First for mods for this feel?
>>564697646cobblemon
>>564697864Is Cobblemon structured like a mob mod, or is it just 1:1 Pokemon in Minecraft? I've never had any interest in it, but if it's just pokemon guys as minecraft mobs I might use it at some point.
>>564698194idk, I've never played it because I love tech mods.
>>564697646Ars Nouveau>I hate tech mods! All this automation shit is too complicated! Why do I have to do all this shit just to automate farming and to get a dimensional inventory system?!?!!>hee hee haw! I love automating crops with my starbuncle familiars! Bookwyrm... >>564701293Ars Nouveau>I hate Create! It makes it too easy to quarry! What's the point of the Quarry multiblock that Alex's Caves adds if you're running Create?>Yodeleheehiiihoooo!!!!!! I love Ars Nouveau! Break + AoE x4 makes it so much easier to dig!!!
sometimes I wonder what will become of people like simi who changed everything with create, but then I remember that most of the devs of old didn't really end up doing anything of note and I get a little sad
>>564711950wasnt the og aether dev hired by mojang or am i misremembering?kind of related, the map maker of a popular map in counter strike recently sold his map to valve.
Regions unexplored makes the floating islands stick together a bit too much, and it really does add a bunch of bloat with like 30 new wood types, but I like these rocky reef biomes.
>>564712338how do those modded clouds look with shidders?
>>564712323The aether dev was hired by mojang, so was the mo' creatures dev too I believe. It's all still kind of miniscule compared to what they've done for minecraft, I guess.Maybe it's a dumb thing to think about.
>>564712338>bloat with like 30 new wood typesMore building materials and decorative trees
>>564712406No clue, not well I assume. There's a compat mod called "Oculus for Simple Clouds", but it only adds support for a single shader, and even then it looks buggy and the shader has bad performance. YMMV I guess. My assumption is that shaders won't work well for Aero in the first place. My recommendation is to put your GPU power towards a larger DH render distance instead, being able to see distant islands should be really damn cool. Not that I've even started testing with DH yet.>>564712889Doubling what the base game has might be sensible. But doing more than twice that again, and adding three flavours of vibrant clownvomit wood? I'll see if I can find something a bit less extreme.
>>564713307>I'll see if I can find something a bit less extreme. You can disable biomes in RU config and leave only the ones you like, like most nether biomes it adds are kinda ass (the pink one for example)
Use No Man's Land or Wilder Wild instead of these troon biome mods.
>>564714246>Wilder WildIts fagbric only
>>564713856I think I'll end up doing that. The extra continentalness of the floating islands isn't necessarily a bad thing, the terrain is still pretty challenging, and there are still wide swaths of ocean to traverse.>>564714246Now that you mention it, I was testing out Nature's Spirit. I really really like its cypress tree, but its cool white cliffs biome doesn't spawn anywhere but at Y=0 where it's not visible. Also yeah it has tranny flags in its villages. Looks pretty possible to change that with a datapack though. No Man's Land is nice for having less bloat, but its trees are kinda boring. It's also giving me strange stone structures stretching from the islands to the sea, seems like it's just not compatible with my sky island datapack. Well, they are kinda cool.
>>564715620>Nature's SpiritI'm playing with it right now but can't see any tranny flags in that cool tree biome villages. I also remember it having troon flag cats spawning every now and then, but when i try to spawn them myself they appear to be normal mineyman cats (aside from one copycat)
>>564716254The tranny flags are in the rare Wisteria biome villages which also uses tranny colours for the trees. There's also a tranny cat. One day I'll make a mod to remove them.>obsessedDon't care, it's blatant tranny propaganda.
Other than that I really love Nature's Spirit though. The Mediterranean-style villages are peak comfy.
>>564717067holy fucking shit the cat is pink or something, now I want to cut off my dick
>>564716254I was there in the wisteria village just now, and there were definitely flags around the village centre (the structure with bells). But looking in the files there are two different village centre structure pieces, so maybe it's a 50/50 chance.Damn are those nice cypress trees. Regions Unexplored has massive trees in comparison, but it does seem to be the most compatible with Create. I just want to make an Isle of the Dead. I guess I'll shelve it for another modpack.>>564717067The trees now are purple, pink, blue, and white. So it's plausable considering that's what the trees look like IRL. But the cat and beds are definitely pink and blue, plus the flags. It's easy to disable the structure, but yeah otherwise it's nice looking and I'd like to keep it.>obsessedI too am opposed to anything that might induce gender confusion in a children's game. Make it 18+.Also weirdly it has a bunch of new ores that are meant to spawn in its new stone types, but in your pic there you can see vanilla coal ore surrounded by a new stone type. I saw the same thing. Probably an issue with the stone_replaceable tag I guess.
>>564717067I guess they've made cat skins biome specific, huh>One day I'll make a mod to remove them.Wasn't there a guy in this general doing exactly that?
>>564717416Hang yourself
>>564717790Yeah that was me, and it was a datapack for my modpack. I didn't remove the cat or change the Wisteria trees pallete though, only removed the flags from the village structures.
>>564699507>>564709874I say this and think this
Hello /mmcg/I really want to play on a server with Create Aeronautics, and somebody has to be the first to do it, I would be willing to host a server. As I have never hosted a modded server before, what's the general protocol of distributing the modpack for use? In addition what mods should be used in conjunction? I assume if I do not have the exact autistic perfect brew, there will be several people cursing my existence on this thread?
>>564717416I simply do not want to reminded these people exist. Is that so wrong?
>>564718487>I simply do not want to reminded these people existyou're the one enabling them by consooming the content they create
>moving the goalpost + attempt at shifting the blame
Wtf I downloaded the tranny mod made by trannies and it has tranny shit in it, why are trannies forcing their propaganda on me?
>modpage looks normal>download mod>mental illness was hidden to not scare off normal people>seethe uncontrollably when people try to remove it
How would you like it if I made a nice biome mod and hid a concentration camp village with Nazi flags in it?
>>564715620>No Man's Land is nice for having less bloat, but its trees are kinda boring. It's also giving me strange stone structures stretching from the islands to the sea, seems like it's just not compatible with my sky island datapackwhat sky island datapack do you use?to me those stone pillars look epic. i dont mind them at all. just judging from this screenshot, idk how it is in-game.and btw the creator of no mans land is listed as a co-creator of aeronautics.
>>564717067>One day I'll make a mod to remove them.the proper way is to not touch these mods at all
>>564718194real gerg? theres an anon already working on a pack, hes been posting his progress in here since the mod released.thats what im waiting for currently.

