Alright, assuming you were doing something significantly more than remaking FNV. Like a rewriting of sorts.-How would you re-write the Legion to make them more appealing as a faction to side with?-Or, if you find the Legion to be a bunch of skirt-wearing pansies, what would you create in their place?
>>563179580>-How would you re-write the Legion to make them more appealing as a faction to side with? You would have to put women in some sort of role of authority. Like natural medicine doctors or something that doesn't show them as wholly evil
>>563179580>-How would you re-write the Legion to make them more appealing as a faction to side with?Wouldn't really rewrite them, but expand on the cut content idea of seeing Legion controlled territory, and at least one Legion aligned companion.
>>563179580Aren't they supposed to be providing order and security? You could probably start with that so that rather than just crucifying and enslaving people as we see in the game, have it where people in the Legion are more akin to serfs. They have to work, but the Legion will feed and protect them. Meanwhile in the NCR you have your freedom, freedom to starve to death or have a pack of geckos tear apart your village
>>563179580Show what life is like in the Legion territories for non-combatants. Caesar talks about permanent Legion settlements but since we never get to experience them we only really have the perspective that comes from the most aggressive militaristic parts of their culture. It would be like your entire impression of Americans being living in Afghanistan and meeting soldiers off base. My issue every time I attempt a Legion playthrough that you go to the camp and meet people there and it's just "hey look at slaves suffering" and if you play as a female courier there's clear rape threats happening to you. Makes it very hard to sympathize. In general the game makes a sort poor attempt showing the Legion punishing people who are genuinely evil. Raul makes references to how the Legion wiped out gangs in Arizona and while I understand why the Legion would leave the fiends alone to cause chaos in the NCR, if some similarly horrendous gang was killed by Legion it would kind of soften their image. The general setting of the game also gives the NCR bonus points right off the bat because they are the already established force in the region. The Legion are invaders, bringing their military force. That instantly makes most people critical of them before the intro slides even end. The fact you never visit any Legion settlements or even really talk to more than a single Legion settler, does the faction no favours. Something as simple as like some sort social hub for support personnel in the Fort where civilians/traders/caravaneers were staying and could tell you even more about life in the Legion would help massively.
God Bless AmericaGod Bless The Enclave
>>5631795801) there should be a significant explorable civilian area so that can actually see the results of the legion's brutality (i.e. safe roads, perhaps good commerce, stories of tribes being uplifted, but also potentially a sense of unease among the lower classes)2) while i don't think it's completely terrible writing, it's pretty cheap for caeser's successor to be so obviously worse and more extreme than him (and to have this straight up told to the player). it's like they wanted to put in a failsafe so that no one would ever have to lose an internet argument about hating the legion - "oh it doesn't matter what they've done, lanius is gonna ruin it as soon as caeser dies"
>>563179731Cracks me up that the only two women you can encounter in the Legion that I can remember off the top off my head are the healer at the fort who's beaten like a dog and not given access to anything, and the little girl who tends to the brahmin. And I guess there's also the generic slave women. It's like they really wanted you to know being a woman in the Legion is AWFUL. They couldn't even bear the thought of having a woman have anything positive to say. Just flat out saying 50% of the Legion population are treated like dogs lmfao. Especially strange when you think about how women in Rome actually had a pretty decent deal when you compare them to the rest of the world at the time
>>563183245>Just flat out saying 50% of the Legion population are treated like dogs lmfaoIt really highlights why the Legion is losing to the NCR. They're 100% against the Legion and will use anyone who wants to fight or support them.
