I believe I've reached the point now where I should properly clarify my stance on erafaggotry and why I dislike not only Classicfags but also Modernfags as well, as I've been mainly focusing on the former because of Hessefag. (Had to split this into 2 posts in order to get my point across, there will be a TL;DR in the second one.)Let's start with Classicfags. They genuinely believe that there hasn't been anything remotely worthwhile since the Classic era apart from Mania and can't live with the fact that the Classic formula was perfected with S3&K. Sonic Team needed to give the franchise a new direction in order for it to stay relevant and while I do in fact like the idea of S3&K in 3D or classic-style games being made alongside modern ones, I can all but guarantee that we'd be comparing Sonic to Crash Bandicoot today instead of Mario if we didn't get Sonic Adventure as it was. Maybe Classicfags are fine with that but not me, as I fully believe that Sonic as a franchise quite simply cannot be afraid to reinvent itself from time to time in order to survive. (This isn't meant to be disparaging towards Crash as a whole but as good as the first 3 games were, they didn't really light a fire under the rest of the gaming industry like Super Mario 64 did.)(1/2)