>download content mod>does exactly as described>there's an image of a rectangle with blue, pink, and white lines>seethe uncontrollably online about it
>>564718194>As I have never hosted a modded server before, what's the general protocol of distributing the modpack for use?I hosted non-4chan serbs for frens. And I either make my own modpack or edit a premade one. If edited a premade one I ship separately the extra files and configurations to be copy pasted on top of the premade instance, for maximum low IQ proof installation.
>>564720996why don't you do it instead of making a hypothetical about itdon't you care about your ideals
>>564721595OMG who are you! ancient ass screenshot right there!I saw some guy was working on one but idk seemed like hes being a tilly tallying autist about it
>>564709874Create by itself is fun, create in slop packs sucks
>>564721087Sky Lands over the Sea. No Man’s Land seems to make the islands stick together much more than I’d like, but I’m not sure RU is any better. That continentslness isn’t a complete dealbreaker, but it’s definitely not ideal, maybe I can use a datapack to edit biome noise functions or something along those lines. I think I prefer the look of RU’s biomes, but I’m not certain on it all.Spires like that could be even cooler, if they were properly tapered and made of interesting materials and generated in a fractured way.>>564723828Guilty as charged. I’m building this modpack first and foremost for me, because I’ve always wanted this sort of pack. It being a server modpack is just a bonus.Additionally, I think it’s worth waiting because Big Cannons’ aero compat and the anon’s portal mod will take a little time to be released, potentially other aero-compatible mods/addons too.
>>564718194>what's the general protocol of distributing the modpack for use?what mods are you planning to put into your modpack? me for example i only use create and aeronautics for my singleplayer world, nothing else.
>>564718194If your pack is static you can export it from a few different launchers in a way people can just import it. If it's something you're going to be changing often, packwiz
>>564723828If islandserb anon had moved quicker we'd be stuck on a VS2 serb which might as well have been deleted when aero came out. His slowness saved us all a lot of wasted time and effort. The ecosystem is also very much in flux right now, lots of porting to 1.21 and lots of bug fixing and discovering. Bit of patience is worthwhile.Having said that can we ask that the serb be opened by 1st of May? Giving you a bit of time for additional tweaking and to pregen the world which does take a bit of time as we have seen on pathserb.Doesn't have to be the final modpack, can always regenerate some chunks if we add mods that need ores or whatever later.
>>564697646My own tech mod which will never be properly implemented and released and currently exists only in my mind and as a bunch of disjointed chunks of code on my gitThe gist of it is that it's essentially a magic mod disguised as sci-fi tech mod. Remnants of a Precursor civilization's tech are scattered in the world, you have to travel and find their dilapidated machines and mechanisms, break them apart, salvage whatever you can and try to reverse-engineer it. I envisioned two tiers: first tier is your crude attempts at imitating Precursor tech, substituting their post-scarcity era materials and manufacturing processes with steel, duct tape and determination; second tier is you having both original blueprints (reverse-engineered or looted) and sufficiently-close-to-original materials and assembling things that are basically temu Precursor tech, almost as good as the real thing. There's also a bonus third tier which is made up of actual Precursor stuff made by themselves that miraculously survived to this day, but these are uncraftable and can only be found as rare loot. There are no processing lines, there's no electricity or its equivalent to generate and store, and in general you never need to have something running in the background at all times, things only happen when you manually request them to happen. Every single machine is a futuristic multiblock that directly affects the world around it in some way (with emphasis on militaristic usage), and there are no machines that serve no purpose other than just crafting intermediate parts for other machines. It's almost an anti techmod in that regard, deliberately avoiding classic techmod gameplay loops.I'll totally re-start working on it properly and get it done and released, very soon, any day now
>>564712478Bro they got into the cushiest job in the industry where you put in 30 minutes' worth of work per day for those massive "we added an entire new mob in five months" updates and get paid out of microslop's bottomless pockets AND get sneedish work benefits to boot, how's that miniscule

