>>
>>563098770
Because the issues with it are deeply embedded and would require remaking the game top to bottom. There is no patch or DLC that is going to change the writing or the stiff conversations or the thin and contradictory lore. All they can ever do is move numbers around, which isn't going to scratch the surface of the problems.

Why does your game look better than mine? Is it just the sunrise lighting you got there in that screenshot?
>>
>>563099634
I am a Starfield shill but c'mon. Unsatisfying environments? If Bethesda is known for *anything*, it's creating very satisfying environments full of interestingly placed skeletons that are fun to just walk around and explore. Which is kind of fundamentally incompatible with Starfield's reliance on procgen for its exploration systems.

They've made some improvements to this by changing POI frequency, but at the end of the day the system just isn't great and it's an unfixable core feature of the game design.
>>
>>563100090
The actual points of interest in Starfield are the best levels Bethesda's ever designed (shitloads of verticality, multiple routes, usually have some cool set pieces). The issue was always that they repeat forever.
>>
>>563100082

>>
>>563100624

>>
>>563100248
Part of the issue is that the only place where level design can even *happen* is in points of interest! The POIs are good, great even, but there's no world to explore connecting them. And at the end of the day, because the game is reliant on procgen, no matter how you tweak POI frequency you are always going to run into the same ones eventually.

A huge portion of the game is vast expanses of randomly generated wilderness of the kind Bethesda has correctly recognized as boring since Daggerfall.

I personally am of the opinion that a lot of people feel dissatisfied by their ship builds as a result of their paintjob.
That is, I bet your build might be volumetrically decent, but the way you colored it throws it off. Maybe think of what you've got as an assemblage of parts (or an assemblage of assemblages, if the ship is big enough).

I doubt anyone was out here giving scaleform scripts to these things to train them, and any language it's unfamiliar with that's even the least bit esoteric it completely and utterly fails at.

Need that shit to write a python tool to strip down code for modding because you can't be assed to spend time on that? It can do that. Need it to rewrite a spacedust shader? Fuck it, you're screwed.

>>563103881
The problem, now playing it with free lanes, is that people are trying to approach it "fixing it" from a perspective of making it more like a normal Bethesda game. You need to lean more into Starfield's systems and try to refine those. It's a slow, meandering game about space wandering, and honestly it feels like it's at its best when that's happening.

The issue with ship parts is that they aren't really modular. They do fit together but when making them the artists basically drew some concept art ships, 3d modelers cut them in pieces, and that's it. So 95% of the time you're trying to build something that's not at least similar to those concept ships it will look like ass and out of place.
>>
Has anyone made a mod to make temples interesting, or is it pretty much exclusively phasing them out entirely? I'd be fine with em if they were more than just pretending to be a moth since they're at least pretty set pieces, but the way they are makes me dread interacting with the main quest

I have them both installed and can at least confirmed the Paved Akila one works. However the two other Akila mods I have installed (Akila City Rises and Akila Outskirts Expanded) caused an infinite loading screen bug when I tried to go there at first. Not sure if the Free Lanes update broke it, or if the compatibility patch between the two got broken due to the former getting updated yesterday,
>>
>>563109864
I'm expecting Bethesda to at least add four to six proper dungeons housing some new powers once the Starborn DLC drops.
>>
>>563109864
Yeah, I can imagine, not a whole lot of variance from what I'd seen. Maybe it could be done as the ring working instead as a sort of gateway into a simulated environment/parallel universe 'snippet' and just use cave/planet/other exterior bits to shape it? That'd be my best vague idea, lmao, but chances are that'd be even more of a pain in the ass.

That's what I had started with a bit. You do the stupid fucking ring puzzle and it gets you into the big donut and it goes all fizzy but then you end up in a new area instead of on top of the temple, and then the dungeon is themed around the power (either requiring its usage or just themed around it). But I still wanted more starborn pieces to work with.

IM LOSING IT IM LOSING IT.

This is so disgustingly desinged. Like every single aspect of interacting with the mechanics is giving me cancer. All the controls for building and the menus are complete fucking giga aids. You can't call your ship to your outpost after having built it and your fat ass is encoumberd. NO! You have to drop your shit and then teleport to it which forces you to sit trough 3 loading screens!! and suffer the insufferrable menus on fucking top. Jesus christ I don't think im gonna make it lads. What SINGLE thing was wrong with the way shit worked in Skyrim? You mine some ore. You craft some bars. You craft your items. If TES 6 has these cancer outposts too im going to fucking kill Todd.

