Chapter 3 was better, gameplay is becoming more enjoyable, multiple resourceful ways to tackle enemies and semi-open level design, found some boomsticks. But it's so fucking jank and unpolished, what a garbage engine. Look at the chainsaw dude just freezing at the bottom without a proper stagger animation or the second hay bale not getting lit on fire despite completing the animation of lighting the match then the retard just getting caught on it. There are all sorts of janky issues with the movement/collisions too and objects proportions often look weird.Really makes you appreciate how a talented designer can't do miracles without a proper studio backing him. The soul of RE is also in its super tight polish and that's due to top-tier Capcom programmers, budget and quality standards, regardless of the designer in charge. For some reason OBS is shitting itself with the recording quality despite having disabled the film grain. What unholy eye cancer filters are they using. And my God the sprinting is killing me, after an upgrade it's unbearable.
>>564807636I remember upgrading sprintimg as much as i could in my first playthrough ages ago and still being constantly out of breath, i could not stomach a second playthough
>>564807636>>564808342TEW1 has some serious problems. I've played it more than once, but its a rough game. I remember Two Best Friends restarted their whole LP due to crashes (its been like 10 years but I think they may have even restarted twice, ending up on PC with Pat doing one episode by himself to catch every one up with their intentions) and even on PC they were having issues especially toward the end of the game.I very much like TEW2 though

>>564792813 I have been playing through the OG. I enjoyed the remake, but it's soulless when compared to the original. The castle's much more fun. I like Luis a lot more. More isn't always better after all. Ashley is adorable so are her panties that occasionally peek out during cutscenes. Also her fashion sense is better. Simple yet striking
>>564810260>a combination of factors, attractiveness and overall appeal and sensibilityI took these in consideration while making the tierlist, I may have sounded like a coomer in my previous posts but I'm not that superficial.Jill is elegant, cool, kind and gorgeous. She's badass in a very ideal feminine way. It's not only her looks that hook me in. The same goes for the other girls. And despite having neglected characters I don't feel anything about, I made sure to have what I consider the ruined versions of the characters I love in the D tier. To me those portrayals betray the original vision in one way or another. Or multiple ways.Anyway, I love Jill and you seem to love Jill too. We're good.

>>564809170I've heard Nakanishi wanted to kill off RE protagonists for a while (One of REV1's first trailers do have Chris talking like he'll die this time, though it could be just a lie to get people hooked) but his decisions were always vetoed. If that's the case, then killing off Alyssa is much easier, because she's from a side game and doesn't have a lot of fans, hence, few complain how stupid her death is. I guess the really ballsy move was killing off Hunk since he does have a bigger fanbase, but even in his case he's treated like a powerful jobber.

You know, something I don't see many people mention about RE0 is how interesting the trade off is for the hunting rifle and shotgun. Since the pump action shotgun fires from the hip, its actually a markedly worse weapon all around even though it has a 7 shell capacity due to the limits of its aiming stances. Because the hunting rifle is actually held to the shoulder, its actually much easier to handle.
>>564829289In extinction Wesker wore a skin tight leather shirt and pants combo + trench coat and matrix glassesandersen was a big fan of the matrix, which is why he took the character's visual design in that direction. Wesker in code veronica and 4 was a little like that already, at least in the sense of his superhuman powers, but his visual design slanted SUPER hard into the matrix shit because of the andersen films.anyway nips dont really take movies so seriously. they gooned a lot over millia johovich, they absolutely loved the stupid anime bullshit that everyone in the states was complaining about, and they really liked the special effects of the movies the mosti can actually understand the last part because even though for example they ruined nemesis as a villain in the 2nd movie it was so fuarking cool seeing him come to life on the silver screen in the first half of the movie
>>564830159It was a peacoat/dress coat not a trench coat, different things. But yeah other than that, basically.