on considering the whole going out to get oil from islands gameplay loop one thing i want to include is easy transportation for some of the oil given that processing it into gasoline is its own fucking processsomething like a fluid tank from mekanism but without needing to include the entire mod for it, at the least you can make basic tanks without needing to jerk off osmium into silicon chips or whatever but then if mekanism is in the mod i feel it would distract from the rest of the content + i'd want a way to convert create SU to power and vice versa and that would screw with the balance of the packneed to check for a "just fluid containers" mod mmmmm
>>564751249Why not just create fluid tanks? Why are you solving a problem that isn't real?
>>564718194a simple light-weight (even just create aeronautics is enough for me) modpack with large biomes or amplified terrain SMP would go hard
>>564752082you can't easily transport those fluid tanks around, between having to worry about the logistics of having to manuver islands lest you fall off i want to be able to transport a reasonable amount of oil for emergency gasoline purposes
>>564752572if you're looking to process oil, you have presumably teched up enough to just be using an airship to transport the oilunless you want to make gasoline the only way to do air travel, then you're insane

Are there literally any mods for 1.12 that add orangutans into the game? The google AI is hallucinating and saying they're in ZAWA, but I looked through the file and the wiki and there's no mention of them.
>>564766627what's with your great ape special interest bud you got any grand plans or ideas for a mod pack?
>>564764943what robit doalso I hate quests that give you random rewards, often hard-to-craft things that complete other quests, without even knowing wtf its forwhen crafting something for the first time and thus completing the quest, just give me a partial refund on the materials that went into it for fuck sake, dont give me a random advanced solar panel from mekanism when punching down my first tree
>>564768670I'm not the guy who usually posts about apes.I just really really really really really like specifically orangutans. They're extremely smart and chill, and when they get mad at someone, they start making kissy sounds with their mouths.I want to build a jungle village for orangutans to live in. why do performance mods exist? like why haven't the big impact ones been integrated into the vanilla game?
>>564769642a) doesn't work on all systemsb) these get updated regularly or conflict with other systemsc) they're working on it with their own codebase, this has been why updates have been weird for 4 yearsd) proper compensation for completed work is awkward to settle now that they're owned by one of the largest organizations in historye) some things like entity culling have unexpected results which are not aligning with design
>>564769642everyone runs them already, it would cost the jews at M$ a few spare pennies to implement something someone else is already doing for free
>>5647297211st of May might be pushing it, I’ve got work too you know, but I’ll aim for that. Terrain and ore generation needs to be done fully, if Big Cannons isn’t patched by then I’ll leave it out to be added later.>>564740640By default that datapack generates small-ish beach biome non-floating islands, but not nearly as common as the floating islands. Even rarer are flat patches of other biomes, like dark oak forest. I plan to make some ores generate down there.
>>564769642Why are you poor? You don't need performance mods in modern Minecraft unless you're running it on decade-old hardware.