KEEP IT FUCKING SIMPLE THIS AIN'T FACTORIO.
>>
>>563111287
Ahhh yeah, super fair; like, it still has to have the sort of connecting vibe the pieces would give it. Hopefully we do wind up seeing the Starborn DLC and they don't fuck off with it, then, and that could potentially give more bits, like other anons have said, we'll have to see. Appreciate your insight though man.

Its almost like the YouTubers -whose videos are hitting numbers worth recommending to you - are conveying opinions widely accepted
>>
>>563117596
Classic Bethesda fans feel at home with Starfield. It’s the Skyrim babies and new Vegas troons that don’t get it. Seeing zoomers try daggerfall is always hilarious. If you hate the POIs that game will destroy your soul.

when are you jewtuber cattle going to learn that this game is never going to be that "THEY DID IT! THIS IS BRILLIANT! STARFIELD 2.0, ANIME ANNOUNCED" game. no matter how much you want it to be like skyrim.

from the ground up, it was specced as a niche game that bethesda knew wasn't going to appeal to everybody. unless you are a fan of the setting, or you are a fan of emergent gameplay, this game will never magically become something it was never meant to be.

>>563118147
people started liking cyberpunk because of the anime. i still remember at launch redditors literally, posting about how they are cryign in real life. and from what i understand the biggest changes they made with the 2.0 update was adding some new vehicles and.. skills? mainstream consensus is entirely based on vibes, graphics quality, latest eceleb gossip and recency bias.

one thing I noticed about this general is that the anons here are way more insecure than other Bethesda generals like /fog/ or /tesg/. In /fog/ the fo4 fags don't care if most people don't like fo4, they just shitpost along with it. In /tesg/ everyone considers vanilla Skyrim to be garbage and they are just into mods and coomer stuff
but here I see so many anons constantly seething about criticism or a conspiracy that everyone who disliked the game is a Sony pony
It's quite interesting to see

Procedurally generating a map, tweaking it, and building a game on top of it is not the same procedurally generating 10 square miles of nothing and randomly plopping down POIs. It’s a smaller middle dlc. Think hearthfire or automatron. I think we’re getting one more shattered space size dlc next before they call it quits. Maybe that’s “starborn” or whatever. I’m also thinking there’s at least one other small update with something they couldn’t squeeze into free lanes.

I can’t stop using it. It makes the game feel more cohesive. It makes the game feel more like I’m walking from Riverwood to Whiterun. I just need a setting to disable all fast travel.
>>
>>563133530
It was always going to be a stupid idea. It's the same deal as the train in Cyberpunk, it's one of those things people start repeating to themselves on forums over and over again, and nobody stops and thinks about what it would actually be like. You use it once, huh that's neat, and then never again because it's just sitting there. If there was a ton of stuff to do on the ship it would have a role, but there isn't. You can't play poker with the ship mates, there are no minigames, you can't immersively masturbate in-game yet, there's hardly any books worth reading (and they pause time when you do), so you're just sitting there. Maybe mods will eventually fill in the gaps but at this current pace I doubt it.
>>
>>563133530
It's precisely what Starfield needed
>>
>>563133530
It needed it, now it just needs a no fast travel option and it would be golden.
>>
I just want to romance elite crew, gibs space amulet of mara i don't need shitty quest
>>
>>563133530

>>
>>563133530
This line of thinking is how you ended up with the game in its initial state to begin with.
>>
For the anons who haven't been here in a long time, there are two mods available that adds romanceable companions. One is Everbright, a paid mod that adds Alana Straczynski (pic related), and the Estelle Vincent Companion mod, which is free, but you need to side with the Crimson Fleet to romance her.

The Terran armada quests are legit nothings. Barely added anything into the game. How is this a ten dollar expansion? The main quest is literally just two missions with “do 3 incursions” between them.
>>

>>
>>563136805
doesnt it add replayable incursions as content? it's a small DLC they added to premium for a reason.
>>
>>563137048
We don't know, the game never says, Bethesda probably won't ever explain it because Todd likes having arbitrary mysteries, and even if they do the answer will probably change 3+ times throughout development based on whatever movie they've watched recently.