I bet that when Miranda took over as Mia she started doing real freak shit in bed and begging Ethan to put it in her butt etc. and Ethan thought it was kind of weird that she changed so suddenly but assumed it was maybe another bout of baby fever causing increased libido. The reality is that Japanese people have forgotten that married people have sex in other countries so the implications of Miranda disguising herself as Mia for an extended period of time were lost on them
>>564844102Yes hello. I just killed the girl and this was a pretty bad section, not even scary or unsettling just fully scripted. Worst part was when they give you a molotov and the crank that needs to be hold, I hate it when games do this shit just put it as a cutscene
>>564845163nah she undoubtedly bounced on it was known as the village whore before the flu
>>564845163do you think she got off on ethan complimenting her by interpreting e.g.>wow, you smell great today hun, new scent?as>wow, you smell so much nicer than mia>wow, your pussy is so much tighter than mia's>wow, your cooking is so much better than mia's>wow, your breast milk tastes so good, unlike mia'setc.
>>564845931The other side of that coin is how pissed Moreau was that Ethan got to do that. He was definitely rage fucking the real Mia the entire week Miranda was away from the village.
>>564846534i highly doubt moreau's dick even worksman what if miranda got pregnant from ethan and tried for her own rose bitch was so obsessed with 1 kid bitch in the spanish flu the avg family size was like 15 kids people's kids dropped left n right they forgot about em in a week and went nextwhat a pussy

re8 gave me another vidya pet peeve. It has beautiful looking loading screens, and they load fast, but 90% on the loading is done in game while you stare at a brick wall doing nothing for a whole fucking minute on an elevator
This is so cool but at the same time it's kinda hurting my brain. Also RE might actually be too scary for VR, I get scared enough playing normally. That zombie walking a few steps forward while dying made me jump...>>564852623RE6 is painful in many different little ways, I just dropped it. Wish there was at least a QTE-skip mod but nah fuck this game desu
>>564853459jesus christ, how horrifying
>>564853321really not that big a deal desu the elevators lmao>>564853459the whole episodic format chose how u want to play online coop encouraged chapters etc shit completely immersion breakingbut im gonna power through it for story sake besides requiem its now the only mainline game i haven't played
>>564850819Village is such a gorgeous setting. The Beneviento manor was kind of mid and generic looking but everything else was some of the best in the series. The castle looked so realistic with the gothic exterior and more modernized interior and then the medieval dungeon in the basement, just like an actual castle that has persisted and been redecorated through the years. I did like the design of Moreau's area but hated his boss fight and lack of unique enemy types in his area. The factory was awesome both visually and in terms of unique enemies. I greatly prefer the RE8 castle and factory over RE4's castle and island parts that they are analogous to.
>>564854264You couldn't have this in a vidya in current year. Because of woke.
>>564854206manor > factory for me, factory was longer of course, manor felt short as fuck, but beneviento part was 3x scarier than anything in the factory and the factory was confusing as fuck with its same-y looking corridors and too much verticality, got lost a few times, castle is the absolute peak design and aesthethics wise tho, the village itself isn't bad either besides being a bit annoying to traverse
RE6 is such a tragic mess though, 0 incentive to explore, you don't even have the freedom to chose when you sprint around, 0 inventory management, 0 anything resident evil besides what the game is about, idk what they were thinkin w this one at least the women are hot
No wonder everybody hates RE5Bitchass game stole my achievement and my infinite ammo

>>564855617i like cod and this still feels ghetto as fuck, can't believe its from 2012, since mw2 2009 is more ahead of this game in every single way, feels dated as fuck, but it is what it is

