Chapter 3 was better, gameplay is becoming more enjoyable, multiple resourceful ways to tackle enemies and semi-open level design, found some boomsticks.

But it's so fucking jank and unpolished, what a garbage engine. Look at the chainsaw dude just freezing at the bottom without a proper stagger animation or the second hay bale not getting lit on fire despite completing the animation of lighting the match then the retard just getting caught on it. There are all sorts of janky issues with the movement/collisions too and objects proportions often look weird.

Really makes you appreciate how a talented designer can't do miracles without a proper studio backing him. The soul of RE is also in its super tight polish and that's due to top-tier Capcom programmers, budget and quality standards, regardless of the designer in charge.

For some reason OBS is shitting itself with the recording quality despite having disabled the film grain. What unholy eye cancer filters are they using.

And my God the sprinting is killing me, after an upgrade it's unbearable.

TEW1 has some serious problems. I've played it more than once, but its a rough game. I remember Two Best Friends restarted their whole LP due to crashes (its been like 10 years but I think they may have even restarted twice, ending up on PC with Pat doing one episode by himself to catch every one up with their intentions) and even on PC they were having issues especially toward the end of the game.

I have been playing through the OG. I enjoyed the remake, but it's soulless when compared to the original. The castle's much more fun. I like Luis a lot more. More isn't always better after all. Ashley is adorable so are her panties that occasionally peek out during cutscenes. Also her fashion sense is better. Simple yet striking

I took these in consideration while making the tierlist, I may have sounded like a coomer in my previous posts but I'm not that superficial.
Jill is elegant, cool, kind and gorgeous. She's badass in a very ideal feminine way. It's not only her looks that hook me in. The same goes for the other girls.
And despite having neglected characters I don't feel anything about, I made sure to have what I consider the ruined versions of the characters I love in the D tier. To me those portrayals betray the original vision in one way or another. Or multiple ways.
Anyway, I love Jill and you seem to love Jill too. We're good.

I've heard Nakanishi wanted to kill off RE protagonists for a while (One of REV1's first trailers do have Chris talking like he'll die this time, though it could be just a lie to get people hooked) but his decisions were always vetoed. If that's the case, then killing off Alyssa is much easier, because she's from a side game and doesn't have a lot of fans, hence, few complain how stupid her death is. I guess the really ballsy move was killing off Hunk since he does have a bigger fanbase, but even in his case he's treated like a powerful jobber.

You know, something I don't see many people mention about RE0 is how interesting the trade off is for the hunting rifle and shotgun. Since the pump action shotgun fires from the hip, its actually a markedly worse weapon all around even though it has a 7 shell capacity due to the limits of its aiming stances. Because the hunting rifle is actually held to the shoulder, its actually much easier to handle.

andersen was a big fan of the matrix, which is why he took the character's visual design in that direction. Wesker in code veronica and 4 was a little like that already, at least in the sense of his superhuman powers, but his visual design slanted SUPER hard into the matrix shit because of the andersen films.

Village is such a gorgeous setting. The Beneviento manor was kind of mid and generic looking but everything else was some of the best in the series. The castle looked so realistic with the gothic exterior and more modernized interior and then the medieval dungeon in the basement, just like an actual castle that has persisted and been redecorated through the years. I did like the design of Moreau's area but hated his boss fight and lack of unique enemy types in his area. The factory was awesome both visually and in terms of unique enemies. I greatly prefer the RE8 castle and factory over RE4's castle and island parts that they are analogous to.

RE8 is the first time in recent memory I actually felt joy while gaming. Maybe it's just because of the state I was in at the time personally but when the jetpack soldaten and the panzer showed up I was so happy with how the game was going and so pleasantly surprised because I had heard mixed to negative things overall about RE8

T-Veronica certainly has issues. It's much longer than other RE games were, actually its probably the second longest besides RE6. You change characters without warning which can fuck up your inventory if you don't rotate saves.
A huge issue people complain about is that if you leave the "empty fire extinguisher" in one area, you cannot use it later to put out a fire and get the Magnum, which has led to people simply not having enough firepower to beat the final boss. I think it's a very stupid complaint because if it was truly useless the game would prompt you to drop it.
I've played it a lot so I really adapt to the issues but I understand why people give up or why it tests their patience.