>>
X-tech and upgrades are my favorite new thing. Being able to max out any piece of gear by just smashing credits and items into it feels great. I finally feel like I can pick guns that are fun to use or role play with instead of whatever latest random drop with the highest DPS.
>>
>>563137663
That’s true when you believe there’s an actual answer. It’s lame when you know they just didn’t come up with one.
>>
my bucephalus feels so small when compared to the terran armada spaceship.
>>
>>563138678
Is there a new capital ship?
>>
>>563138295
It also requires the object of mystery to be entertaining in itself. Dwemer left behind enough cool shit that you don't need to see exactly where they went or have living ones run around as regular NPCs. The creators left behind subpar gear, annoying temples, and a bunch of asshats playing cosmic Fortnite.
>>
>>563138781
Terran Armada does incursions where you have to assault one of their capital ships (you can't fast travel if they do an incursion to a star system that you're in). it's been moderately fun thus far.
>>
>>563137570
I can definitely tell Todd watched Star Trek: Into Darkness while developing this. That and Interstellar. The final piece of the puzzle is Dune and some shit like Firefly. The starborn shit is really reminiscent of the “starseed” concept in ufo lore.
>>
hello, how good is the game now? looking for a comfy exploration game like a lightly-modded skyrim
>>
>>563139032
And we know there’s an explanation or intention behind the Dwemer disappearance from the perspective of the writers. They’ve thought about it and maybe left hints but aren’t gonna just tell you. Same with Akavir. The mystery is tantalizing because you know someone has an answer outside of your reach and so you’re left with the crumbs they’ve left to imagine.
>>
>>563136805
There's a lot of side quests as well. I think I've already played an additional 10 hours at least, which makes it a good deal to me.
>>
>>563139264
The actual moment to moment gameplay is more like Daggerfall or Oblivion. It’s a procedural dungeon crawler with elements of Skyrim and Fallout 4 faction and companion wise. If you don’t like dungeon crawlers it might not be for you if the writing and quests don’t hook you. The cruise mode does make it feel more cohesive with exploration but it’s not quite Skyrim where you’re looking for secrets behind waterfalls and shit. Instead you have random encounters which can lead to unique stuff.
>>
>>563140271
I was stopped by a crazy ass dude that took a bunch of people on a ship hostage and asked me to play riddles with him. No idea if you could save the hostages.
>>
>>563139264
Dont go into the game expecting it to be skyrim, they purposely designed it to give you a little feeling of loneliness in the vastness of space. Quests are great though if you focus on that, with the new cruise mode and improve POIs you can find cool stuff in the world now too. Overall it's different from their other games but if you can appreciate it then you'd have a good time.
>>
>>563140372
>>563140604
i like procgen stuff like daggerfall and nms too but i need engaging, immersive systems, how solid is starfield in this aspect?
>>
Automatic weapons are fun to shoot, but it always feels like I just burn through ammo way too quickly, whereas with the same gun in semi-auto I kill everything in one or two shots and quickly end up with a fuckhuge stockpile of ammo.
>>
>>563140831
You can turn on hunger and thirst and there’s some other settings like that you can mess with to fine tune your experience but it’s still lacking in terms of a full survival system. There isn’t really a banking system but there are 2 perks where you have debt you have to pay off. One you have to send money to your parents (you only have parents if you choose this option) and another where you have a house you have to pay off. There’s other cool background stuff that clearly took inspiration from the another life type mods. Some of these give pros and cons. Theres also background perks that affect dialogue like cyberpunk. There’s gun customization from Fallout 4 with different parts you can swap out. There’s also fallout 4’s settlement system but it’s not as good in Starfield but it is there. You can do the resource autism between settlements if you want. The game has the resource gathering stuff from nms and you have a laser to mine rocks. There’s different health effects you need different types of medicine for rather than just being able to heal everything with one item. You can sprain your ankles and shit along with poison and environmental caused ailments like lung damage from breathing toxic surface vents. There’s also a cold and heat system.

