You know how the weakest part of Rimworld is the lackadaisal randomly generated bits between real tailored content, ie random ideologies and nonsensical discussions/art(something people are now using rudimentary AI to replace, because it's even preferable)? That's much, much bigger in DF. To the extent it's kind of all DF was to me. The micromanagement required felt at odds with how impersonal the dwarfs are and how many you have running around. The story of my fortress never really felt interesting, and whereas Rimworld colonies all really boil down to the same bits the personalization of pawns gives it flair. I could extrapolate a story from DF but it'd be like the story of a city's development than a story about the colonists who founded it. If that's your gig then try it, but I like the story of retards running the show rather than an anthropological history of retards running the show volume 1
