Asking again : Does anyone got any experience with yokes for plane sim? I'm kinda interested into buying one. I already have a high-end stick, but it feels wrong to pilot huge ass transport planes with it.

Man imagine piloting this giant thing with a small stick that's not even directly linked to anything. It must feel so weird.
>>
>>563006875
>Airbus A380 has a joystick so you should be fine
Of course it works fine, but i'm still asking people who have experience with yokes about it. But i'm not sure many, if any anons around here ever used those.

>>563011051
>t. thousands of hours flying tubes with a twist stick
Well some people play with an xbox controller too, once again that's not the point. But clearly nobody here uses a yoke so i'll just stop asking.
>>
>>563004778
Tbh using a yoke in flightsims is already a niche on a niche, and it kind of limits you on other aircraft. Joystick is just the better choice overall unless you are building your own pure boeing/embraer/cessna kind of cockpit. Also they tend to be more expensive due to how their feedback is built into.
>>
>>563011725
>once again that's not the point.
the point is you want a yoke?
>>
>>563012107
>the point is you want a yoke?
Yes. Thats why i'm asking if anyone here has experience with those.
>>563012079
I already have a good stick, it doesn't limit me at all. Price isn't exactly a problem either. But there's a few yokes on the market and i'm not sure where i should look. Virpil has pre-orders up for theirs, perhaps i'll just wait for that. Their stuff is always top notch.
>>
>>563004778
Only experience is with pic related, but think yokes are a gimmick unless you currently or imminently plan to pilot huge ass transport planes on a regular basis.
If it's worth it to you, personally, for personal immersion, then it's worth it.
>>
>>563012432
check out Honeycomb or VirtualFly or Precision Flight Controls for quality ones.
>>
I know Thrustmaster has a lot of haters, but I liked the TCA Boeing Yoke when I tried it, but I have no desire to get a yoke. I liked the little mini Boeing throttles as well.

Thanks for your inputs, anons. I heard honeycomb was good, and its not that pricey.

so I can sit there with a Yoke on my desk, that I don't touch for seven hours?
>>
>>563016136
Like all huge ass peripherals, it benefits from more frequent use.
>>
>>563018724
>fly seven hours straight
>that's not frequent use
>>
>>563019101
Seven hours is fine but seven weeks is a lot of time to leave a huge and unsightly ass peripheral strapped to your desk, especially if you have company.
>>
>>563019101
How do tubeliners anons even fly? I find the idea of setting autopilot for 4 hours really fucking boring, maybe if you do VATSIM or IVAO events could spice things up with real world weather turbulence once in a while

>>
I like that Falcon BMS has a "Bare Minimum" file for keybinds, and the list still includes a keybind for every single cockpit function, over a dozen views, a key for every individual radio command (there is radial menu), ten different ways to zoom your FOV, but leaves out really basic features like "throttle go up/down"

I took this screenshot in the middle of an 8 hour long virtual meeting.
>>
>>563022484
1998's flight sim bare minimum was assumed to include a joystick, with the keyboard as a glorified button box.
>>
>>563019384
I don't fly airliners but I do do 4~5 hour-ish flights in things like the Beechcraft Starship; for some reason it's satisfying to let that complete in real time even if I'm only glancing at it occasionally to make sure no annunciators have lit up.
I assume a lot of people crank sim rate up to max in cruise though

Yokes look nice but limit you a bit when you want to fly other things, unless you're a richfag and have both a yoke and stick.
>>
>>563019384
4 hours is fine, you can look out the window, listen to music, relax etc. How people do long haul, 8 hours+ or whatever is beyond me, maybe they just increase the sim rate.
>>
Odds we're getting an Asian truck sim once the ETS2 map is completed?

We're probably more likely to have South America than Asia. Being able to drive from London to Singapore would be mental though.

It's interesting how old electric locomotives are, you'd think they'd be something introduced later, but apparently the first one was built in 1837.
