In the case of the default system, it literally just vectorizes some chats and does occasional one-off summaries rather than chunk summarization.With stuff like memory books, you can manually delineate chunks that encapsulate a scene, that gets summarized and put into a per-chat lorebook (I think, I'd have to double check). I think it can also do auto chunks per X messages, which means you don't have to be on top of things manually. As to the prompt, so long as the system is sending, say, ten messages and saying "Summarize this scene in a paragraph or two" it should give you decent results since summarizing is a common enough task. The real question is whether the automated recall/tagging is good enough that it will pull in the data as needed which is where most of these systems (including TunnelVision) are a bit janky. And TV is on the right track (it misses out on some useful automation of per-chat lorebooks), but the models don't understand the tool calls properly and will try to send comma separated tag searches which it doesn't handle. There's no real danger in testing any of them out. Just make sure you keep a clean lorebook for the actual summaries if you don't want a core lorebook getting clogged up.
