Pearl Abyss gets away with this by only doing a flat 2.5D sim. It's a more crude method, and limiting it to shallow water and a flatter dimension is how they manage performance costs.

>>563602829You will struggle in the long run if you don´t cook at all. The easiest is cooking meat, but the best recipe is clear soup. Yes it takes some time, but then you got for many hours of healing. There is unlimited water in the wells, find one and get 100 water. There is one just beneath the cliff at your camp in Hernand, next to a shop that sells horsegear. Buy up all the meat, because any meat and bird works in clear soup, buy up all the grain because any kind of grain works in the clear soup. Now cook it all several times. Every time you switch either meat or grain it asks you to make another batch, but after you cooked it, it goes in the same inventory as clear soup. Now you run around with 100 clear soups, 240 hp healing which works for most of game, if not the entire game, I personally switch to a meat and vegetable porridge in the end, but strictly I didn´t have to. You´re going to have a tough time taking on all the bosses if you can´t heal up. Having so many healings of the same kind helps in a boss fight, that way you don´t go from a healing item that gives 200 hp to one that gives 50 in the middle of a fight. The key to working a well is this. Put on youtube. Have the the bucket just get barely underneath water, it makes a sound when it gets underneath, then have it barely get above water, it makes a sound again when it gets up, you don´t lower and raise it every single time, just lower it slighty and raise it slightly. 20 times for 100 water and hours upon hours of gameplay. I think plenty of players came to this playstyle independently.

To be honest, I think Ator was 40 healings and 10 palmar pills, but I got him in my second attempt. By the way, the unlimited water also gives unlimited palmar pills.

He holds a unique position in the story, so the game is undeniably about him even if he doesn't stand out as a character.

I get him second try with 4 refined palmar pills left and 13 porridges. Did I get around gathering gear to kill him? Absolutely not, I started out my journey with 7 frost protection and that is what I killed him with. Even forgot to light the last lantern right at the fighting ground to make sure I didn´t fight in a blizzard, doesn´t matter. Do I know his moveset? I don´t have to, he is dead, never to return again. Did I make some nice moves? Absolutely not, I pressed right click and force palm and sometimes a turning slash and a lot of f3. Easiest fight of my life.