>>564769642as a studio grows larger, or is folded into a larger studio like microsoft, the management bloat beginsno longer can random dev go to notch and say "hey I've got an idea" or "hey I've noticed we have some bad optimization, mind if I stop working on donkeys and spend time on that?"no that would be too simplenow there is a manager above the dev working on donkeys, and he would *never* be allowed to shift focuses like that, even if his manager passed it along, it would get ran through the rape machine of bureaucracy and come out completely different (if it ever made it up the chain at all)Every game studio that grows behind a small team of developers will experience this, and immediately become worse because of it.The managerial class exists for itself and to perpetuate itself. Know that in your heart when you see the squak about how we all need to come back to the offices or when they schedule a meeting that could have been an email. They are justifying their own existence at the expense of the consumer and the developer.

It's not exactly an early game mod so no rush on that one.I had one other thought, the hot air balloon blocks require lots of wool. Since we're unlikely to have spider spawners another source of string would be nice, flax from farmer's delight maybe?
>>564779736okay sure but what about setting up your ship every balloon i've designed is like 15 or more blocks tall, should i just leave it to scaffolding?i could do a block that has a slow fall effect and there's a mod that lets you shift to keep from falling
I want to play with Create Aeronautics. Its main features are advanced modes of transportation. But vanilla Minecraft doesn't have anywhere interesting to go. What mods could I use to add exploration value to Minecraft? Also, how is it compatibility wise, on a scale from 0 (Cubic Chunks) to 10 (a mod that adds 1 block that does nothing)?>>564707015I love Immersive Portals. Shame it doesn't interact with Create. Hold it in place with ropes or a magnet or whatever. As for flight, I’ve disabled rocket boosting (there’s always punch bows) and added create jetpacks, but nerfed them to only last a couple of minutes and be pretty slow at gaining altitude.Grappling hooks are in, but they can’t grab onto airships, unlike the VS2 hooks.>>564780053You can adjust their transparency I believe, I should give this a shot. >>564804161Because they're too small, not much could be done in pre 1.18 about the world height but in newer versions they could easily have a few more size tiers between the ones already there (going past 150 would probably not look great either) while making the current tall ones thickeralso they are the natural habitat of airships, what's even the point of having them if you can't manouver them around giant natural formations
>>564804752Yeah, that's what I'm saying, they're way too small. You'd want them to be xboxhueg so you could make them more detailed
>>564805272not any bigger than the already big ones, just slightly wider, and biome mods shouldn't be scared of adding blocks for detail, which was one of the things BYG was great at doing, sadly BWG FUCKING UNDID ALL THAT BY ADDING TRANILLA BLOCKVOMiT EVERYWHERE, THE STONE FOREST WASN'T THE ONLY ONE THEY RUINED THE DACITE BIOME WAS ENSHITTIFIED TOO

>>564776759>Elytra/JetpacksCardboard Stuff adds a cardboard elytra. Easy to craft (2 cardboard sheets + 1 stick) but single-use (includes anticheese in case you hotswap it before landing). I feel like a jetpack would kind of invalidate most of the mod, but elytra with asterisks could probably work.>Physics StaffI will say that isn't necessary since people will adapt to whatever situations they're put in. The rest of this is just conceptual stuff.Whenever I want to give players access to a Creative item in my personal modpacks, what I'll do is install Architect's Palette or Randomium and use either Randomium or Unobtainium in recipes to make them. Randomium is a random drop from Randomium Ore while you get Unobtainium by throwing a Netherite Ingot through a Nether Portal. They can either be easier or harder to get than the other, depending on who you're asking and what mods are in play. All that is to say that if you want to give players access to a creative item, don't make it easy access. The Physics Staff would be alright around lategame vanilla (around the time where you're gearing up to go to The End) because of the nature of what the item does for its own mod, while other creative items like say, Creative batteries and the like, would be something you want to have suuuuuuuuper super post-game.

