Bringing back the Rinze plove topic from last thread but I started reading and rereading some Rinze commus since I hadn't touched her once since I did her WING years ago.To start out I'm surprised to find out that her motivation for being an idol isn't actually plove in the first place like I thought. She's really just soul searching and trying to grow into herself, which I guess should be expected because she's a houkura. She's in love with SCP because he facilitates her being an idol, she's not an idol because she loves SCP. Trains surprisingly seem to be a motif they use in more than one of her commus I've seen, being a literal vehicle that takes her from her sheltered life to far off lands. Girl's Treaty plays with this in the Mei side when they just spend the day seeing where the trains will take them after initially fucking up and missing their stops. As a sheltered girl narrative goes it's a bit interesting too that her family is actually quite supportive and only shelters her so far as she's made them do it, and that Rinze herself is quite a go-getter who's enthusiastic to try new things instead of being a shy girl who's afraid of the world. The real barrier is really just the massive distance between her and the world that she starts out at rather than any human obstacles. Which I guess actually brings us back to the trains thing.I only went through the commus I already had available so I can't give in-depth examination of her but she's got a lot more going on narratively than I realized.
