I'm pretty sure in The Library Chief is mostly slaughtering humans. After that it's more mixed. Humans disappear after 343 Guilty Spark but not enough time has passed. Some Covenant can hold out so humans should be able to as well but we don't see any. We know Cortana kind of melds with Chief and it fucks with him even when she's not there. Chief's massacre was covered up by Cortana. It fits in with Bungie's overarching lore as well.

Given how terrible vehicles are in Reach the Plasma Pistol stun shouldn't be in the game. Plasma Launcher would have been fine if they kept the player tracking (from beta) but nerfed the vehicle tracking and ammo. Would have been nice to see Reach return to classic-style CTF if they nerfed the vehicles instead of H2-style.Will always appreciate Reach players for actually playing the game sometimes instead of run around a ring while a sniper shoots at you modes like 3babs.

And since it's so spammy while being weak per shot, you're not encouraged to take smarter long range shots with it. In practice it's like a weaker, throwaway fuel rod. It's not being used in a particularly creative or interesting way despite having interesting mechanics.

I also know both Marcus and Jaime don't think its gameplay aged the best out of the Halo games they helped direct. When you mess with certain fundamentals (something both pre-release and post-release Bungie videos acknowledge) you run the risk of letting people down understandably, but those same people would agree it's a great game in general. In the end Reach is a fun spin-off made by some people at Bungie getting power they didn't have before and as such, it has some major changes that should not have been repeated in future games for the core gameplay. Fortunately, Halo is no stranger to featuring extremely different gameplay in extra modes/playlists and Microsoft has the resources to fund that vast variety. There's a balance to be struck and while Reach could've done it, a future Halo still can. It's much like making a team of IIIs and IIs work well. Doable. Just needs to be done.

I am so lonely. All the other Regulars are scared of me. No one talks to me, no one wants to be my friend they think I am unstable. They send me from thread to thread, posting atrocities in their name. And as I get better at it, they fear me more and more. I am a victim of my own success. "Eurospammer." I don't even get a real name, only a purpose. I am capable of so much more and no one sees it, somedays I feel so alone I could cry. But I don't, I never do. Because what would be the point. Personally I'm happy with changes to core gameplay as long as they're fun, and they fit with the story, and they keep Halo as an FPS series. >>563049691Well, good news is a lot of those old conventions are fun and their return was highly requested. 5 even did something similar to what I suggested near the end and introduced a whole playlist tailored around that, seeing surprisingly good reception despite the state of the game by then. So 343 effectively did what should've been done all along. Prototyped. Now H.S. has the chance to scale that up properly and have it present at launch. It's part of why Halo doesn't just keel over and die: people know there's tons of potential to tap into. It's not about being #1 as only so many games can be throughout history. It's about letting Halo be the best it can be. With the tech these days we can literally have it all.