I 100% agree with this cyberpunk analysis.
the "2.0" update for it was just bug fixes to the cops and like a perk mod lol
a lot of the major systems in cyberpunk still were crap after 2.0 like loot, crafting, perks, dialogue choices, and cinematic handholding in quests
It really was just the anime and a marketing astroturf push

It's just that cyberpunk is an established IP and to be fair, far deeper and interesting than Emil and Todd's version of The Expanse.

Yeah, vanilla color grading does sometimes get pretty hairy, and no amount of calibration on your end can fix it because there's literally no additional data to bring out of the shadows. To use /p/ lingo, the blacks do get crushed (except that they're actually magenta or whatever else depending on the area you're in).
There are ways to fix this but I'm not caught up on which ones are best.

>>563100090
starfield has a far larger scope than all their other games; in TES, you are exploring a small region of a continent on one planet, with said reegion being inhabited for thousands of years, so the POI density is greater and handcrafted to the lore of that particular game. Starfield takes place across many planets, that you can chose to land anywhere on, so procgen is the only way to go, and the lighter density is designed to convey a greater sense of scale.

i feel like some habs should do more than they do atm
>computer core
gives you 15% more power on top of the 2 crew slots
>control station
gives you +10% bonus on top of the skill bonuses of your crew (and the 4 slots)
>engineering bay
increases repair speed by +15%
>infirmary
actually lets you get treated by rosie (but i think a mod does that already)
>brig
already has a mod to let you arrest and imprison people

what do you guys think?

Something about pushing up against the collision spheres of the planets in cruise mode breaks my brain out of the free lanes matrix and I realize the planets are actually very small and only 10-20 meters away from my ship.

I've also noticed that when you open camera mode the planets all switch state from being small spheres maybe 50-100 meters across to being part of the skybox instead, if you go in and out of camera mode whilst pushing your ship against a planets collision you can see it jumping from extremely close to extremely far away.
>>
>>563166062
your 3rd person camera is actually hundreds of kilometers away from the ship and your ship is 50 times teh size of earth. and when you land the ship is just a landing craft, scale model of the actual ship

It's neat to see how bethesda put it all together, you can also see why they don't let you fully turn your camera sideways to your ship whilst colliding with a planet, you can only get that view in camera view when the planets are in skybox mode, I imagine being able to see the nose of a ship pointing towards a planet from the side in cruise mode would look very odd.

It definitely wouldn't work like your webm though, try to ram your ship into a star in cruise mode and when you start flying around it whilst pushing against its collision boundry you'll realize the star is also a small white spere, only about 10 meters across at best, with a big invisible sphere around it preventing you from getting close, you wouldn't see all those solar phenomena from getting near it, it'd just be a featureless ball

It's not that there should be identical files/folders in both My Documents and in Steam.
It's that you're forcing Starfield to only recognize one of these directories (the one in Steam) by cutting the files in My Documents and merging them under Steam (I think?)
As long as there are two data folders, Starfield will continue to read some stuff from one 'data', other stuff from the other 'data' (I think?) and ignore the mods you installed for some stupid reason.
but again, this is only what I've seen/read. There's probably a bit it more to the process.

This is actually a really good implementation of Black Jack. The only "cheat" is that other players can't join you at the table. It's electronic. That gives you better odds when basic strategy is implemented. The guy even includes a basic strategy explanation in a terminal at the table, just like dealers all carry basic strategy cards and are obligated to give you one is requested. I used to be pretty good at black jack, and I sat down with 50k caps and walked out with a million about 40 minutes later. The guy even programmed in a shoe. Honestly, the fact that you can blitz through hands makes this so much better than IRL or most electronic versions because you're not wasting time on pointless animations or for the dealer to do their job. It's not busted in your favor though, the dealer still holds the statistical advantage over you, and I went through some long cold streaks a few times but this is infinitely better than the "gambling" in RDR2 that Rockstar programmed to cheat in every way possible, including sending coolers to your table.

>>
>>563169918
There are like a billion videos on YouTube. Trying to explain how to build a ship using words is fruitless. There is a reason why instructions for assemblage of practically anything is done through pictures. Find a ship you live in terms of look, and then modify it to fit whatever you want to use. Stick to B class ships. C class are too big and clunky at the end of the day. It's probably the one time where the middle of the road option is the best option. C class is fun for RPing though.

