More 4*s is a good idea, because it allows for more skill expression. More characters = more different kits = more different ways to use and combine them into teams, basically more ways to play the game. One of the reasons why we don't get them anymore is that HSR devs are lazy and would rather make 1 decent 5*, hand it out like a bribe to the players and be done with it. And players eat it up because it feels generous and it feeds their metatroon mindset, which is very prevalent in the current playerbase. People nowadays don't want to play this game to enjoy it and have fun, but to achieve some arbitrary star rating, which is controlled by the same devs that now hold them by the balls by feeding them said free 5* units

Meaning you'll need to acquire them multiple times before they're usable.This, in turn means that you'll need to pull on their rate ups. Meaning that if the banner unit is someone you don't like, you're spending pulls on A) gambling on something you have 0 guarantees for and B) wasting your pulls to potentially get a 5-star you didn't want.If you skip the rate-up, you're not getting your 4-star unless you get astronomically lucky (the pool is VERY bloated by now). So not only are 4-stars incredibly hard to target pull outside of their rate ups, they're not even guaranteed on their own banners. You can spend 200+ pulls on a banner and get ZERO eidolons of your targeted 4-star.Then we get to the problem of 4-stars diluting the 4-star pool. As of now, veteran players have E6s on all 4-stars, giving them a high chance of getting a free pull every 10 pulls (since E7+ of a 4-star equals 20 currency equals one pull).
