I bet Evan's trying to have some kind of cathartic moment with Belle. Everything in the last arc feels like she was deliberately trying to make Belle's more actiony with set pieces where she outdoes Sage physically, has to save her, set pieces making her look like a cool hackermans all in some desperate attempt to prove that the only reason people didn't like Belle was because she didn't do action and in the end, I don't think her popularity is going to rise that much more.Okay she has a link with Sage now, what else does she do? Unless this character has a meaningful purpose outside of crying over family drama, she's not going to get off the ground. Belle hype moments and aura isn't enough Evan. Send her to Scrapnik to help other scraped Eggman bots so this character can have a proper purpose and themes. Can this character have the bare minimum at least?

But what she's doing now with Belle is honest to god regressing her. There is no follow-up to issue 50. Belle's back to calling Eggman dad and chasing a family that wasn't meant to be undoing any character progress all in an attempt to make her more liked by stapling her to Sage. Evan was this close to giving the character a purpose and themes that could've coincided with the resolution of Scrapnik's arc, made something out of her and Mecha Sonic and given them reasons to stay firmly against Eggman alongside Sonic's friends, but Evan just can't control herself
