Out of all the fronts, the squid front has probably had the most lost planets and minimal progress. Pretty soon the GM won't have any more squid planets to farm izzat on because the players can't be fucked to interact with this boring faction outside of MOs

Spawn caps should be upped on d10 and spawn changes should be made to the enemies as well. Bring back lower tier/enemy variants like the scout strider and regular bug commander. However, when these units are chosen to spawn over a rocket strider or alpha commander, they instead spawn in greater numbers. 5 scout striders replace a rocket strider, 5 commanders in place of the one alpha commander.

I always found it strange that they didn't just mix in some of the bot subfaction units in to the normal spawn pool but something is telling me they literally can't change it due to spaghetti code. All they can really do is have some units replace others, but you'll never have a fire shield dev spawn alongside a normal shield dev or a factory strider alongside a vox engine. A shame really cause I feel like integrating the sub units into normal spawn pool would ramp up the difficulty a little on bots since you'll never know what will drop next

Never had the "solofags ruin everything" in other coop heavy games. For example DRG, or Vermintide 2.
If you need to fix this then introduce incentives for teaming up (Fallout 76 has different bonuses for different teams based on their stated objective, for example). Also make it less likely to be kicked for shit reasons. Like you can kick people a few times per hour but after that only if specified player has been flagged as team killer (just a thought from the top of my mind).
But it doesn't matter. Arrowhead won't do anything.

Starship Troopers has a better mechanic, it chooses a player to target with a homing patrol. If they aren't around allies they're shit out of luck. Players out alone are more likely to be picked as targets. Although I guess the Swedes *did* try implementing homing patrols but the AI, even when working, is teasily outsmarted. Their other attempts at spawning enemies when players aren't together just led to teleporting patrols in-between grouped players.

That's just what happens as you clear the map. The first cleared out camp increases spawns by 15%, clearing them all increases it to 25%. Completing the primary is another 30%, and being close to extraction increases it like sevenfold or something like that.
Staying on top of snitch killing is very rewarding either way, to the point that I don't play squids without the warrant.

Talon is very obviously pretty good at sniping stuff, but you really do feel the difference between it and the warrant when a snitchbot demands your attention in a high pressure moment, where the latter has perfect aim regardless of whether you're upright, running away from something, and wildly aim snapping around. Even with stray misses, that's four dead Overseers per drum mag. In regards to killing this specific enemy, the LibPen is one of the most efficient non-explosive/non-energy weapons.

I've always found the idea of a helldivers "oc" very sad and juvenile. I don't think there is a solution that could work without reworking how the enemies, missions, and the helldivers themselves work.

There are no enemies in the game that punish stragglers or people rushing ahead of the team like the hunter, smoker, charger, or jockey in the case of l4d2 or the cave leech in drg. The closest you get is when someone gets chain stunned by the standard overseer's melee or jumped by one or more stalkers, and even then most of the time that results in a death in mere seconds.

Players don't get downed and thus don't need a teammate to help them be recovered like they do in l4d2 or drg. Instead players die and can be reinforced anywhere at anytime by anyone as long as there's reinforcements and no ion storm or stratagem jammer interfering.

Teams aren't forced to stick together by being stuck on the same screen like they seem to in the first game (haven't played it).

Objectives rarely require more than one person to resonably pull off.

Coop elements are mostly very niche. Stimming a diver if they are out of stims can come in clutch but because of the two tap nature of most enemies, your teammate is going to be dead long before you're able to stim them unless you're practically right next to them when they need help. Team reloads are a COMPLETE meme, requiring you to carry their backpack and the team reload will break if there's so much as a pebble's worth of a height difference between the two helldivers. Resupplying a teammate is nice but ammo, grenades, and (sometimes) stim packs are plentiful on any sort of settlement or metropolis map, and the resupply pod can be called in every three or so minutes, which it is genuinely hard to burn through all of your ammo and stims in that amount of time, even on the most spam heavy of d-10 missions. BUDDY DOORS REQUIRE MORE COOPERATION THAN OBJECTIVES and even those can be cheesed with warp packs.

The closest I've seen to arrowhead discouraging solodivers was when the predator strain got first introduced because they spawned so frequently that you needed a battle buddy if you didn't want to be spitroasted via tongues. Off topic but I swear we haven't had an MO involving the predator strain since they were first added. Rupture strain for days...

Some of the only times I've seen the whole team stick together is when mission control says the line about the reinforcement budget running low, the team is mostly newer players, or it's a bunch of level 150s with nothing to prove by running off soloing a mega fortress/nest and are sticking together because they merely want to. Mission objectives like raising the flag are some of the only times I'll see the whole team of randos converge because you usually need four people and their stratagems to deal with the amount of enemies charging you. I despite hive worlds outside of super credit farming, but they also encouraged sticking together when underground if only because you can't toss down a panic machine gun sentry or eagle-1 strafing run.

So increase the ergo. It's possible to have an ergo of roughly 52 with iron sights and an angled foregrip combined with the drum mag. The difference between 50 and 100 ergo is so negligible it's not even worth discussing, the only difference between the two is that at 50 ergo, the circle trails just a smidge behind the crosshair. It's only when you start going into the <40 territory that crap gets bad.

This may be a hot take but I don't actually like disablers in co-op games. Whilst I get them i. Left 4 Dead I don't like them in games like Darktide and others. Since almost no game has made disablers as fair or easily readable as Left 4 Dead. Helldivers 2 does have some enemies akin to this, but they're always managable because the game is ultimately designed around being POSSIBLE solo. Personally I just think we need more tools to make it worthwhile. I don't know a ton about the 40k lore, but I know there is a lot more full blown evil stuff in the space marine universe than the space marines themselves. The 40k human propaganda doesn't seem nearly as overtly ironic like the Helldivers propaganda. The Democracy Officer tells you that you are there to liberate resources, the 40k stuff calls it cleansing or purging as if it were righteous.