You know I'm starting to think they might just be done with the Burning Springs at this point. (I did really want them to make the river area buildable)The sparseness of the recent updates feels like they're just focusing on their big finale update for Summer 2027 (almost certainly the Capital Wasteland). We know at some point there's going to be a little something for Skyline Valley, but these recent updates have been a new low for 76 so I'm really not expecting anything

>>563179580>How would you re-write the Legion to make them more appealing as a faction to side with?Bring back the original ideas from Van Buren like the Daughters of Hecate and have them engage in a civil war with Caesar. If you side with Caesar, the Legion stays a misogynistic, patriarchal military dictatorship. If you side with Hecate, the Legion becomes the female-dominated inverse. Make it so that Caesar's (or Hecate's) plans for the Mojave isn't to turn everyone into slaves, and highlight that the only people who get made into slaves are usually lawless tribals and raiders with no moral code, rather than civilized types. Have it so that Caesar breaks character around you more often. If you pass an INT check, he could take you to a secret hideout away from the eyes and ears of his Praetorians, and tell you something like:>Hey, these fucking retards think I'm a god or some shit, but I'm only using them for my own goals. >If you help me win, we could rule this shithole together. I'll mint a coin with your face on it, you will become my successor and after that you can reshape the Legion into whatever you want. >Once we plunder the NCR and Vegas, you can even turn the Legion into Space Romans or Roman Cowboys if you want. So it slightly mirrors the Elijah ending, two guys just plotting to take over the world with a bunch of smooth-brained simpletons instead of fart gas.
>>563192078>Have it so that Caesar breaks character around you more often. The problem is that Cesar is a smooth brianed idiot that huffs his own farts
>>563179580>How would you re-write the Legion to make them more appealing as a faction to side withI'd probably tone down the misogyny. The Legion comes across as hateful towards women, when I feel like the Legion should view women akin to children, in that a child doesn't know what's good for them.
>>563179580Double down on the Roman-ness. Full priestesshood with an emphasis on fertility. Not for the lewd potential, but because Caesar needs soldiers for his global conquest. As the Son of Mars, he needs soldiers. Simple as.Give him a High Priestess wife. Whether they actually love each other or not is irrelevant. Having her as a character involved in "civilian affairs", rather than militaristic ones helps to provide a different perspective. The religiosity also helps to show WHAT and WHY people believe in Caesar more than a few lines about "his will is law". Also, there's a certain power in "The power of Juno/Minerva/Venus shall return fertility to the ground of the wasteland." It also helps to ground the female enslavement in a purpose and ideology rather than cruelty for cruelty's sake.>>563181586Legion civilian infrastructure is a MUST. I'd kind of love a few simple Fable-esque "jobs" you can do. It'd be the kind of thing players wouldn't do for very long, but it'd show how Legion territory is stable enough that you can just... have a day job.>>563182364#2 is simple. Have a questline where you assist Caesar with sorting out the succession. After you help in (in secret) deal with the cancer, he realizes his mortality and works with you to sort it out. (Or the Priestess wife does.)>Lucius>Vulpes>Lanius>Player (Big Skill checks required)>>563182483I've thought about posting that so many times, but thought the cameltoe would get me in trouble. Lol.>>563184072Legion really isn't losing, though. NCR is overextended and, without player intervention, is losing every battle in the Mojave. That isn't to say that they wouldn't have lost the big battle, but they're winning when the game starts.>>563192078I'd say less him "breaking character", but more "you're capable. I'm bringing you into the decision making." The issue with Lucius, Vulpes, and Lanius is that each is 1/3rd of what he needs his heir to be. The player can exemplify all of it.
>>563193436>picdid they even value caps in vault 111?
>>563192078>Have it so that Caesar breaks character around you more oftenI never felt like Caesar was playing a character, unless you're talking about your new version of Caesar.
>>563193775That's Vault 101, judging by the Tunnel Snake jacket. And no, there's no reason caps should be brought up, unless they're both cap collectors, which is a stretch.

