It reads the journal logs, restarts services, edits the nixos config, pulls the monado source so it can make some apparently necessary patches to fix the distortion mesh on the bigmeme2, overlays that on the regular monado nixpkg so it builds and symlinks, scrapes through all the slightly contradicting information on the linux vr adventures wiki and the monado issue tracker itself, and reads the one other furry's that uses VR with nixos/home-manager and publishes their config repo to find the other weird bits you need. Only thing I didn't do was literal root access, so I ran the sudo rebuilds myself (could've setup nopasswd but I am lazy in various hypocritcal ways). Working setup: vrchat in proton-ge-rtsp-bin talking to xrizer openvr talking to monado openxr (with patch) with the proprietary steam_lh tracking backend (libsurvive almost worked but was jittery). I will maybe try and upstream the patches.Despite this deep deep hole of self-inflicted autism, it does actually work quite well. Better than I was expecting even. Full framerate/resolution (on 4090) in a crowded instance, audio/voice worked fine, no screen tearing or tracking loss. Video players and yt-dlp in another world also just werked. Didn't try FBT with tundra trackers but will later. wayvr with sway also worked. And I did actually follow along while it was debugging, so I have a much better understanding of whole horrifying linux VR software stack now. Probably not as deep as if I had actually done everything manually, but way way faster.thanks for reading my blog

Got me a Pico 4 ultra. It's my first time entering into the world of VR and it's fun af. I only planned to use it for watching movies and it's already worth it. Some of the 3D movies feel incredibly 3Dish like the first avatar and pacific rim. You can really feel the effects in those, some other movies aren't so great with the 3D. Even 2D flicks are great. Watching LOTR in 4k on the big screen is just pure kino. And honestly, I'm glad I didn't enter VR way back when it first came out, because at least the features and optimisation seems to be really solid now. Next I'm gonna try out Skyrim VR.

Finally bought the Hollywood course and decided to collect the lost balls and putter. Hole 2 is much easier than we've been making it. Tried to create my best putt but I couldn't. I couldn't record it because I'm still learning the in-game camera. The good thing about the standalone version is you can pull up a recording option in the menu with the Meta button.

Just passing by to say that pic related is probably the best sword VR game I have ever played. It took me 3+ years to find out this game exists. For some reason no one ever recommends it, and I guess many people have a problem with it because of the graphics.This game might have vowel graphics, but it utilizes it by fully simulating every pixel in combat.
