One of the advantages I've found of being a Sonic fan as a kid in the 2000's is an ability to shrug off platformers being jank because I'm surprised at how do make people throw a huge whiny tantrum if a game has even the slightest bit of jank in it. I've seen people quit entire games after one minor unintuitive death and I'm just thinking "you would violently shit yourself in rage if you played one Heroes or Shadow level, huh".