A lot of the space marine lore wank comes from the structure of military + religion that appeals to men/boys who have zero experience with either. I've never gotten it either. I've only ever gotten somewhat attached to my helldivers a handful of times and it's when they survived a few missions and it was significantly less attachment than I have for a pawn in rimworld or a character in crusader kings.

The first time I got attached to my diver was when I managed to play three d-10 bot operations without dying once. The fate of that diver you may ask? He was knocked to the ground by a direct hit from a devastator rocket, and while on the ground, got shot by a MG raider. He died clearing out some random medium bot outpost on a back water planet with no settlements or cities cities that wasn't even part of a major order. He was immediately replaced by another guy with the same set of armor and gear.

For every guy who did died after doing that, there were dozens upon dozens that stepped on landmines, got stuck in terrain and had to be mercy killed, got friendly fired, got stuck in terrain and had to be mercy killed, blown up, drowned in a two foot puddle, arc dogged, got stuck in terrain and had to be mercy killed, and so on. The number of my divers that have been immediately annihilated by a cannon turret within seconds of deploying out of a hellpod on a bot mission is well within the double digits.

The same sort of focus on original characters happens in space station 13 and I think it is why the headcannon of helldivers being clones became a decent bit widespread at one point despite all signs being that the helldivers are just super patriotic super earth citizens that volunteered to be a combination of commandos and Chinese warlord era Dare-To-Die Corps. They don't want to think about their super special oc getting turned into a red mist via a landmine. As long as people aren't too cringe about their ocs I don't really care since it (USUALLY) doesn't have any in game impact.

I like them in l4d but I don't think they'd work in helldivers. I had to cut that clarification in the op because I was yapping too much and hit the character limit. It works in l4d because l4d has linear maps and you're never more than ten to twenty seconds away from whoever got pounced unless they REALLY wandered off. In which case they probably deserved to have their entrails yanked out of them by that hunter. In drg, the maps are far larger than l4d's and they aren't typically linear but they are still far less open than helldivers 2 maps which are almost always a giant multi kilometer circle in a vast field. I would be pissed if I had to spend three minutes running over to revive my teammate if it used a l4d/drg style knockdown system and most players would probably just let you die and then reinforce if you weren't immediately right next to them if helldivers added any sort of disabler enemy.

If you want to stealth dive, Redacted Regiment is a sleeper bond. It's not flashy or exciting, but the armor sets, the Censor and the C4 are all great. The Censor I'd argue is a bot-exclusive gun, but it dominates there.

No, all the Sterilizer needs is lingering gas clouds. Acid debuff can be its own entire debuff with an entire line of grenades, stratagems and support weapons.

It also doesn't detract from the fact that Advanced Filtration is still one of the most worthless armor perks in the game. Gas does ridiculously little damage to the point where any of the auxiliary armor sets with gas resist do the job well enough. And only players are able to inflict gas status, so as long as you're careful about where you place your gas, the armor perk may never even come into play.

The Sterilizer's whole problem is that it can't inflict gas at anywhere near the same range that Gas Dog and Gas Grenade can. Lingering clouds would literally be the best solution because you can create a gas wall that stops enemies more effectively than any flamethrower, and not have to constantly be within melee range to do so.

It would also free up the grenade slot for something more useful, which is the entire point of several primary, secondary and support weapons.

yes exactly my point. acid won't be this all encompassing must-take thing if the ways to apply it are appropriately limited. Imagine if an acid version of the re-educator is the only way to do it; it only applies to a single target, the ammo is limited, it competes for a useful utility slot, and hell it might not even be strong enough to instantly apply to heavier targets with a single shot making its limited ammo even more limited. It will be a nice supplement to certain builds but it won't replace anything, especially considering right now there already exists plenty of builds that don't need acid to kill lots of shit real fast.

the detonator takes the place of your stratagem weapon, while the c4 takes the backpack. solo silo also takes your weapon slot. c4 is actually good enough even with this jank handicap to still be good, but it defeats the purpose of the solo silo which is to set it down somewhere and then call it in when you need it. But since it takes up the most important weapon slot in the game it's best to just call it in and use it right away.

Stat-wise it's definitely going to be weaker than the HMG Emplacement, but maybe on a similar cooldown. It also can't step too much on the MG-43's toes, so either it's going to have a murderous cooldown or have weaker DPS. I'm imagining something like:

Presumably, an expendable MG wouldn't have all the bulky moving parts needed to make it a viable long-term weapon, it just needs to hold it together long enough for you to empty its magazine. Giving the player turtle protection like the Ballistic Shield doesn't sound like a very good solution, especially since it does nothing to improve its niche of being able to protect teammates. What it actually needs is the ability to reasonably resist explosive ordnance, and maybe a bit of side-directional protection. So, maybe increase its curvature a bit so that it's less of a flat wall, and allow it to eat a few rocket projectiles before it ragdolls the wielder. Honestly, as much as the warbond has improved over time, I will still never forgive it for the One True Flag. A 15% increased chance for samples only really starts making a difference when you play at D10 and map sample count is something like 40/40/7. At lower difficulties, the occasional chance to get double samples doesn't mean much when there's a grand total of 20 Common and 5 Rare samples per mission.

As it currently stands, its only actual use is for sample MOs.
