It is important because it makes your relic generate more red candy per recharge. Fablab unfortunately takes literally like 3 or 4 materials and to have a steady progress you need to pretty much dedicate your A-Club entirely to it.The base materials that fablab eats are metal shavings, gold shavings, recycled plastic and copper spoons. These materials need to be processed into proper items that fab lab calls for, making the process grindy and lengthy. Some characters have "special breaks" that award some materials on top of the -% stress that breaks usually give. I've managed to get done with 9th stage of research after like 4-5 months of play.
