In a similar vein, defeats feel like legitimate setbacks that have to be actively reversed and pose as potential threats that characters must prevent with their lives, lest an even bigger hole is created if they are neglected.Rewatching re:zero several years later recently made me realize that legitimately good writing does exist, that characters do not have to be stale and formulaic until [designated event], and that large casts can be handled with competence. I do realize that a lot of the problems i have with limbus' writing are inherent with how kjh seems to want the story to go, but i don't think that's entirely an excuse for how some things are handled.