CVX was my first classic RE so I didn't even think of that. I didn't struggle against the final boss though kek.

A bunch of Code Veronica's biggest issues aren't a problem if you know what's coming ahead, but in a first time playthrough they're particularly frustrating, and survival horror games are meant to be at their best in a first time playthrough. RE0 is similar with some of its issues only really happening in a first time playthrough.

I sometimes don't even grab the magnum since you have more than enough explosion arrows to stunlock and kill her. I think RE0's parts are actually more frustrating since after the train, if you don't know exactly when to grab the hookshot you might have to clear out enemies you already juked (notably at the church, if you need to backtrack you end up on that balcony with a bunch of tanky Eliminators) and if you don't send Rebecca up in the lab area.

I replayed it recently, and while I did keep the fire extinguisher, I didn't bother with the magnum because grenade launcher is the Hunter killer, and can also be used to kill Alexia 1 quickly, and fire arrows is better than Magnum at killing Alexia anyway, so the magnum has no use... It would be pretty good in Rockfort area since its faster firing rate would be particularly useful to deal with Hunters, but alas, you can only get it in Antarctica... Reminds me my first time playthrough I left the fire arrows to deal with Steve, had no idea back then it was the best, final boss killing gun kek.

I'm not. The game is breaking my suspension of disbelief. And no, nemesis doesn't work like that in RE3. While he has scripted encounters, how you handle those encounters is entirely up to you. You can either run him around, fight him right there, retreat to a different part of the map that is more favorable to you e.g. one that has barrels or wall charges to blow up to remove a lot of his HP.
The baby is a completely, 100% linear scripted event. You deal with it the exact same way every time you play the game and if you have any experience playing these kinds of games you already generally understand what the game expects you to do even on a first playthrough. There is 0 choice involved in how you deal with it, you get under the bed like the developers intend, you let it waddle around the room a minute like the developers intend, you let it despawn, the trigger its next spawn location just like the developers intend, and then you run it around the nearby room like the developers intend. You can run it a million miles away from the elevator, get back to the elevator with it being nowhere near catching up with you, and it will still spawn right behind you as you enter the elevator for le ebin scurry cry scene.

Beneviento House really embodies everything I loathe the most about modern RE titles, if not modern vidya: it was streamer bait. It was a vertical gameplay slice made explicitly for the purpose of being clippable.
In fact you can make a more direct comparison to Jack in RE7. Even as generally linear as the first stalker sequence after dinner is, the player still has mulitple choices for how to deal with their situation because that entire vertical slice is trying to teach the player about elements of the gameplay. They can either go full bore, swipe the key they need and sprint away letting Jack chase them, or a clever player might be able to sneak around so well they get the key and get to the crawlspace without ever being spotted by Jack - he doesn't teleport across the house to have the same scripted interaction with the player stomping on the grate spitting and seething that he does if you escape right in his face, instead he bellows across the house. And when he despawns for the brief period the player has to speak to the cop and then go to the garage, the cop's presence was used as the narrative excuse for why Jack despawned since he'd already been talking about being pissed that the officer was snooping around his property, and implying he was going to go kill him. Which is exactly what happens when Jack shows up in the garage to kill him and start a boss fight that ends with Jack's brains getting blown out, giving the player another period of time where they can explore without being stalked by Jack who is, in the sense of the story, recovering from his wounds. RE7 goes out of its way to preserve my suspension of disbelief while RE8 just doesn't give a fuck. It doesn't have to. RE7 was made for PSVR from the ground up so necessarily that meant vertical slices like the Jack segments had to be immersive and engaging. Beneviento House did not. All der baby had to do was look good in a clip or stream to get normies talking about the game