The issue with Lucius, Vulpes, and Lanius is that each is 1/3rd of what he needs his heir to be. The player can exemplify all of it.It definitely is "breaking character", the rest of the Legion doesn't see Caesar as Edward Sallow. Only Joshua knew about Caesar before the Legion because he co-founded the Legion with him. The Legion see Caesar as the Son of Mars, blessed to lead a great triumph over the west. Even doubting Caesar's divinity can get you killed. If instead, Caesar knew you weren't dumb enough to buy into the religious mumbo jumbo he teaches his soldiers, he should've been able to level with you and explain that he's making the best out of a bad situation and using an army of retards to bring peace and stability to the wasteland. It's lame that Caesar is able to have more in-depth political discussions with an enslaved Arcade than a high INT courier.

>>563205456Only if they have anime boobs
>>563179580yeah I would have to agree with the rest of the anons saying to turn down the misogynythe women should be treated way better but not as equals but also not as slaves, they can't be soldiers necessarily, with the very few exceptions of some being spies for the legionas for an authoritative position, I can only see a "mother" type of role where someone is teaching the other women and girls of the legions rolesand only this " leading mother" character will be capable of punishing or disciplining another woman, so if a legionnaire has a problem with a woman, instead of beating her, he must restrain himself and report to the "mother" or he will be punished
>>563208229I like the Legion being misogynist, I think it makes them unique. That being said, it's still evil what they do and it makes them an unsuitable faction for general gameplay since it alienates the player and most characters. I think it would've been better if they gave more options to a female courier that made siding with the Legion worthwhile, like having a quest to replace Caesar with Hecate as I said before and/or explicitly suggesting that the Legion becomes slightly more progressive and less misogynistic as a result of the courier's actions. You don't have to tone down the misogyny but simply have it so that the player can explicitly change it somehow. What would've been cool is if they kept the post-game content and added an NPC that thanks the female courier for inspiring Caesar to give women more rights and privileges.

The Legion is right about women.
>>563179580>How would you re-write the Legion to make them more appealing as a faction to side with?mostly by showing the negative side of NCR frankly which is barely portrayed1. lean into their strong points, traders praise legion for safe travels, give the jackals/scorpions/Khans more active role in disrupting NCR supply lines, NCR is powerless to stop them until you help in various locationsif Legion takes over show those tribes are defeated or absorbed (would be pretty kino to have entire stretch of road full of crucification victims like macabre Spartacus' punishment) without preamble2. Heck(nice name bud) Gunderson or other big wig Brahmin Baron is escorted by NCR troops, they are passing near a settlement, group of mutants are rounding up locals like cattle, you're just an extra escortNCR squad is about to intervene but they are ordered to not engage by Baron and leave locals to their fate, if you intervene the quest is failedunbeknownst to you single local witnessed everything before fleeinglater legion party arrives and kills off mutants and rescues what remained of the locals, each of the locals swore to join Legion, rare example of Legion honor and NCR's failure3.NCR refugees denied food supplies due to bureaucracy
>>563209964their treatment of women is why half of the legion is full of homosexuals.
Would the Fallout 3 family be cooler if they wore black makeup and had goth girls?
>>563210424Sort of curious about this point. There's obviously the historical reference part of it, and Cass makes some jokes about it. But is homosexuality ever mentioned or even implied from the Legion side? I know people joke about Vulpes being a femboy, but are there any members of Legion who make any references? >>563209964Everyone hyperfixates on the Legion's misogyny when their treatment of men is just as bad. Like sure, Legionaries can treat women as poorly as they like and it's handwaved by Caesar, but they can do that to anyone, including traders. Even the one trader in the game that fellates the Legion because they don't tax him as much, admits that a Legionary killed one of his pack brahmin and he was powerless to do anything about it.Even Legionaries don't get a fair deal. Legionaries in Ancient Rome got service terms, pay, cash pensions, etc. They could retire peacefully after service with land granted to them from the state. Legionaries in FNV are expected to live for Caesar and die for Caesar, they cannot leave. They are effectively slaves, just like the women are — the only difference is that the men are valued for their combat prowess, and the women are valued for their reproductive potential. The Legion is a utilitarian society, almost exaggeratedly so. I think realistically the Legion would be much smaller at the time of New Vegas because it's unrealistic that Caesar could conquer an entire state and everyone under it just decides to die for him, while their sisters and mothers become breeding stock for men of different tribes and ethnic makeup.