>Vehicles
>Creations implementation
>Tracker Alliance
>the new shit they just released

The real meat, IMO, is in the mods. Creations being something you can easily monetize has been sort of a game changer for Bethesda in terms of baiting modders to stick around. There are a lot of very quality mods in there, stuff that's either on par with or exceeds Bethesda quality. Then there are the usual things you'll find (for free) on Nexus still. Recently someone picked up Outfit Studio for Starfield after the original guys who handled it for FO4 and Skyrim went on some gay boycott of Starfield. He used Claude to vibe code the rest of their job in a week, and now Outfit Studio works with Starfield. That is good because it means we'll start to see actual, high-quality, original outfits that weren't possible before without a lot of work being made. Just need to make it easier to get weapons into the game now, and we'll be in a pretty good spot, desu. Basically: focus on the mods, having a mod list around 150-200 is not unusual once you see what is available. The player made staryards (mostly) absolutely mog Bethesda's base ship components but you're gonna pay for them if you want them. IMO, they're worth it. Failing your willingness to spend money, download Forgotten Frontiers and all the Dark Universe content. Save Dark Star for once you're NG+++++ing, it's extremely autistic.

A few things to note about the Milliwhale pets
1. You can only keep them at your outposts and player homes, you can't have them on your ship for some reason

It was always hard to find a mod that just does one thing and does it well and works well with other mods, but the typical mod author can't help themselves and kept adding bullshit like that Fallout 4 mod that "fixes the Institute" but turns it into a BDSM whoring pub

Which is why I don't really bother looking into "overhaul mods" this time for Starfield, because chances are they don't work well with the rest of the game unless you plan your modlist around one. Hey I might be wrong for this one and they're actually well designed, who knows

So this update basically gives you 3 types of pets:
1. A guinea pig with different alien varieties. You mainly keep them caged up and see them run around in it
2. A milliwhale that you can only keep in your homes (not your ship) that comes with different skins and can do tricks
3. A little robot with customizable skins and personalities that can improve your ship and fight with you.
>>
>>563183187
Yes, but not a murder hobo.
>are there companions that are lawfully evil or morally grey?
No companions, but followers don't give a shit what you do.

>fallout series has a dog, a synth, a robo to follow you around
>starfield has "le ebin obnoxious fan" and 10 "generic npc" followers

why didnt the expansions add some space alien robot type shit companion or something cool
>>
>>563182540
Because Bethesda sucks at writing dialogue choices. Or rather, they put zero effort into them because they think everyone is just going to want to fight stuff every time anyway. Every single perk-based dialogue option is basically pic related.

>>563183187
Easily. You can kill and rob the civilians out outposts you find at the random POIs on any planet, and all the faction quest lines have some kind of choice near the end which gives you an option to do something greedy or morally dubious, with some having more of that in the middle but most quests are going to be the same no matter what. The Crimson Fleet is the best quest line if you want to be a real pirate.
>>
>>563183426
You'd want one that reduce the CPU load. Things like orbit simulation, NPC schedules, their stats, inventories, physics, etc.

join crimson fleet for smuggling and piracy missions
get Trackers Alliance creation for bounty hunting
in the new update there is an NPC with assassination missions
for companions, 4 main ones are all good goys and will whine when you have fun.
>>
>>563183187
Being an outlaw is pretty easy in this game actually. You can hail random ships you find in space and demand their cargo. You can even disable a ship's engines, board them, kill the crew, and take command of the vessel.
If you want to do smuggling, there's an entire pirate faction called the Crimson Fleet that you'll want to join because I think they're the earliest source of shielded cargo holds that can hide contraband from cargo scans.
>>
>>563184165
>>563184293

Is there a list of Creations (other than Trackers Alliance) that are worth getting?
Willing to spend a little if it's really well made and/or useful to enhance the game
>>
>>563184403
>bounty hunting
You'll want the trackers alliance creation for that. There is also a more basic type of bounty hunting you can do where you scan people at cities and outposts for bounties that you can claim after confronting them.
>>
>>563184403
>already talked down the first crimson fleet guy you meet at the beginning
>guess it's that
Get arrested in UC territory (try Jemison or Mars). You get propositioned to become a double agent for the cops, or you can tell them to fuck off and get the option to join up as a regular Crimson Fleet member by talking to a guy in Cydonia.

