I personally started the game during Alice's banner but didn't start seriously playing it or spending all the candies every day until Leets's banner. I'd just pop in occasionally, read a few chapters, do some crusade and then not log in for days. In hindsight, I regret it cuz I feel bricked, but it's alright since I still started relatively pretty early.
