I finally looked at the before and after stat gains of buying stars in a level and holy shit it's fucking NOTHING. It really only exists to unlock your senior and you're better off buying the 4 coin reroll every wave to try and find something good if it's not going to cost you interest and then buying the stars as additional rerolls later on.