>>564854206I thought his boss fight was kind of cool honestly. The acid rain move was fun and neat.
>>564854206>>564854348I did NOT like the layout of the Factory, felt like too much backtracking and looping around but I thought the enemies were fantastic. The last Soldats, the Panzers were very good.
>>564857860the enemies were literally killing floor pretty cool but I expected more than just the same humanoid dudes with different clothes, my only complaint with village was it needed more of everythingmore of the castle, more of the manor, more enemy types everywhere, game felt a bit rushed, but what was there is fantastic, definitely top 5 REs ever
>>564856875I think I must have been at maximum adaptive difficulty when I fought him because he had an absurd amount of health. It has been a few months since I played it but I recall spending what felt like 15+ minutes running around that damn arena crafting ammo because I kept running out and it soured me on his fight.>>564857860RE8 is the first time in recent memory I actually felt joy while gaming. Maybe it's just because of the state I was in at the time personally but when the jetpack soldaten and the panzer showed up I was so happy with how the game was going and so pleasantly surprised because I had heard mixed to negative things overall about RE8
wtf isn't this shit just the T viruszombs using tools
every goddamn door in 6 I have to wait for helena to pop up next to me to openthis shit is MUCH more annoying than just pressing A once to skip the door animations in classic RE i think RE5 had the same annoyance to be fair, haven't played it in 10+ years, dumbass coop trend
>>564858334It’s T-Veronica mixed with the G-Virus.
>>564858882RE5 and RE6 would benefit so much from a modern remake with better coop features. I actually really liked the coop aspect of RE5 because of how barebones it is but I think it could benefit from being more drop-in drop-out almost like Souls coop
>>564858334Its the C-Virus which is T-Veronica and G
>>564858957>>564859124T-veronica huhwonder if code veronica is as bad as they say game about claire and chris sounds kino but idk
>>564859240T-Veronica certainly has issues. It's much longer than other RE games were, actually its probably the second longest besides RE6. You change characters without warning which can fuck up your inventory if you don't rotate saves.A huge issue people complain about is that if you leave the "empty fire extinguisher" in one area, you cannot use it later to put out a fire and get the Magnum, which has led to people simply not having enough firepower to beat the final boss. I think it's a very stupid complaint because if it was truly useless the game would prompt you to drop it. I've played it a lot so I really adapt to the issues but I understand why people give up or why it tests their patience.
>>564859453holy shitthis is how i learn that RE6 is 20 fucking hours long in a perfect world village would be the one thats 20 hours long...
>>564858134>>564857860I think we needed way more Heisenberg. Guy was too cool to be killed off so quickly.
>>564859894yeah i like how they made him the voice of mercs at leasthis english VA is the best
>>564859771A lot of 6 is just reused segments, since characters cross over with each other a lot.
>>564859453>I think it's a very stupid complaint because if it was truly useless the game would prompt you to drop it. CVX was my first classic RE so I didn't even think of that. I didn't struggle against the final boss though kek.>I've played it a lot so I really adapt to the issues but I understand why people give up or why it tests their patience.A bunch of Code Veronica's biggest issues aren't a problem if you know what's coming ahead, but in a first time playthrough they're particularly frustrating, and survival horror games are meant to be at their best in a first time playthrough. RE0 is similar with some of its issues only really happening in a first time playthrough.>>564861113RE6 also really likes areas that overstay their welcome to make the game artificially longer. Leon's intro is particularly noticeable since it's like 10 minutes long of an useless rescue mission and a lot of walking segments.
