If you get closer, you can see the conversation while a elf guard is there to prevent a tragedy.

Hot take but I think it's a mistake for the devs to say they won't make anymore male characters and pivoting to self-insert pandering before the game even had time to see if it had an audience. The setup of the game doesn't feel like a typical gacha games. There's no (You), it feels like a regular JRPG where all the characters interact with each other instead of (You), even Cloud is just a character rather than (You). I read the dev post where they said they won't add any more males and they also said in the future they'll add features like the characters talking to (You) (not Cloud) and develop their relationship... but that's not at all what the game feels like right now, so it's going to feel jarring when they pivot to that.
