>>562651439The farm choice is mostly aesthetic overall. The bonuses you get from each are early game and are quickly made obsolete once you approach midgame. I'd recommend just looking at a pic of each farm and seeing which you like best personally. My top 3 are hilltop, meadowlands, forest, in that order. Don't care too much for the rest of them. I especially don't like river, standard, or 4 corners.

I take it the reduced tillable land isn't a problem with those? If I remember correctly it wasn't that long before I was making money hand over fist just growing shit in the greenhouse and processing it into wine or something.

You have to play the game, try some mods, if you like it great, if not, try other. Until you find your perfect gameplay. Some here minmax like crazy, others love decorations and do wonders with their farms. I personally love cooking and crafting recipes. You have to find your thing yourself first, then you can enjoy the game your way, if is your kind of game. The game is easy, but it won't give you yellow paint and spoonfeed you.
