Main Story. I mentioned earlier the main story was boring because you pretty much doing small unrelated episodes like a bounty and there are no real motivation to push the story forward. So after a few missions there is finally a mission to give a direction of where main story is heading. I won't spoil anything here, but I still find story to be meh most of the time despite many good cutscene and laughing dialogues. (It feels like Detective Conan if you know what I mean, like most episode you are doing random unrelated things but then comes an episode that is going to push your main story a bit)Combat. I have worse opinion of combat after more gameplay today. Main reason is that the combat is really repetitive and combat designs for each character is so simple and lacks depth at least in current stage. There are also very few characters you can use (6 A-rank characters in total) so you don't really have a big variance of teams to play with. Enemy actions are also very confusing as well.As game progresses you will unlock different city events like delivering parcels, fishing, running a cafe, which turns out to be a big part of the game. these event will give you in-game currencies which you can use to buy houses, cars, etc. You should try spend your currencies to buy real estate first because there are certain gameplays that is tied to your real estate (and each one will offer something different) so I think it's important to get these first. I generally find these events to be enjoyable, at least for now. But I'm not sure how long the freshness will last.

it's crazy how much crisis this game is causing some people. I've seen multiple people comment on how they can't handle all the gacha games coming out since they'll have to spend all day playing their list of games. I think we're reaching the threshold where gacha gamers will be forced to choose and the competition will become increasingly hard to resist with more and better features than the older outdated ones, breaking the sunk cost for many. because people won't be able to handle dailies for multiple open world (main game) gachas at once without serious burnout, and the burnout will always come from the game with a 50/50, chance to get hella unlucky and the less fun/less flashy or innovative gameplay loop and game they've already done dailies for so much that they're on the cusp of being tired of them.

to comment on the common occurrence of people saying the characters look bad, I think a lot of it probably is because some of the models are a bit underwhelming, but I also think it has to do with their existing connections to previous characters. for instance, many of the characters from nte that they're comparing their favorites to have been seen in cutscenes, promotional material, or just ingame enough that the player has grown an attachment to them and seen their full range of motion and personality. when they see nte static images they can only judge them on the most basic level which is their overall appearance, but they don't see them as real characters yet. to be fair, I think a lot of the models are really good in nte. it wouldn't hurt for them to hire some more character designers though. zzz made the right choice hiring a hentai artist. no one appreciates a character's form more than a pervert.

also want to mention nte seems to be tapping into an audience of gamers who don't normally play gacha because they don't enjoy the endless loop of fighting the endgame content in an arena style brawlfest. I've always wanted stuff to do outside of the endgame battle modes in my gacha so this is perfect for me. I never enjoyed a single open world action combat style gacha endgame out of all the ones I've played and the worlds just end up being completely ignorable. so they basically become the same as menu based gacha games like trickcal or blue archive. stuck in the menu doing the combat mode weekly or monthly. wuwa in particular felt completely vacant outside of the combat modes because it didn't even have a simple dorm/housing system.

>>564721385agreed... to be fair there is a spark system in arknights, but you really don't want to rely on that for a few reasons. it's basically max pity which is a worst case scenario, especially in a game where the chance of pulling a limited is increased from normal games but the pull cost is also increased. this means missing all the way to pity hurts a lot because not only did you have terrible luck, but you also spent a buttload of currency on your pulls. going to spark on every character is a major time sink in saving and people who can manage that skip multiple banners to do so and have a ton of patience. for me, if I don't get a new char to play with at least every month or two I am going crazy. some of those guys save for half a year or more before pulling. I also tend to hyperfocus on these games, so that doesn't help. if I could detach a bit and do other things it would make it feel less bad to wait.

Genshin hit at the perfect time and with the first come bonus, took the millions they made from their good timing and made more games using their own greedy systems. Wuwa hit it off a lot bigger than people expected and even Wuwa wasn't that unique or interesting at launch outside of the combat. I think we're going to see a lot of good things coming in the future, especially as people tire of these outdated systems, more competition arrives and hoyo's rep continues to fall. Eventually the bad rep will collide with a game that's just good enough for people to make the switch permanently.
