One of my absolute favorite parts of any modern survival/adventure/horror game is when the player can examine key items in their hands. I really want this to be in Resident Evil, with more emphasis on moving the item around to find details/secrets for puzzles.I can't wait to see the puzzle and key items in Silent Hill 1 remake

I don't understand the "challenge" of RE9 insanity mode? The game asks you to do things you just can not actually do. Run away from this enemy, but in the next room is 3 enemies blocking your way and the 4th coming up behind you. The only way to go in through these 4 enemies. But there literally is not enough ammo in the entire play-space to even be able to kill them all. Even if you used every shot, every knife, the game gives you at that point, outside of RNG crits, you CAN NOT kill them all. Even if you did, you would not have enough ammo for anything that comes next; and that's just some single room/hallway. Get hit once? If it's a "big" enemy you die instantly, otherwise you take 2 hits. Healing is actually useless if it doesn't heal you to full because if you're not at full HP, you die no matter what, so you must save/not use the healing until you get a full heal. Running away or kiting the enemies only helps so much and typically just leaves the problem for later and in a worse state than before; if it even works at all because you can't push the enemies out of your way.I mean I just don't get it? It's not really a "challenge" it's just more like a time wasting exercise. Can you get past all this shit? Yeah you COULD, but if you don't, haha, do it all over again because you have to use the ink ribbons to save! It's like completely antithetical to how you should play the game. The game encourages you to use the completion points to unlock the bonuses to play insanity mode, but what is the point of that? You're eliminating all of the "challenge" by using things like infinite ammo. Anyone can beat the game with infinite ammo, infinite ammo takes away the threat of every enemy and obstacle in the game.I mean seriously, explain this shit to me? It makes no sense and turns the game from a fun game into something that is just tediously annoying and boring.

It's been streamlined into what is basically a co-op Mercenaries campaign. Visibly less put together and rough around the edges than the previous entries in so many ways. Aesthetically it's an expensive and lavish product but artistically it's totally incohesive.Fundamentally Resident Evil 6 was really damn fun to play because there's a great suite of combat tools to use, amazing animation and nonstop action. But so much of what surrounds that fantastic combat is just way too eye-rolling. There's way too many ideas and too ambitious to come together without a supreme talent at the helm directing the ship.

Imagine you just ran through "the park" area, now you look out to see a really cool looking building in the distance. No markers or objectives, and the game will try leading you there itself obviously but you should be able to make the decision to head straight there or go somewhere else. You find a notice or a hint on the door about what you might need to do to get inside, then go back off adventuring through the city to find the key item. Lots of zombies and enemies and monster creatures to encounter and flex your combat muscle on. Then you find it, "Library Employee Only Key", and you backtrack through another area to reach the backside of that building, and enter into a "legacy location". No longer just running down streets and blasting zombies, you have a little 1-2 hour long legacy RE experience. The pace slows down, the horror atmosphere goes up, there's puzzles and traps and environmental storytelling alongside powerful enemies that push the tension and fight/flight sense. Maybe you meet a new character inside who can send you on a mission, furthering the exploration loop. You'd fight a great boss, find another mysterious key and some treasure at the end of the dungeon, and have no clue where the key goes. You head back into town to try the key on every street level locked door you've found so far and bam, you find an area with some storytelling, a brand new powerful rifle or shotgun, a new attack, etc. This would give you a sense of interconnectivity and non linearity while providing major rewards for diligence

I’ll just say something I’ve been thinking about recently. We need more terrorism. In games, I mean (go away glowies). Horror games, at that. Just think about it. Are there even any around? That shit is horrifying. Being in those situations must be a literal nightmare. But I also would like to be the terrorist for once and have the tables turned on you somehow but also enjoy a power fantasy of sorts. I think Resident Evil is the perfect vehicle for this and the best chance we have. We already know criminal groups are the main consumers of BOWs. Imagine the next game starting out with you playing as insurgents or ‘separatists’ or ‘rebels’ or whatever the hell and just unleashing hell on people. Then, you’re suddenly guinea pigs and being hunted down by new and improved BOWs being taken out for a test drive by the connections or BSAA or something. You can also naturally take control of the BOWs. These ones would be even more militaristic and deadly, like the monsters from Evolve. I know that any company who do take on such a task would likely avoid any real world groups or countries to avoid landing in hot water but I think the premise is strong regardless. You could have different scenarios and goals to complete along the way depending on the group you choose. I had this idea more fleshed out in my head but I forgot most of it honestly. I just kinda wanna play as a crazy Chechen after reading about some of the stuff they and other terrorist groups got up to. Anyone know what I mean? Maybe what I’m envisioning would better fit something like Metal Gear Solid.
