Investigations are always worth doing over quests as long as it's for a monster you want.I think the only advice I have is not to burn out too much on grinding for specific monsters. In most cases you only need a single piece of gear to clear out the monster's gimmick. Like mud resistance for Barroth, or water movement when you'll be fighting in knee deep water etc. Poison resistance for Pukei etc which just means a single piece of gear in 90% of cases.Repeating investigations and grinding builds up your monster knowledge and game mechs more than anything.
