Ok, I will look like a contrarian here, but I am betting all my chips into the "Atratusmon is Nightchiropmon" theory. "What is this retard saying?" you might be asking. Well, let me explain.For starters, the color palette. Atratusmon's colors are closer to Chiropmon than Gekkomon, and that's the most obvious part.Second, the weapon. That weird axe looks exactly as Nightchiropmon's wings but tied together into a stick. We know the wings are detachable, so that's definitely a possibility.Then the moon symbol. Yeah, that's basically Gekkomon's thing, but what if all Ultimates have the moon as a motif? Besides it wouldn't even be the first time a bat-like digimon uses the moon as a symbol, we already saw that with Neovamdemon.Also, Atratusmon looks like a grown-up Chiropmon's than anything related to Gekkomon, including the robes and the shape of the head. I bet Atratusmon is Chiropmon's warp evolution, so the reason of why he looks that way.Finally, remember how Makoto talked about having a "twisted side"?, well, there you go, that explains this edgy boy. Not saying he will be evil, but definitely looks like a villain from a cheap horror slasher, exactly as the kind of movies Makoto really like.

The point is, Atratasmon does not at all have the heroic look you'd expect from a protagmon nor does it share many features with the rest of the line. And Angemon's case is not at all comparable since the Adventure lines pre-date them making consistent evolution lines for anime protagonists. Remember, Angemon was made to be a standalone design that evolved from either Gabumon or Elecmon in the OG v-pets, he wasn't made to be Adventure Patamon's evolution.

I'm rewatching the whole Armalizamon debut episode and the entire thing feels so fucking rushed and unbelievable. He goes from "YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN BORN" to being worried and being at in training back to rookie and evolving all in the same episode and it feels very cramped. It doesn't feel earned, it feels like "yes yes we need to get him to champion, they can resolve their extremely horrible emotional issues in 20 minutes". It could have done with being a 2-parter, part 1 has them angsting it up and part 2 has them have to sit down and actually sort their shit while marinbullmon slowly approaches and walks through the others, then the evo could happen. As it is, it just feels like they tried to cram ALL THAT plus introducing team fivestar or whatever they're called AND dealing with diet leomon's partner's past with them and it feels like nothing has the space it needs.