>>563227919People only care when bad things happen to women.

>>563228671>PeopleIt's mainly men. Most men are completely unsympathetic to other men. Women can be terrifyingly sadistic to each other, but they'll still feel more united with each other than with a man who isn't in their immediate family (and even then sometimes they'll side with each other over their own brothers or fathers). Men would torture and kill their own brothers for pussy, it has happened many times in the past throughout history and it will continue to happen because men are instinctually programmed to be simps. The Legion replaces simping for women with simping for Caesar, which is probably the most significant indirect cause for homosexuality running rampant throughout the Legion. If your whole identity is being submissive to a guy, being dommed by a guy, your closest relatives being cum receptacles for a buff nigger, then yeah you'll probably become a cocksucking twink slave because you'll learn to get off on it, just like cuckolds do.
I think the solution to the Fallout question is that everyone smokes crack. There would be no wars if everyone smoked crack.

He is Caesar.I agree that I'd of liked more high INT interactivity, but I think we can all agree the Legion got hurt the most by time crunch. >>563227919I appreciate your point, but I think you've missed the implicit answer within your own criticism. The men of the Legion get their pick of the litter, so to speak. That's the difference between being a civilian in Legion territory and being a Legionnaire. And, in a post-apocalyptic world much more like the iron age than our own, I can see Caesar finding men willing to leave their families behind for the glory of battle and the prizes (both wealth and flesh) to be had. Especially if you consider the fact that he's had 2-3 decades to religiously indoctrinate people.Realistically, we should see Centurions returning to tents where they've got a handful of slave women in their bed and gelded manservants to pour wine.>>563226304Agreed. I like some busty blondes, but the sheer plasticness of it just ruins it, imho.>>563224007Always a dress for Veronica.>>563210201Having a more dynamic map would've been a great way to show it, yeah. Having the player run through the area around Nipton, facing several different tribes of savages, only to later find it eerily safe among the crucifixions would definitely feel it, I think. However, I imagine fast traveling would undermine that setup. I think it'd need a more comprehensive map control system that what is achievable in the game, imho. And making it dynamic would completely ruin the story pacing. (IE: Player fully conquers the map for one faction, but quests still act as if the ball is up in the air.) A few set piece territory exchanges would be a huge game changer, though.
>>563257763>I can see Caesar finding men willing to leave their families behind for the glory of battle and the prizes (both wealth and flesh) to be had. Except that never happens. We never see any instances of someone volunteering to join the Legion, because there aren't any logical reasons to do so. Every soldier in the Legion is conscripted, their tribes conquered and their kin enslaved. They are not mercenaries. There are maybe a few reasons for the player character (still way less than the other factions) to join the Legion but those are heavily dependent on your RP, and those reasons are typically exclusive to the player character like the Legion fast tracking you through their ranks, if you were a nobody the Legion wouldn't give a shit. These reasons are not applicable to 99% of the Legion.Legion ideology states that the individual has no value to the state beyond what they offer to Caesar; as stated before, they are not rewarded with land grants or pensions. While they carry Legion coins, these coins can only be traded within Legion territory, and the things you can trade them for are minuscule and usually only basic things necessary for survival. I think it's clear these coins are mainly used to trade for provisions such as consumables — hardly living the life of luxury. >we should see Centurions returning to tents where they've got a handful of slave women in their bed and gelded manservants to pour wine. This makes it sound like everyone in the Legion just loooves Caesar because he provides whores for their sex addiction. In reality (and even in Fallout), most of the value in owning slaves comes from the ability to trade them. If every slave is property of Caesar, who exactly are Centurions trading slaves to? Quite simply, they aren't. So slaves don't really provide much value to a soldier that he can't get on the battlefield. Since the Legion are rapists they could just end up raping a random tribal or NCR trooper they find in the wastes anyway.