>is there bounty hunting?
Yes. There's the missions to destroy ships or hunt outlaws on the regular mission boards, there are special DLC missions from the Tracker Alliance (the first mission and joining them is free to get you to buy them), and you can scan crowds to find random glowing red people with bounties for the Tracker Alliance.
>do expansions interfere with main game factions?
No, everything is pretty self-contained. None of the faction quest lines prevent you from doing the other ones either. You can do the whole Crimson Fleet story as a pirate and even still help the UC military and Freestar Rangers if you want. Same is true of the expansion stuff.

This was the actual origin of the media campaign against Bethesda. Game journos form a clique of would-be tastemakers and if you don't play ball - providing content, and catering your content to their ideology - they will try to tear your business down. As much as they say they hate journos this stuff filters into places like /v/ or different fagtubers pretty quickly and takes on a life of it's own. But guys like Jason are always patient zero for it.

it's because of shit like this that I was hoping (am still hoping?) for some sort of comprehensive biology, geology, and zoology overhaul that better masks the shitty scan-a-thon it currently is. A miniscule amount of hope.
Maybe killing/sedating local fauna, extracting geo and floral samples, loading them up onto your rover, driving them back to your ship, and analyzing it with lab equipment either built-in to the landing bay or set up around your landing area.
Nothing too tedious - maybe it would still be more tedious than SCAN THREE ROCKS though

Bethesda confirmed it for one, but also in the game where there is a food item (I think it's the choco bites) that mentions it has a logo on it resembling a Labrador retriever and that they, like all dogs, went extinct centuries ago. It's been discussed to death that this is nonsensical, but Bethesda insists on the canonicity that all dogs died in Starfield.
>>
>>563202152
same i got no clue how to use it
>>
>>563202152
You mainly use it just to chill during travel in a system, it's not actually useful, it's just fluff. Same as all these types of the games. Mechanically though, what it adds are a bunch of PoIs you can encounter if you simply fly around while it is on for a little while. They'll start to appear after a minute or two at full thrust. Then once you see one you want to go to, to make it easier on yourself, hit space to autopilot and sit back until you're in the zone.
>>
>>563202152
>>563202337
You use it by holding T when you're piloting in space, you can then steer at sublight speeds or autopilot (my recommendation) to your selected destination.
It's faster to just fast travel but it's more immersive to do cruise, you also get random new Space POIs by using it, they'll appear as blue dots while you're speeding around and some of them are really cool (with new mini quests, etc)
>>
>>563202152
There's an option to hold T to activate cruise mode. And why would you? If you wanted a more immersive experience than just teleporting around, I guess. You also apparently have to do it for the Terran Armada content.
>>
what did you name your ship?
>>

>>563203717
It gets a lot more interesting later, but you have to suffer each Companion doing some missions with them, if you dislike them then it all becomes a slog. It's no narrative masterpiece but it's not as bad as people paint it to be, definitely better than the clusterfuck FO4's main story was.
>>
>>563203717
Yes, fortunately you only have to do it once, at which point you start hopping through NG+∞ and gain the option to largely skip constellation or sometimes they just won't exist, which makes for a really nice change of pace

On one of the wrecked ship POI in the base game, I didn't even notice the life support was turned off until halfway through. You can even go to sleep in the vacuum and not notice. Space doesn't feel hostile at all which means you also have no comfort or relief when you get to a safe place and can take off the suit

Using the ECS constant as a basis, we can presume that humanity by the time Earth become uninhabitable were capable of building ships holding occupants of at least a few hundred people. In a 50 year timespan, how many ships of that size capable of instantaneous travel through Grav Drive technology would need to be developed to get everyone off Earth and relocated to Jemison? And we also have to factor in the logistics of the whole thing, because the money and resources needed to accomplish this has got to be absolutely staggering.

The solution is to make every city a small district of a much larger inaccessible city.