You can get around it by crafting a list filter and putting in an incomplete engine part, or alternatively an attribute filter blacklisting all of Deco's items.

I'm invited to my close friend's other group to play multiplayer, but they are absolutely clueless and it's honestly fucking exhausting that I can't just explain without sounding like a total sperg that they are doing completely wrong. The server guy is doing PaperMC/Fabric hybrid servers and it’s a technical disaster. literal everywhere mods like supplementaries won't run, crash everytime anyone do something, PLEASE just run forge or fabric. Also they want cool bosses and exploration but the pack only included dungeonslop like When dungeon arises, literally play actually well designed custommap or better yet go play something built for it like other survivalslop games. I don't know they saw a slop youtube VS2 eureka clip or what but PLEEEAAAASE JUST RUN AERONAUTICS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. VS2 is unplayable in survival without using commands to fix jank every minutes, but they insist on it because aeronautics looks """""""""INTIMIDATING""""""""I genuinely don't understand how normalnigger have fun in such abysmal conditions. why are they enjoying broken, janky shit that barely functions I genuinely don't understand
>>564824914We have become the antagonists of Bloons TD.
>>564825201The shape with the concave prow you had before was more interesting, but hard to pull off. This one is starting to look fine. For visual interest I'd drop the deck and midline by one block in the middle so that you get a very slight U profile. Other than that you're good, just keep adding curved lines to the side of the hull until it's done. Also use wood/log blocks on some of the lines, both vertical and horizontal.
>>564828537>but they insist on (VS) because aeronautics looks intimidatingIt sounds like your friends are either being stunlocked by all the flashy shit that content creators are showing off or just have brain problems. If they've never used Create then I'm going to assume it's the former. Just show them how building a simple hot air balloon works, then stick a propeller on the ass of the balloon so that it becomes a blimp. They'll figure the rest out.If nothing else, you can show off performance benchmarks between the two mods. VS is not only janky but also really laggy compared to Aeronautics.
>>564828537they don't know any betterhost an actually good server from your computer for a day and show it to them, then when they're impressed about it actually working you can tell the guy running the server how to do it, youbcan sperg all you want if theyre the ones who asked
>>564829652Yeah that might be the reason but aeronautics isn't translated yet, and they can't read basic English. I know I’m ESL but basic English shouldnt be impossible barrier.I’m trying so hard to keep my mouth, because I don't want to be the "ackshually" guy ruining their fun. If they’re fine with the server crashing just because someone used a fishing rod on a ship, or the ship outright disappearing. then they clearly don't care about jank, performance or stability at all.Whatever, I’m done. the server is already started and surely they won't start over because some guy from outside the group sperged out.

>>564834428>ISP switched from PPPoE to IPoEno clue why this would prevent you from doing anything unless they also squeezed the CGNAT turd on your headin which case rip nigga worse than a death sentence
>>564812853>I’m considering doing something similar to Skylands Over The SeaOk never mind. Minecraft datapacks are designed to overwrite minecraft data files, not to ammend them. The only references to minecraft biomes I could find was in one big overworld.json file, where all of the unique features of every biome has been copied and edited. That includes the ice spawning on the snowy mountain slopes, as an example. I've compared the overworld.json file between the game and the datapack and there's definitely some changes (using different noise functions, plus some conditionals), but I can't find any corresponding things to change in the files of the mod. Maybe a datapack biome mod would be better, oh well. I'll make some maps of the generations and see what the difference between vanilla, RU, and NML. If the generation is too wonky, I'll just find a mod that adds extra greebly bullshit to the existing biomes I guess.
>>564835060>CGNATYeah that was the case, I thought IPoE thing was giving me a problem because it was working before
>>564835238>Regions Unexplored doesn't play nice with the deeper sea mod, spawning redstone stalagmites all over the sea floorI can disable that biome, maybe I'll disable all the underground and nether biomes. It's also not giving me the nice rocky reefs sticking out of the water though, maybe it's worth ditching the deeper seas mod, not like we're doing submarines or anything.

