I'm like 99% sure it's the Aerial Warfare mode they were testing components of in the SEAD event last year. A lot of the assets used in this have been added in unrelated updates and datamined ages ago so I really don't think this is the end of it.

killing players is a very easy way to grind the event because everyone is either new or just grinding by bombing
