VTOL VR, but desu I only really strongly recommend it for people who already have an idea of what air combat looks like and have an appreciation for it from series like ace combat, war thunder, DCS, nuclear option etc. it's otherwise easy to bounce off if you have no idea what's going on from the inadequate in game tutorials and don't know and care about the difference between an IR and radar SAM launcher.

If you want a VR air combat game though, nothing else comes close.

As an actually missing game, Zero Caliber 1 and 2 are fun asset flips that have big pseudo COD campaigns with a lot of content fighting NPCs, plus coop. I quite enjoy them.

Star Shelter was one of the first games that made me fall in love with VR back in the day, but I don't know a single other person who's played it.
It's a crafting/survival game, think Subnautica but in space. You pull yourself around in zero-g while building your own fully modular custom space station with resources collected from everything from mining asteroids to salvaging parts from old derelict space hulks.
You need to grow plants both for food and for oxygen, repair walls when a random meteor hits it, and overall it's a great immersive experience.
It theoretically has co-op support now, but since nobody else in /vrg/ owns it, I've never tried it.

LLMs were brand new tech at the time, so SEA hosted a D&D event where the crowd got to vote on what the next prompt would be in an LLM text adventure.

NA (for once) had the better event where anons could choose a class then go through a series of PvE monster fights and reach a boss at the end. More JRPG than full TTRPG, but it was the only way to include everyone who wanted to try the encounters.

Custom stage could be a thing but in this case don't really see the point in making one for this event since other maps are more high quality and interesting.
Like yes could make a stage, add some chairs and make it looking comfy but don't really imagine we'd get to spend that much time in it unless people come with a lot of material they'd like to show off.
I do like the idea of making a default club map if enough people are interested. Atleast seems like a cute idea to have a customizable stage and adding improvements every so often.

Comes out in 2 days. Hoped for Compound 2 VR but it just needs a metric loads of refining to play better. It was confirmed he was in fact in talks with Compound's dev and Proton's dev only just now found out about the steam discussion forums so hopefully with the feedback he gets it'll become a better improvement.

The event we ran was essentially an event with 5 stations where we had 5 DMs who all ran a segment of the story and we ran the groups through one at a time, with 4-5 people in a group.

Which worked, but was also very complex to run and also required a custom map with custom triggers. I don't think I'd want to do something like that again and would do something more simple.

Staff has orbs with contact receivers, 9 of them. Animator has a long chain of "correct choices" which activate when you poke contact receivers + timeout into failure if you don't poke correct receiver in a sequence. If you succeed, a parameter driver selects an active spell.

Not For Broadcast VR - WAY BETTER IMMERSION than flat. Very cool idea, very nice, very fun, good amount of content. Papers Please, but you're a live TV editor/censorer. You can lead not Britain into different scenarios.

No more rainbows, Stilt, Toss, - gorrilla tag feel alikes, but singleplayer campaigns. Very enjoyable, mind your furniture!

The 7th Guest VR - neat archaic puzzle game, cool visuals.

Ghost Town - very enjoyable "point and click adventure" about exorcism and paranormal, good graphics

VTOL VR - semiarcade/semisimulator flight sim with built in singleplayer campaigns, tonnes of user created missions and multiplayer. Joysticks not supported, all controlls using VR controllers, and it's implemented PERFECTLY. Play it, have fun

ARK and ADE -- sequel to "Of Lies and rain", arcade shootem up, fast, fun, play on Expert difficulty.

It's about getting in character too. Gremlin event had hoards of gremlins attacking the biggers, fitness event will also be a tour of sports worlds, wizard event encourages casting spells at each other and the muggles etc.
some people will always just make an outfit and act the same as usual, drink in spawn etc. but most anons at least somewhat act in character and that's what really makes the events fun

It's kind of gmod, but physics suck and building more convoluted contraptions usually results in hilarious failures. Still, plenty of fun. 90% of the gameplay is just building things, shooting, and stabbing each other a whole lot, but then there's also team deathmatch and other more purposeful activities.

I already changed tapping lohic so cards can only be tapped when in play, aka laying down on the playmat. Can make it so laserpointer only displays cards thst are "in play" but sometimes people dont drop them but place them down, not triggering a tap state. But that can be forced I think.

Depends on your definition of "not like ass" and how much effort you're willing to put in. You can make them sound better, and you can probably get it to a level where you're happy with it. There are some people who dislike them categorically no matter how they sound.

I use a 2025 fork of RVC, and I've had the best results with training it myself off a clean single-speaker dataset and then running the result through a VST to clean up a lot of the unnatural artifacts. I also run it on a separate PC (my previous VR rig) to keep the latency low.
If you're interested in learning about setting one up, I'm not too hard to find.

Anyone here interested in a fbt solution that uses a few cheap usb webcams positioned around the room and an articulated body pose estimation algorithm running on your PC that would replace full body tracking and base stations? The end goal would be to make fbt essentially cost like $30 with three cheap webcams pointed at the center of the room. I thinking I could solve this by mid July

Ironically, MocapForAll actually uses the exact same backend we're planning to use, except they're charging $120 for it. There's also an abandoned open source mit liscence github that does exactly what we're trying to do with the same backend but only uses 1 camera.

we're looking at using google's MediaPipe backend. It's computationally very cheap (engineered to run on mobile phones), and I think it runs on cpu by default and can be configured to run on GPU.

The old Rift CV1 sensors choked motherboards because they sent heavy, uncompressed IR video. MediaPipe aggressively downsamples the image internally before processing anyway, so we can configure the software to just pull 480p at 30fps from the webcams because there's no reason to get HD video. Three 480p streams shouldn't choke a standard USB 3.0 host controller.
absolute *worst* case scenario you'll either need a pcie-to-usb expansion for 5+ webcams or you'll need to run it on a laptop or something on the side, separate from your PC like with an optiplex or spare laptop or something on your desk like pic related. I hope it doesn't come to that.

Whatever your solution is should use IMUs. If you don't you are wasting your time. I recommend using IMUs with IR LEDs attached and then using multiple cameras to track the LEDs in 3d space for a 'rough location' and then use the IMUs for fine movement.
