With it being such a new engine, very few people would know from experience so your best bet would be to ask a programmer who knows how it's running or give it a crack yourself.

Losing feels way worse than winning feels good so when you tie randomness to basic actions, it frustrates most players because the anger they feel from a wrong guess builds up faster than the good they feel from a correct guess.
This is why games usually either tie randomness to exclusively positive effects like crits, or they tie it to an optional move like a powerful attack that can justify it's bad odds.
To mitigate this, you could make the odds mostly in the player's favour, but I'm assuming doing this would diminish the point of the game.

I've noticed a pattern in the mind that when you believe that an answer exist, yet you can't find it, then you'll spend all your time trying to find that answer. Which is a problem when the answer actually doesn't exist, but the "answer" involves trial and error and actually doing things.
That's how I'd explain the behavior of spending all day on the internet trying to find a solution for your problems instead of just trying things.
You can observe something similar when people play games without the wiki. In that scenario they have absolute clarity that the answers aren't exposed to them and that they have to figure it out by themselves through experimentation (hypothesis and trying to prove it).
Maybe part of it is the idea that other humans are very intelligent, so for sure someone must know how to e.g. have success, so I just need to find that someone and download his information into my brain. But this pattern fails, when it doesn't work out that way. It's almost like some glitch that keeps your brain blocked forever. Endlessly searching for an answer that doesn't exist.
Maybe another factor is the combinatorial explosion of systems. What might work for somebody doesn't work for someone else, because in a math equation factors matter. And if you e.g. have different parents, different friends, a different job, even different language, everything is different.
I guess you could sum it up as "you need to figure out what works for you" and the answer for that isn't out there for you to download. It's not a piece of information you can find online. It's something you have to figure out through trial and error. Which is especially hard to accept for solution oriented people or people under immense time pressure to find a solution asap. Trial and error can basically take decades if you are unlucky, maybe even never work out. It might also include accepting completely new directions that you didn't plan, because they are a better opportunity inside your circumstances.

It's not. There's not a single indie success in your genre. Your genre has a target audience of 7-12 year old boys who do not use Steam and no longer really have consoles. If it makes you feel better I followed the practical careerist path my parents laid out for me and I despise it. Its been getting increasingly harder and harder to both focus on the job and have energy to gamedev on weekends. The only thing keeping me going is that I am save up money to be able to quit and dedicate multiple years to focusing on making a game and maybe even buying art and music for it. i think modern small towns are the most underrated game environment. i'd argue at best even just 1 house where you do something inside. Phasmophobia also did that.

I mean sure but it's not sustainable and it's not that superior to just eating normal food that keeps you healthy. Normally sugar cravings stop after 4 weeks unless it's used as a coping mechanism, but your answer gave a clue to what it may be.
