Like any game, Omori has ambience tracks that play in different areas. Faraway Cemetery has one that sounds like this:https://vocaroo.com/1lxPSu1Z2G2HBut Omori has two ambience tracks for the cemetery in the files. 'cemetery' and 'cemetery_2'. The second one is unused, and sounds like this:https://vocaroo.com/1oAIHxzHlv7DIt's the same ambience track but with the reoccurring beginning part of Duet. My personal theory is that this added Duet ambience was going to play originally instead of By Your Side during the picnic with Mari scene. I believe this was changed because By Your Side is more recognizably Mari's theme. The true significance of the beginning part of Duet is something the player won't fully realize until hearing Duet themselves, since a player's main frame of reference for it is most likely still as the title screen music. By Your Side doesn't have this problem since it always played for Dream Mari in Headspace. It's a very Mari song, so playing it here gives it a more direct impact. Especially since this song also plays when putting Mari's photos back in the album, so the memory is that much stronger.

I have really similar opinions on omori and isat, which is not that surprising considering how much they have in common ie mechanics, aesthetics, themes, toby fox wannabism and of course flaws. genuinely interesting concepts and fun mechanics fall flat because authors didn’t bother to learn to write. most basic editing could have saved hours of coding (verrry drawn out stories. cutting like 1/3 of each already would have made a big positive impact). all that time should have been spent on making supporting cast have more than 1,5 trait each. incredibly frustrating to play power of friendship games when the group has no chemistry and you basically don’t care about these people like 20 hours in. I like aspirations of both but besides relying on personal experience authors don’t have anything new and compelling to say about their topics of choice. also i just have to say it. isat dialogue is so, so bad. being stuck in a time loop has nothing on being stuck reading isat prose. that really turns you into joker. tldr I wish these games were good and they had a chance to be if only the authors had read a few screenwriting for dummies books. or if they had a competent editor. alas.