>about to (re)start my yearly e2e runWish me luck, guys. Last time I managed to reach a sieving setup and the beginnings of AE2 autocrafting.
>>564842782>>564850228If they were based and unfucked their worldgen, they would make end islands that have a chance to generate as single biomes. Then you could have pale gardens in the overworld as a rare thing, and as a semi-common thing in the end. Maybe also make a pillager stronghold have a small chance to generate in the end gardens that focus more on magical pillager variants (illusionists, evokers, witches, maybe a fourth that uses ender pearls in some way).
>>564852830truuuu i do like the idea of having evokers and illusioners in an end location, this is once again something that can just be done with data packs tho and tbreal i'm not of mind to spend a week making a custom end castlelike i think everything comes back to "why am i coming here"soul sand and magma blocks have use, wither skeletons are how you get beacons, blazes have a billion uses, netherite is the strongest armorthe end has fruit that teleports you, shulkers (which most modpacks invalidate) and elytra
>>564853256you know what i thought about this a bit more and i remembered a concept i had for a minecraft clone where each further dimension lets you make a better storage network and thought "okay put AE2 meteors in the end" but desu i think screwing with that progression would suck because the next issue is accessibility to the end, like yeah sometimes you enter the nether and you're over a pit of lava but at least you're in the dimension, and then i realized that most storage mods already have this kind of dimensional progression where it's either fully gated or partially gated behind nether items, and that another issue no one looks at is just generally accessibility to the dimensionlike we all unlock it at some point but rarely go back in part because if your base is like 500 blocks a way it's a whole ass journey just to go back to the portal so (big idea for loot) :waystones, or something like waystoneswhile nether travel is reasonable a lot of servers end up using tp commands anyways because it's not convenient enough, so something like a limited number of waystone crafting parts or maybe a fuel that needs to be obtained from the end, something i don't know

>>564604006I ended up salvaging one in my singleplayer world. Luckily it spawned in a frozen ocean, mostly over-water, so cleaning up all the water from when I plucked it straight out of the ocean went relatively well. I put the balloon a little too high, but that's nothing that can't be fixed by disassembling it and pushing it down with a mechanical piston. Balancing the internals was pretty easy until I moved my Powah reactor into the hull of this ship, after which point I had to cheat and make some Levitite to lighten the load on the rear of the ship. Before that... well, I'm running Mekanism and got a metric shitton of Tin from my digital miner, so I just put a bunch of blocks of the good stuff on the front of the ship until it balanced out.Turning is crap and the speed is bad. Both of them are solvable problems, I just need to have some fins on the side that rotate while I'm turning and a second electric motor to handle propulsion (since the issue is that it's getting overstressed and stalling).

I tried to install the All The Mods 10 ATM 10 modpack for a server cuz its required and it said this omgAnd yes i checked and this is the latest version. The mods dont show up in mod list.
What do you guys think about civcraft (CivMC being the current iteration)?

>>564878049Realistically? Not really anything outside their addon ecosystem and some extremely specific things.Of course, the VS devs will tell you that aero>has only marginally better performance, not because of aero team competence, but because of neoforge>has many of the same bugs as VS>has simplified physics>has a casualized building system>has physics that are too realistic>has a building system that can only handle big vehicles properly>license autism >worse for larger serbs (for some reason)>can't be compared to VS because aero is 1.0 and VS is only half-finishedAgain, outside some very specific examples aero is going to be head and shoulders better, anyone who's used both and doesn't have some weird shill complex will tell you that. I will say that as far as running a moddedserb is concerned you're probably better off with VS for the next six months while everyone chases 1.21. Not that I want to shit on the main devs like triode who have been pretty cool about the aero release, but the rest of their community is in fall of the reich mode and wants to ostracize anyone who just says aero is a plain improvement. I guess VS could pull ahead somehow, but they've had like 4-5 years and the added benefit of public testing and feedback. I think they need to prepare to be marginalized.
I was sad when I had to switch from minechem to alchemistry because I thought the latter didn't have medicinal consumables like aspirin. Turns out it does, it's just not called aspirin.Unlike minechem, the aspirin in alchemistry is actually consumable, and it functions like an instant health potion rather than a potion of regeneration, which is really cool imo.

