the now nicer Black married and impregnated her with Felicia. Black was never able to find Kurenai's mom and basically left Kurenai to her human family while trying to find a way to stop his evil side and avoid getting absorbed into him and keep Fuuma from getting absorbed by him or the world be completely screwed. Also he tries to save Felicia. There's a lot I'm leaving out but that's the gist.

I like that you can control the characters when you fight. I feel it's more skill intensive for those reasons. You need to do the same quests hundreds of times to get the same items just to do shit like boost your characters stats up by like a single percentile point. I also like how there's potential for Clan stuff and the multiverse rift stuff they are setting up.
