Might be Monday morning quarterbacking but I don't think it's that complicated. The biggest rift in this games playerbase is casuals and people who treat it like a job. Most casual players fall off because of how lonely and alienating the game is when 80% of the people playing are at level cap and doing higher tiers on repeat with their guilds. You can throw those people some new raids but ultimately I think classic should be about making Azeroth feel alive again with world events and greater emphasis on grouping up for content before 60

classic+ would be a good opportunity to bring back the things that made WoW successful in 2004 while adding some things to maybe even make the leveling experience more compelling

Be nice if you got an exp bonus for alts once you got a character to 70. I enjoy the leveling and questing experience once in a while but the thought of the doing it all over again at the same speed puts me off. And the blizzard boost is shamelesly jewishly expensive.

The players are completing the t4 content in hours so they feel like they have not a lot to do for 7 days until the next reset.

The logical step is to make alts and get more raiding done with multiple chars.

Leveling is slow so they buy gold, pay for boosts.

A partial solution that comes to mind is to give us one prenerf and postnerf lockout a week. This way you blast the postnerf content and try to do the harder stuff until next lockout. You get a chance at more gear, since you have dual spec you need multiple tier sets, etc.