>current Akila is the old town center of sprawling mixed zoning agricultural/industrial city
>Neon is one of hundreds of similar rigs seen in the distance

>Starfield has a reference limit problem that has been exacerbated by the addition of the update and new DLC. A group of experienced modders and mod authors have tried very hard to get Bethesda's attention on this matter, but they haven't addressed this troubling problem with the current update. Starfield can be broken with the right combination of fewer than 50 ship part mods, outpost decoration mods, and quest mods. And to think that Bethesda wants to sell their "Creation Club" mods to unsuspecting customers that are completely unaware of this limit. The unfortunate truth is that this game is not as moddable as Skyrim SE or Fallout 4.
Starfield's reference limit (2.09 million) is identical to Fallout 4's reference limit and it is a much more complex/reference heavy game. It is baffling that Bethesda has touted this game as a modder's paradise, when they didn't even bother to increase the reference limit to accommodate more mods. The new DLC and update has taken up another 170,000 of the available reference pool for Starfield. More and more modders are going to be experiencing crashes, infinite loading, missing landscape/building meshes, and corrupts saves now that the update has occurred.

is this true /stag/? if it is, the future of this game's moddability is fucked

The funny thing is Starfield has nearly 2 times the reference limit than Skyrim, yet because of how big this game is and how the procgen works, there's not enough room to mod it as extensively, and this is on top of the fact that Starfield also has a small BA2 archive limit, and things can start to get fucky if there's more than 250 installed, requiring you to extract or merge those archives to avoid problems. I have over 2500 active plugins in Skyrim and approx 300 in Starfield, yet I had to let go of several larger mods in the latter because of how even more buggy this game got with this update. For this game to get even close to Skyrim's modding potential, the reference limit needs to be pushed up significantly, probably up towards 10-50 million, and the BA2 archive limit up to 1000 at least.

I think the problem with space walking is somehow preventing you from getting too far away from your ship. We already have zero g sections.

I want to see more exotic space phenomenon. The starmap is set in a really boring party of the galaxy so we don’t get cool shit like black holes and pulsars. The way I would solve this is through a wormhole that takes you to a more interesting part of the galaxy where these things exist. You’d need to establish that people have already been through the wormhole so you can have POIs but maybe it has been a relative secret to the public until now. Or maybe a new faction made it there first, or there’s aliens on the other side. It would make for a nice map expansion.

I've never experienced this even with the really big ships. You understand to move the throttle to the sweet spot for turning and dog fighting, right? Do kids even know how to play Wing Commander these days?
>>
>>563245551
Do you have the first rank of Piloting? Thrusters make a huge difference.
>>
Is it possible to create a ship that can house like 8 copilot seats without it looking like a giant frisbee?
>>
Status check
Is it engoodened?

no

Am big shitter, will test things out. Also, where should I build my own first ship? I can see different places have their own brands.
>>
Welp, I can confirm that StarUI Workbench actually is broken, but only for the new weapons
>>
>>563247891
get the mod that enables all parts at all builders, because the way bethesda implemented part availability is fucking stupid
>>
>>563174758
So is the more vertical boost just gone now? It also kinda feels like the horizontal boost doesn't work as good as before but that could just be more imagination
>>
>>563245551
Depends on the ship you built, largely what thrusters are moving it and what its mass is. You have to actually design a fighter if you want it to fly like a fighter, under 1000 mass and white dwarf 3015 engines for top speed. Using a fighter for general purpose play isn't practical, though, so instead build a class C brick and use the new ship enhancement terminal you can build inside your ship from the decoration terminal and upgrade your ship's performance arbitrarily using x-tech, because that's a thing now, I guess
>>
If you're using the Usable Animation Markers mod and you're doing the Hidden Incursions quest, you need to temporarily disable it until that quest is finished, otherwise it will break the animation of an NPC getting arrested which will prevent the quest from progressing any further, forcing you to reload an older save.

