Despite $30–40 billion in enterprise investment into GenAI, this report uncovers a surprising
result in that 95% of organizations are getting zero return. The outcomes are so starkly
divided across both buyers (enterprises, mid-market, SMBs) and builders (startups, vendors,
consultancies) that we call it the GenAI Divide. Just 5% of integrated AI pilots are extracting
millions in value, while the vast majority remain stuck with no measurable P&L impact. This
divide does not seem to be driven by model quality or regulation, but seems to be
determined by approach.
Tools like ChatGPT and Copilot are widely adopted. Over 80 percent of organizations have
explored or piloted them, and nearly 40 percent report deployment. But these tools
primarily enhance individual productivity, not P&L performance. Meanwhile, enterprisegrade systems, custom or vendor-sold, are being quietly rejected. Sixty percent of
organizations evaluated such tools, but only 20 percent reached pilot stage and just 5
percent reached production. Most fail due to brittle workflows, lack of contextual learning,
and misalignment with day-to-day operations.
From our interviews, surveys, and analysis of 300 public implementations, four patterns
emerged that define the GenAI Divide:

mechlab progress, gonna have to take the time to rename everything battletech related soonish. The walk cycle is resetting every time anything changed because I'm just destroying a recreating the mech game object to refresh the stats, hopefully it doesn't become a performance issue because I really don't want to have to do a major refactor to allow it to be dynamically reconfigured.

Watched Branno's vid. Seems like the novel hours to $1 game price metric is highly subjective. I've seen some games where novelty doesn't seem high and yet $14.99 with 80%+ or high rating. Then there are games with a low price yet poorly rated. Any ideas what other factors might influence this?

AI can be a power tool.
I've actually seen a couple fantastic AI generated comics but 99.9% of AI art is horrible. It enables low impulse control retards like our resident AI spammer.
Like I'll never understand why they do shit like upload galleries of 1000 variations of the same character in the same pose.

The novelty lasts longer if the mechanic is fun or has depth. It also depends on the person playing. In zelda you can get items that can be used as tools but also as weapons. The ball in chain may just be a tool for some people but it could also be a weapon to experiment with to another player.

you can still get access to the editor, you just have to build from source on github and spoof your steamID, only takes a few minutes
you just can't publish on the platform/standalone without having access
facepunch knows about the exploit they just don't care since the revocations were mainly to kill account selling and botted copies
if they didn't it would fuck with the playfund really hard, of the 800k players with beta access, only 40k kept theirs
if you look at the steamcharts, there was like 14k people ingame before they revoked, now it's like 2k

apparently hotreload works in multiplayer too, so you can host your editor session and do live multiplayer playtests fixing bugs and adding features while people are still in your lobby without them having to leave
not having to set up an event bus/interaction system/audio manager/sceneloader/networking is so nice, it just exists by default

Alright guys I've been working on this for about a month now, its a lot like the STALKER A-life system.

It simulates npcs that are in other zones/maps and I've got a basic faction war system too which allows them to fight for control of zones.
So you can see in this debug menu every NPC has a job, personality, faction, mood, and needs.
Their mood is determined by their current needs and their needs decay at different rates depending on their personality and factors like if they are safe, if they are doing their job, if their faction is at war and so on.

Still really far from being finished but I just made it so their mood determines their facial expression!
Oh and I know there's a neck seam on this dude's model, we'll fix that later.

Recently I've been thinking it might be cool to put a greater emphasis on the ocean. Add pirates that'll attack settlements and make it so you can buy/build boats and sail out to different islands or dive for treasure which would give you a reason to actually go out and encounter the sea creatures.

Whenever I have to use it I get the impression that they built this shit for their own internal use back in 2008 and have never updated it ever since. It's also very jank, like sometimes file uploads or trailer uploads just won't go through.
Like if you're publishing a game to Steam for the first time ever, it can literally take you DAYS to figure out just how to upload the game. Not set the settings up, just upload the files. It's ridiculous. There's also the problems of slow support for devs, and slow manual approvals. All that shit just needlessly slows down development after you've actually done the work.

What many people forget is Valve is very concsious about their public image. TF2 players often get Valve to do shit about that game just by raising a stink in the media. Like for example, they recently managed to get free 2 play players voice chat back simply by giving valve a petition and raising awareness on social media, even just a tiny bit.

Imagine if gamedevs started doing the same, and in large numbers. Valve would cave in, if it gets big enough, because they're very concsious about their "good guys of the industry" public image, and want to maintain it.

This morning I was making a salad and it took me more than an hour to wash and chop all the vegetables. And then I knocked it over and it all spilled on the floor and and I had to clean the floor and under the fridge and that was a total of 90 minutes wasted. I was pissed off and punching kitchen cabinets and inventing new swearword combinations... but then it occurred to me that I'm so far 1150 hours in making a game that's far more likely than not to flop. And it'll probably take me another 700 hours to find out. I shouldn't go berserk over wasting 90 minutes. Then again there's idiots who get pissed off having to wait 10 seconds in traffic so I guess I'm not the worst.
130 days left, that's 650 hours and the 20 hours that I owe.

The one thing I'd say they're good at is making games with a budget. There's a lot of studios in Japan working with smaller teams and budgets, and making it work for them in the long run.