THEY'RE FUCKIN SHOOTING AT ME WHAT THE FUCKKso goddamn silly though there's no low health indicator staggering or anything in this game, you just kinda drop outta nowhere a lot of the times
>>564859771RE6 is weird for me as its easily my least favorite of the franchise but I still like it enough that I replay it (along with the whole series) before a new release BUT this is only because I ground out enough points for infinite ammo for nearly all weapons. >>564862094>I didn't struggle against the final boss though kek.I sometimes don't even grab the magnum since you have more than enough explosion arrows to stunlock and kill her. I think RE0's parts are actually more frustrating since after the train, if you don't know exactly when to grab the hookshot you might have to clear out enemies you already juked (notably at the church, if you need to backtrack you end up on that balcony with a bunch of tanky Eliminators) and if you don't send Rebecca up in the lab area.
>>564862169This is why I think Requiem might’ve been a testing ground for a 6 remake. The soldier zombies in there could also use guns.
>>564862169okay that one was mb though
>>564862467Possible, but it’s not the first time they’ve done that either, could have just been a fun thing
>>564825795Most people have forgotten Fear I fear at this point. I still love it though. Alma is my wife.
>>564825795>>564862927FEAR 1 literally still holds up, i can't believe thats a 2005 game btw play trepang2 if u want modern cope FEAR with less horror
>>564862927Its both because it was a 360-era game and that while the first two were highly regarded, F3AR was so bad that they cancelled FE4R. So younger gamers who weren't teens in the 360 era wouldn't touch it.
>>564862927>>564863317its super well known in the FPS community, tons of people play it from that due to word of mouth for the AI and physics n shit, also "best shotgun in FPS" which i don't think so but still its up there
>>564862356>I sometimes don't even grab the magnum since you have more than enough explosion arrows to stunlock and kill her.I replayed it recently, and while I did keep the fire extinguisher, I didn't bother with the magnum because grenade launcher is the Hunter killer, and can also be used to kill Alexia 1 quickly, and fire arrows is better than Magnum at killing Alexia anyway, so the magnum has no use... It would be pretty good in Rockfort area since its faster firing rate would be particularly useful to deal with Hunters, but alas, you can only get it in Antarctica... Reminds me my first time playthrough I left the fire arrows to deal with Steve, had no idea back then it was the best, final boss killing gun kek.>notably at the church, if you need to backtrack you end up on that balcony with a bunch of tanky EliminatorsHappened to me...>and if you don't send Rebecca up in the lab area. You don't have to do that as long as you got the green chemical earlier on in the training facility. It does mean you have to do more swapping though, but at least Bully can be the one to deal with two Hunters.>>564862467Requiem might be a testing ground for CV too. Making Claire's section more horror focused while Chris' is more action focused. Some areas are also similar to Spencer's mansion.
i wonder if i shoulda played this shit on controller, like half my time playing the game is spent struggling with the control scheme, its so damn unintuitive, I keep accidentally rolling n shit, worse kb + m controls than dark souls
>>564853459Continued playingidk why but rotating the camera hurts my eyes, idk if it's a framerate thing or what.Pico stats says 72fps, and I have the game set to Variable fps with vsync offEither way, games super fun like this
capcom confirmed the development of dlc for re9 and a new minigame, i doubt there'd be a new mercenaries, i mean grace's melee hits deal 0 damage