>>563257763>he has abandoned his former identity to the degree of attempting to murder anyone who knows of it. He is Caesar. For the retarded tribals that live under him, sure. For individuals he sees as useful like the Courier, not at all.Arcade, as well as many of the Followers, know about his identity as Edward Sallow and yet Caesar not only keeps Arcade around as his personal physician if you enslave him, but also grants the Followers free exit out of the Mojave, something not offered by Lanius. He also talks about his time in the Followers to the player, so he's not fully disconnected from it yet. It's clear that the "Caesar" act is just a front, he enjoys talking with other intellectuals like Arcade more than he does with any of his lieutenants.

I'll bring up one thing nobody here has yet though, the Legion is in dire need of actually likable and charismatic characters. Nearly everyone is either a gruff asshole and/or a complete sociopath, which makes it hard to sympathize or empathize with them. I turn around and there's this kid, just skin and bone, and he's looking up at us and he's scared half to death. Been hiding in a closet. I go to grab him out of there and I notice he's holding something in his hand. Something metal. He shuts himself back inside the closet and that's when I see the grenade he's left by my feet. They do it a lot, the Legion. Using kids. They know we'll hesitate.
my last FO4 modded playthrough was close to 2 years ago. have there been any new sexo mods since then? or is just the same old animation packs still the only thing out there?
>>563331586Some animation packs but nothing to Skyrims level
>>563329613That's Jihadist tactics, so I was right. People who believe they're righteous will do all sorts of twisted shit to achieve their agenda. Like when Charlie got Kirked, and those progressives cheered.
>Caesar's Legion>Senator Armstrong>Adachi>LoghainThe quadfecta of "ackshually they were right all along" *mutilates a baby*.
>>563335541That's the problem with the "ends justify the means" approach. What is a couple of war rapes and murdered children in the grand scheme of things? Those are merely means to a great and good end. Just make sure you actually win and the plan works.
So when playing fallout 4 are you just expected to waste a few levels every playthrough on special stat upgrades?
>>563343157What makes you say that?
>>563343274You don't get many starting points and going below 3 on any SPECIAL stat heavily gimps your character
>>563344301It encourages you to plan out your build. It's never been a problem for me.
>>563343157Use PRKF and the New Vegas perks and skills mod, Fallout 4's perk system is lame
>>563343157Yeah, but it's fine because you get perk points every level>>563346554I like S7 way more
From Piper, Curie, and Cait, Cait most likely has the stinkiest vagina.
>>563345161Metagaming fallout 4 of all fucking things is a level of autism I will never understand.
>>563355840Brosky, are you fucking high? RPGs are built with replay in mind. Sure, the first playthrough should be done without meta knowledge, but the other times should be done with knowledge from previous playthroughs.
If Super Mutant can't shit cum from their dicks, how did The Master not catch on that is plan was a bust?
>>563358932Yeah it's strange he never tried making two super mutants breed at all, or enslaving a vault as part of his plan
>>563358932They can, based on Marcus fucking a prostitute in F2. He comments on worrying if he got her pregnant. So, the lack of viability isn't apparent.>>563359316That's, honestly, a bit more egregious.
>>563343157If you're on an INT build, it doesn't matter
>>563359490Chris Avellone said Marcus was joking about that. Though, it comes across as backtracking by Avellone. Which I'm not complaining about, because it would've ruined the plot Fallout 1.