>>564908246Practically I guess this means forks are allowed for the purpose of merging, or for doing something completely different (maybe a fork that runs on 1.7.10 would count?), but not for being spun off as their own project. Which means we are at the whims of the devs. If they ideologically decide not to allow some functionality or not to fix a bug/incompatibility, up shit creek with only hacky workarounds.I was going to ask if the guy who ported Grappling Hook Mod to work with VS2 would work on an Aero port, but I looked him up and he’s a developer for a whole bunch of VS2 addons, probably not going to be so quick to jump on the Aero bandwagon.

Ayyoo nigga you didn't even tell us where you died.
Terrain diffusion is neat. I think I'll add my own water (since it has precip values) stuff maybe, and maybe do something neat with the caves since the world height is so huge. Managed to get it running at 30 chunks/s which is pretty nice, way quicker than I thought https://github.com/xandergos/terrain-diffusion-mc
I like how fast create becomes a clusterfuck
Gregtech research station is the most dogshit mechanic ever. Shit doesn't work 90% of the time.
Looks like shit unfortunately
Someone tell me WHICH OF THESE DAMN VARIABLES do I need to change to make ore veins spawn farther apart??? I can't figure this shit out, and neither can the llm I've been interrogating for the last 2 days. Do I have to make a custom noise function? It seems like the noise scaling doesn't do shit, be that for vein_toggle or for vein_ridged. Maybe this mod is just dogshit?
>>564895517>and it functions like an instant health potion rather than a potion of regeneration, which is really cool imo.Is it? Normal aspirin doesn't just instantly make you feel fine
>>564947710this mod fyihttps://github.com/TheBrewingMiner/DOV-Homepage/wiki/The-Ore-Vein-File>>564947815if anything it should be absorption, giving you a boost in vitality until it wears off
>>564943458Consider weighted ejectors to transport it from the brass funnels to the chutes. Throughput might suffer a tiny bit, but it still just works. You can also compact the gear set on the middle-right by covering the cogs with andesite casings (this doesn't consume the casings). Obviously it'll still be long, but it's a lot more uniform (and walkable in the event that you do it in compact spaces, IE if you're building underground). If they cog you apply them to are already connected to another cog, one side of its shaft will be covered while the other isn't, which lets you stack the cogs. They can also be wrenched to toggle whether or not that side is covered or not, if you need to do that.
>>564913537Realistically, fixing the main mod can almost always be done with patches rather than with an outright fork, if that's the only restriction. Now they might try to argue that anything touching their mod's functionality is not allowed if they don't like it, but if a patch doesn't directly reuse any of their code then legally I don't think they can do anything unless they implement DRM measures (which then become illegal to circumvent). Of course modrinth/curseforge mods can always suck up to the popular mod and take shit down anyway I suppose.
Anyone got any ideas for making downward flowing rivers not look like shit?
>>564947710Hmmm tasty. I love that no need to change it at all bro. This stuff doesn't go very far anyway if you want to do some copycat building at any scale. No need for another giga spartan pack like pathserb.
>>564948083But they're ugly as shit and spawning every 30 blocks on every damn island. The point is you travel to find one, not just get it from wherever you are.