I'm also suprised they haven't tried to add some kind of roguelike randomly generated bonus mode, it would be nice to get additional shit to playthrough that isn't the story or a time trial in a small arena even if it wouldn't be up to the same standard as the main story.

HOLY KINO !!!!
Soooooo, just finished 8 and it’s dlc.Uhhh it was a good game and I got the lore part and story. But uhhh, is this resident evil or final fantasy? Is 9 more like 4R? 4R was good despite the cut content. I really liked 7 4R 2R 1R and the original three and 4. Haven’t played 5 or 6 yet or the others. It’s not that I disliked 8, it was beautiful but just maybe I’m too old and not the target audience.
>>564885102maybe, but his axe deals 1000000
>>564892348what do you mean by that, besides being a bit more linear than usual its very much resident evil, or is it because the villains had too much personality for you? then again there's sadler and salazar in 4 so idk
>>564891851i like the part how metal rusted out but there are still paper pages still readable
>>564886039god, the player movement in this game was so awkward
>>564892921everything in the game is super awkward, its like the good and fun parts trying to break through the mold of some kinda indie fanfic loosely based on RE, you can tell they spent a ton of money on cutscenes VA work etc while at the same time neglecting gameplay in every way, weird game
>>564892918doesn't make any sense realistically but i don't care, i love shit like that where the hero goes back to the beginningI really didn't mind the bomb collecting part, I thought it was alright and the upside down building segment was cool. I was a Requiem hater before playing it but so far I think it's a good game. I know I'm going to start hating it again when I'm playing Grace and need to be a complete bitch around zombies, at least let us play old school RE with her
>>564892348Do you mean in terms of the DLC and Rose's powers? I think it was a nice way of wrapping up the "Rose has special very rare powers due to her father." Additionally she isn't shown using any powers IRL, just within the mold so they can always retcon it as "yeah she did that because she was inside her own head" or something like that. I liked the DLC and I am old, 36.
>>564893287nostalgia based marketing got ya good
>>564893480but even then the powers she had are absolutely nothing compared to the powers the average virus empowered but still cognicent creature like wesker has, wesker has 10x more anime moves
>>564892648See that’s the problem, I’m not exactly sure why I am stumped with 8. It just felt empty to me. I felt the emotion and tension during the end of the main story (and Chris) and both sections at Beneviento’s house. But other than that, I am perplexed. It feels so completely smooth and mellow.>>564893480Yeah I’m 33 and I noticed the “inside my head” plausible deniability of the DLC. I don’t know, it’s like the whole thing felt inconsequential. And there are parallels to the game Beyond Two Souls that I played the demo of. (And was disappointed with)The whole superpower in my head thing was the lemon frosting to the lemon cake that only has flavor when served lukewarm. God damn I sound like the Duke right now.
sh2 remake is soulles-https://x.com/Rashmunchel/status/2048487241362657723
>>564894480the whole point of the dlc is that rose came to term with her powers and finally met her dad which sacrificed everything for her, the ring is supposed to be proof that it wasn't just all in her head it did actually happen, i thought the gameplay was mid for 70% of it compared to the main game but the ending was touching asf, least you know rose turned out ok so your efforts weren't for naught
>>564892921>>564893037Am I insane or are the controls worse than 4 and 5? I don't remember the camera being so locked in place when running in RE4/5 compared to 6 and I don't remember the movement stick being the button to quickly turn around, seems like the camera janks around at random all the time too also the enemies are so fucking bullet spongey its annoying. Also whoever made 6s inventory screen needs to be shot>>564893287For me Graces parts only suck because you have 0 fucking weapon variety its just sneaking up on zombies or shooting them in the head with the pistol 38 times
>>564895478you need to go into camera controls and there's a setting that dashing doesn't lock down your view something like that so u can look up and down while dashing, there's also one where it sets so you aim where ur camera is pointing and not always in front of you, the game was unplayable until I changed that, even after all that yeah the controls are the worst PC controls i've ever seen in a game, there is basically no inventory screen, there's no inventory management, the herbs mean nothing, you press H and it auto combines and chucks em into ur inventory as several use heal items u can just spam when lowaltho i dont think the generic enemies are very spongy at all? I remember 5 enemies being way more spongy... here 3-4 headshots makes most zombies heads explode, 1shot with the shotgun up close
>>564894872I agree with you yes the ring is the tangible aspect of the dlc. I hope Capcom does something more with Rose. I think she has plenty of story left to tell for the future games. If they decide to revisit her character that is. Maybe in RE11 she gets the power to reincarnate someone and has to choose between Claire or Chris.
>>564854423>it was scaryIt wasn't. It was barely even gameplay since the entire thing was 100% scripted, the only fun part was the puzzles. Ooooooo look out the baby's gonna eat ya hide under the bed for a couple of minutes! Oooooo the baby's gonna eat ya! Run around this table for a minute and then go to the elevator!I genuinely don't understand how people find linear hide n seek slop scary.
>>564858108>rushedThe ironic part about this is it actually started development alongside RE7. It was just in development hell for so long they eventually turned it into a sequel.
>>564897346idk you're basically meta-gaming it, yknow that nemesis in RE3 basically works the same, he spawns only in set intervals, he disappears after exactly 4-5 rooms, you can around in circles a bit and he fucks off, see how you can elaborate anything away like that? i went into the baby scene not knowing how it'll play out other than the baby existing and it was scary asf, sure short n ez to evade, but it is what it is