>>56332736425% damage is nothing to scoff at - if you're pretty sure you'll be using those weapons. Chance's Knife benefits from both Grunt and Cowboy for a double dip
>>563358932Super mutants can definitely have sex. Reproducing is something else entirely. They shoot blanks.
my godhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2E6yZJ7-Ig
>>563343157Not if you plan out your build properly
Have you ever made a character whose race is different from your own? I tried just for a normal playthrough but couldn't really get into it, I project onto my characters too much.I only see white OCs in these threads so I guess it's a common phenomenon? Maybe I'm just autistic
Does anyone else think that Bethesda always take two steps forward and four steps back with every design decision they make? Fallout 4's perk system would've actually been great if the game itself offered more opportunities to roleplay, and of course if the UI wasn't just a 10x10 grid. I feel like if you ported that system back into New Vegas removing some shitty perks like VANS, having Charisma replace Speech and if you brought back the NV flavor perks (like Terrifying Presence, Sneering Imperialist, etc), you could've actually had a pretty intuitive system for an FPS/RPG. There's no real reason for there to be four orientation perks either, or even to have them as perks. You could've had one trait called "Sex Appeal", and that could've given you all of the flirty dialogue options but instead of just passing them, their success rate is gauged by CHR. Just because you have access to all of them doesn't mean you should pick them all the time, and maybe, just maybe, percentage-based speech checks (while awful in most scenarios) do have some justified application in certain contexts, just not for every speech check.
>>563368842>10x10 Should've said 7x10.I'm getting tired.
>>563368842I mean, sure, Bethesda could do it, but I don’t think it’d be any good. It’s still modern-day Bethesda, they’re absolutely terrible at writing. I’d much rather have a game that doesn’t pretend to be a deep RPG and is just a fun sandbox like Fallout 4 than a pathetic attempt at an RPG like Fallout 3.
>>563369367>Hey, chef! My lasagne is undercooked! Can you bring me a pile of literal shit to eat instead?!This is what you sound like.
>>563369673Your analogy doesn't work. You’ve been served lasagne by a chef who’s been making nothing but lasagne for the last 20 years and suddenly you start bitching that you want pizza because some other chef made you a pizza once. I mean, they used to make pizza here, but now they make lasagne. If you like, you can go to that new place where that old chef still makes pizza
>>563370342It's more like if the place that once served lasagne started making progressively shittier lasagne up until they started serving it without the sauce or the cheese. When people start complaining that the lasagne isn't really a lasagne anymore, there's retards like you that go "It was never really lasagne to begin with, just sheets of pasta! Sure it used to be something resembling lasagne 20 years ago, but hey, it was still pretty shitty" like that just excuses the fact that instead of making better lasagne, the restaurant just decided to serve pasta instead, while still calling it lasagne.
>food analogy
I want Frank Horrigan to destroy me
>food analogy Bro can't even spell lasagna. Tf is with millennials and misspelling words
Does anyone know if the very subtle auto-aim system in 3 and NV is affected by weapon skill? I mean, is the game more likely to cheat with your shots if you have a higher skill?
>>563374989>I mean, is the game more likely to cheat with your shots if you have a higher skill?yes, especially in VATS
>>563371956BoS runs in 4 are always fun. Guaranteed PA and heavy weapons are a blast. Fallout 4 should've just been an FPS spinoff.
Think about Fallout as a lasagna from a local Italian restaurant. The sauce is a bit too sour, but it’s otherwise what you might expect. A few years pass and the restaurant is bought out by a fast food chain. Everything from the sauce to the pasta to the cheese is changed and everybody knows the reason is the “cost of the ingredients” despite the chain having much more money and time than the previous local owner. All of the locals quit going but the recognizable chain offsets the losses with its own larger consumer base. Then the chain releases the New Lasagna, a highly controversial menu item that uses processed insects in place of ground meat, and features vegan pasta and cheese. In addition, the sauce is much too sweet and flavored with artificial sweeteners. This abomination of food tarnishes the chain’s reputation and makes many customers angry but is ultimately not pulled from the menu. The New Lasagna simply exists alongside the “classic” menu items, items that have already been modified beyond recognition. Then the chain quietly pulls the “classic” lasagna from the menu entirely and begins advertising its bug lasagna as lasagna. A longstanding customer of the chain points out that the lasagna isn’t really lasagna, it’s artificial, tasteless, and low quality factory food to its core. The vegans reply that for people who want to eat meat, McDonald’s has a restaurant on the same street.