Because they're stupid. They're not playing a video game, they're watching an interactive cutscene. I still feel a lot of tension and sometimes get scared playing RE7 on Madhouse, or playing older Resident Evil titles. People "shit themselves" not because they were being engaged in the experience of a survival horror video game but because they're normie cattle. The manor didn't need to necessarily need to be longer, it needed to have actual fucking gameplay. It needed substance instead of a linear scripted sequence where nothing you do actually matters outside of the tight, and very apparent rails you've been placed on. Breaking a player's suspension of disbelief is the absolute worst thing you can do in a game because it takes them immediately out of the experience.
And no, the Dmitrescu and Bella/Cassandra/Whatsherface chases were emergent. There were scripted moments, like Dmitrescu jumping Ethan and cutting his hand off, etc. but that specific example you gave was just the stalker AI displaying reactive behavior to player action. You got chased by both of them because of things you did in the game and you dealt with it using the tools that were available to you, in your own way. That never happened to me, but it sounds cool, and that's the appeal of having actual gameplay driving an experience. It's something only a video game can give you and its one of the reasons why segments like Beneviento House piss me off so much.

No, I originally played it on the PS3 when it was still the current gen. I'd love to play it again but the PC version has softlock bugs that requires quiting the game and reopening it in a windowed tiny resolution window to get through a transition and playing it in that tiny window until the next save point before going back to full res full screen and its just a pain in the ass.

This is where she pops up from a blood pool? I've never even tried. Just ran. Later you have a set battle against her. Its difficult but the trick is that she only comes out of dead bodies in the arena which you can light on fire so when you see that animation you rush it and drop a match. If you have the Fire Damage upgrade to the Crossbow you can do that as well once you run out of bodies. Otherwise just run, lure to the furnace and shoot.

TEW2 is somewhat stand-alone besides the relationship SeaBass has with Julie and I (like I said earlier) think it is a far better game

I googled it and according to my old friend GameFaqs it is possible but very difficult since at that point you likely didn't invest in the Crossbow enough to have Fire Damage on a first run, the size of the room and the lack of bodies to burn for fire damage.

Yeah I meant special enemies, normal zombies are easy as fuck to kill especially compared to modern RE games but you can mag dump specials and they'll shrug it off

I generally think its to compensate for the skills you can equip because the regular zombies are already made of paper but since the skills are straight upgrades to make enemies drop more shit, do more damage, less recoil it would probably trivilalize the game too much if the specials were also jobbers.

I will say that while I don't mind there not being a connected item box, a disconnected one would be great, along with being able to freely pick up and put things down. Like a lite real survivor, but the entire game is actually designed around it.

For example complaining about "respawning zombies" when what actually happens is you enter a room, see a bunch of dead bodies in a zombie game, and somehow don't think that they'll reanimate at some point later in the game. Or having Rebecca set to attack mode with a grenade launcher equipped against a mimicry marcus, then being surprised when, after refusing to kill them with fire, the leeches break apart on the floor and Rebecca then starts wasting grenades on them.
0 isn't a particularly difficult game unless you're painfully retarded outside of two instances of actually bad game design.

I realized that Mimicry Marcus' are kind of bitchmade. On Hard it takes 3 molotovs or flame grenades to kill them. But if you give Rebecca the molotovs, since Billy can fire the Grenade Launcher faster, you can nail him with a flame grenade, Rebecca will hit him with a molotov right after, then you can just blast him immediately with a third flame grenade keeping him totally stunlocked. It's nice that Rebecca throws Molotovs at the same speed as Billy, it's probably the one instance where she's not total dogshit at combat compared to him.
I'm pretty sure that I should leave the grenade launcher behind once I run out of flame grenades though. I have 3 explosive grenades and 1 acid grenade left after doing the hunter gauntlet, but I don't see them being particularly useful to cart around after I finish up this wing of the training facility and then fight the rest of the eliminators.