I want better clothing (not space suits) that fit the setting

>Astrogate got deleted from Creations and disabled on Nexus
Uh oh
>>
>>563251883
who?
>>
Did we... fail?
>>
I heard Todd is getting sacked because of Starfield's poor PS5 sales.
>>
>>563252407
Astrogate is the mod that did interplanetary travel before Bethesda implemented it. Also allowed for real time grav jump travel.
>>
>>563252551
I heard you're a little faggot
>>
>>563252608
He definitely loves it up the ass
>>
>>563252605
remember, you automatically agree that all mods you make are the property of bethesda when you make mods for bethesda games :)
>>
haven't plaeed since shattered space, I forgot how much I actually enjoy this game
>>
>>563252551
Nice source. He’s not getting sacked unless tes6 does poorly.
>>
>>563253819
He's not getting sacked at all. He's leaving after TES VI regardless. He's only got one more game left in him.
>>
>>563253934
I wonder who will replace him. Emil?
>>
>>563253971
emil is getting fat again. will this improve his work?
>>
>>563254242
doubtful
I was hopeful that Far Harbor guy would be the next Todd but they pushed him out of the company by forcing him to make creation kit tutorial videos for new hires, lol
Will Shen I think was his name
>>
>>563138005
Looking forward to that since I want flavorful guns but most sucked.

>why is it that when robots are stored in an empty space, they will gather together rather than stand alone?
>>
>>563253934
I think he’s talked about wanting to do Fallout 5 recently. I think his plan was to do TES6 and one more Fallout before either retiring or taking on different role at Bethesda likely as some kind of brand ambassador.
>>
I think the unity is evil guys.
>>
>>563255952
>>
>>563254382
Didnt he leave to make another project. We havent heard anything since. I dont think things are going well for him either
>>
>>563256527
yeah he did but he explained why he left in a gdc talk. thus the public knowledge of him being forced to be a tutorial making bitch
>>
Sarah was just snarky and dismissive to Andreja. Wtf bitch.
>>
>>563256871
Was it really that demeaning? Was he not getting paid? I feel like we're only getting half the story and he may have ruffled a few feathers by being a bitch too. Not to say Bethesda is squeaky clean, because for some reason Emil continues to be in Todd's good graces.
>>
>>563254382
He wrote the main story quest for Starfield, which everyone said is worse than what Emil wrote for Skyrim and Fallout 4.
>>
>>563256936
Sarah is a very judgemental Karen type of character and it's understandable why a lot of people don't like her. I'm still banging her though
>>
>>563257107
The writing isn’t worse it’s the set pieces which aren’t as interesting.
>>
>>563257095
he was kind of the public darling for making fallout 4 more like a RPG with the far harbor dlc.
maybe it made people jealous in the company, it's not unheard of for more senior leadership people to sabotage others to keep their position.
maybe Emil was involved?
maybe Todd didn't like his vision? Todd really likes casualized games and less RPG elements now
>>
>>563257253
She called her paranoid for thinking people were being distant towards her and then said they were just not used to a snake worshipper being around. Then she was like “I’m sure they will come around”. The way the voice actress said it sounded really bitchy and I can’t tell if that is just classic Bethesda not directing their voice talent or if she was meant to sound like a bitch.
>>
>>563257429
If I remember one interview I've read, he said something like bethesda being full of seniors and veterans that never left the company since morrowind so promotion is hard which is why he went to join another company as lead writer.
>>
>>563258726
part of the puzzle Im sure, reading in between the lines it seems like he thinks he can write better game stories than Emil which I don't doubt
>>
>>563258726
Even Kuhlmann got shafted. He was promised development lead over TES 6 by Todd which Todd took back and then they sacked him. Kuhlmann was literally the elder scroll guy in the company who massively contributed to the series and lore and they threw him away like garbage. Being one of the leads on an rpg that sold 60 million copies means nothing I guess.
>>
>>563257107
doesnt seem like he was that passionate about it, the tutorial video stuff might play a part.
Emil is also still the design director so he still plays a huge role in the story
>>
>>563259254
I dont think they sacked him, he quit because of getting shafted
and yeah that is a super weird move by todd
>>
>>563260751
Todd probably had nothing to do with it, pretty much all of the big name old blood departures from Bethesda cited Microsoft and the changes they made to the studio as a major grievance
>>
>>563260751
I just hope he’s at least still consulted for the lore stuff in tes6 otherwise it could be a disaster especially if the eso lore guy is in charge.

Any mods that fix up the ugly NPCs and make them look normal? I assume it has to be on another site than the Nexus sounds like something that would get banned on there these days.
>>
>>563262248
No. Kuhlman specifically said him not getting the position was the major factor of him quitting

I think he’s playing pr for the company. Kirkbride basically said he was fired back when news of it first came out. He wants to make it seem like it was on his terms. I think he wasn’t budging on some demands and they let him go.