>>564948061thats not really shit. maybe youre overreacting.is this with terrain diffusion? maybe make rivers wider?
Extremely expected result: Mekanism teleporters greatly disagree with Aeronautics contraptions. I wasn't expecting them to in the first place, but I had to see.
>>564948773idk it just looks like shit (pic not rel) up close for some of them. I like the idea, I just can't figure out a way of getting them to properly connect down-stream/hill.
>>564948146I don't mind having one on most islands. If they're super rare it's not worth going out trying to find one. When they're decently common it's worth building a ship to go out and mine, and you'll get enough stuff that it's worth storing it all on the ship instead of just taking one inventory and going back to a base. The vein_toggle argument is what you need to change the frequency. Have a look at the examples. This is for diamond vein: "vein_toggle": { "input": { "type": "minecraft:interpolated", "argument": { "type": "minecraft:noise", "noise": "minecraft:ore_veininess", "xz_scale": 1.5, "y_scale": 1.5 } } },For netherite they have 2.5. Plus a bunch of height and biome restrictions. Bigger scale = farther apart I believe.
>>564947815When I have really bad migraines and take a couple ibuprofen tablets, I start to feel slightly better immediately because of the placebo effect I guess.Maybe it’s supposed to be like that.
Is RLCraft worth playing with a buddy? Looking for a challenge with some content.
>>564951602Just look at youtube videos of friends trying to play RLCraft and see how well they take to it.
I think this looks better, just uses the natural slopes now. I'm not sure how to get it to look any better than this though.
>>564952075smoother slopes
>>564947710Changing noise octaves for the vein_ridged function is what seems to work. Which is odd, I assumed changing the octaves would be the same as scaling the noise, but no scaling the vein_ridged noise just results in the blocks of each vein being spaced out further.I also assumed that changing the noise octaves for the vein_toggle function would be what defines the distance between veins, but that didn't do shit. Scaling that function also seemed to do bugger all, maybe it also spaced the ores out.>>564948061If anything, I'd want to make everything (rivers and land) more flat, with short semi-steep sections between altitudes. That way the rivers will be flat except for little waterfalls, and the terrain will be easier to navigate. Constantly having to jump up hills is a pain in the ass (without a stepup-like mod), and little plateaus/terraces are nicely aesthetic. But that kind of pseudo-quantisation seems like a pain to do unless you get right into the weeds of the algorithm.>>564950802I want them to be common enough that you can probably find one if you search a large island for ten minutes. Better to spend ten minutes looking for a vein when you need it each ~5 hours of gameplay or whatever, as opposed to spending 100 minutes looking for a vein that lasts 50 hours of play, or spending 1 minute looking for a vein that lasts you 6 minutes. There's normal ore generation too.Wonder if I should bother with prospecting picks?
>>564952716There's definitely areas that are flatter, but in terms of usable fun map, this is too large, though you can reduce the scale I guess. The web view thing can let you find flat areas also if you filter the elevation, and I'm sure you can tweak the diffusion model to output flatter results fairly easily.I'm happy with where water is now, I think I'll move on to caves and add trees back
>>564953275Steppeland?

y200 mountain lake>>564953937Yeah, I think also they look weird because they're just sitting in the middle of blocks, I could probably place them further back and do slight channels or something.>>564954163A neat idea also. I'm just using the default river biome for the decoration side of things atm.For caves I'm not really sure what I'll do, if I want them to be realistic and tied to the water or if I just want them to look neat
>>564951498Regeneration also makes you feel slightly better immediately. Your migraine doesn't just instantly go away the moment you take the tablets though, does it?
>>564953275it becomes usable if the player starts with 64 logs and like 8 saplings
>>564830853So building on this, I’ll be the server guy and also have to put together an adventure/boss focused modpack. Are there any existing modpacks that are stable and not overloaded with slop, or is it better to make one from scratch? Also what dungeon boss mods are actually good right nowi’m new to this and have no clue and honestly have no idea where to start
>>564954572>Regeneration also makes you feel slightly better immediately.I think the logic of the mod is just that aspirin is medicine, and medicine in bideo james = hp go up. Regen is probably the more realistic approach but I've already automated growthcraft mead which gives me 8 mins of regen so instant health is better for my needs personally.>Your migraine doesn't just instantly go away the moment you take the tablets though, does it?No, it gets slightly better as soon as I take ibuprofen though. Apparently this is a common phenomenon when taking ibuprofen. The expectation of feeling better soon makes you imagine already starting to feel better immediately.

>>564964679The source is open, you can just edit it. I've made it run in a python sidecar though as I was trying to optimize it, not realizing that it was just minecrafts feature gen that was slowing everything down. The water stuff is all my own, since TD provides things like elevation, precipitation, etc. I take that and basically find depressions in the landscape and fill them with water, for rivers/downstream stuff I do some abhorrent flow routing using cells directing them to their steepest downhill neighbor (does not work). Essentially the worlds most over-engineered terrain mod that probably will only work on my setup. I am very autistic.