which one of you is this
>>564897661>y-you're metagaming itI'm not. The game is breaking my suspension of disbelief. And no, nemesis doesn't work like that in RE3. While he has scripted encounters, how you handle those encounters is entirely up to you. You can either run him around, fight him right there, retreat to a different part of the map that is more favorable to you e.g. one that has barrels or wall charges to blow up to remove a lot of his HP.The baby is a completely, 100% linear scripted event. You deal with it the exact same way every time you play the game and if you have any experience playing these kinds of games you already generally understand what the game expects you to do even on a first playthrough. There is 0 choice involved in how you deal with it, you get under the bed like the developers intend, you let it waddle around the room a minute like the developers intend, you let it despawn, the trigger its next spawn location just like the developers intend, and then you run it around the nearby room like the developers intend. You can run it a million miles away from the elevator, get back to the elevator with it being nowhere near catching up with you, and it will still spawn right behind you as you enter the elevator for le ebin scurry cry scene.
>>564897661>>564899239Beneviento House really embodies everything I loathe the most about modern RE titles, if not modern vidya: it was streamer bait. It was a vertical gameplay slice made explicitly for the purpose of being clippable. In fact you can make a more direct comparison to Jack in RE7. Even as generally linear as the first stalker sequence after dinner is, the player still has mulitple choices for how to deal with their situation because that entire vertical slice is trying to teach the player about elements of the gameplay. They can either go full bore, swipe the key they need and sprint away letting Jack chase them, or a clever player might be able to sneak around so well they get the key and get to the crawlspace without ever being spotted by Jack - he doesn't teleport across the house to have the same scripted interaction with the player stomping on the grate spitting and seething that he does if you escape right in his face, instead he bellows across the house. And when he despawns for the brief period the player has to speak to the cop and then go to the garage, the cop's presence was used as the narrative excuse for why Jack despawned since he'd already been talking about being pissed that the officer was snooping around his property, and implying he was going to go kill him. Which is exactly what happens when Jack shows up in the garage to kill him and start a boss fight that ends with Jack's brains getting blown out, giving the player another period of time where they can explore without being stalked by Jack who is, in the sense of the story, recovering from his wounds. RE7 goes out of its way to preserve my suspension of disbelief while RE8 just doesn't give a fuck. It doesn't have to. RE7 was made for PSVR from the ground up so necessarily that meant vertical slices like the Jack segments had to be immersive and engaging. Beneviento House did not. All der baby had to do was look good in a clip or stream to get normies talking about the game
>>564898104Heather and Ashley´s designs look very similar, indeed.>>564897752Cute costume swap for two hotties.
>>564899239if you have experience with these kinda games, then you are very hard to scare to begin with, the baby made most people shit themselves hence why its so infamous, yeah I didn't expect it to be that easy to dodge, but it was still unsettling and tense, the whole manor part coulda been longer and less rushed though, but what can u do, i still loved village too much to nitpick that hard>>564899446i'm not sure if its scripted but my fav chase scene in village was when fuckin dimitrescu and 1 of her daughters started chasing at the same time lmao
>>564899749i gotta admit though for pure horror, silent hill is 10x more effective than resident evil, any resident evil, I like the action, which is why i prefer the series, but the enemy deisgns and environment in SH2 remake was just too creepy in comparison, no place felt safe
Miranda was definitely streaming 4k 60fps footage of her getting creampied by Ethan directly to Mia's cuck chair
>>564901176it is known
>>564899749>most people shit themselvesBecause they're stupid. They're not playing a video game, they're watching an interactive cutscene. I still feel a lot of tension and sometimes get scared playing RE7 on Madhouse, or playing older Resident Evil titles. People "shit themselves" not because they were being engaged in the experience of a survival horror video game but because they're normie cattle. The manor didn't need to necessarily need to be longer, it needed to have actual fucking gameplay. It needed substance instead of a linear scripted sequence where nothing you do actually matters outside of the tight, and very apparent rails you've been placed on. Breaking a player's suspension of disbelief is the absolute worst thing you can do in a game because it takes them immediately out of the experience. And no, the Dmitrescu and Bella/Cassandra/Whatsherface chases were emergent. There were scripted moments, like Dmitrescu jumping Ethan and cutting his hand off, etc. but that specific example you gave was just the stalker AI displaying reactive behavior to player action. You got chased by both of them because of things you did in the game and you dealt with it using the tools that were available to you, in your own way. That never happened to me, but it sounds cool, and that's the appeal of having actual gameplay driving an experience. It's something only a video game can give you and its one of the reasons why segments like Beneviento House piss me off so much.
>>564901416brudder you are casting your pearls before swine right now
>>564901416yeah I understand the criticism desu, I could manage to suspend my disbelief that's all, the whole manor segment felt rushed but very cool regardless, it is what it is, I really 100% xpected to have to fight the baby eventually but it didn't happen idk, i assume cause they rushed that segment or idk
>>564804773Wesker got to breed that????
>>564902626wesker got to breed prime jill hes a spoiled bastard
>>564902495It wasn't rushed, dude. The version of the game that actually released was in development for almost 4 years. What we got was exactly what they fully and completely intended. There was no cut content or other intentions behind it, and the game's director was most proud of that sequence out of everything in the game per his own statements.

>>564905741I wouldn't say that james is a pussy ass bitch per se desuyou just have WAYYY less resources and the sound design and level design is that much scarier, at least in SH2 remake the only SH i've played (so far, gonna try sh1 og these days)sound design is like more than half of the scares in horror istg, or even more, RE7 was scary because of the sound design, the darkness alone wouldn't do much without the creepy ass sound design i still remember when i left the house the first time there was no enemies but the ambiance made it so creepy
>>564906076also lets just be 4real zombies aren't that scary anymore lol, not as much as they were in the 90s or whatever, hunters are incredibly goofy, the first one literally opens a door and closes it coming out before skulking at you, dogs and spiders are also kinda whatever, silent hill there's always some kinda freaky twisted japanese horror shit after you why are these things in sacks bleeding all over the streets like slugs n shit goddamn that game spooked me
first enemy
>CHRIS: That wasn't Mia, Ethan! It was Miranda. She has the ability to change her appearance.>ETHAN: Huh, that explains why she suddenly started letting me use the backdoor>CHRIS: Nice.....
>>564906226That’s why RE has moved away from zombies since the third game. I’d say the scariest RE monsters are on par with the worst of what SH has to offer. I also feel SH has suffered a similar problem of overexposure. Pyramid Head just isn’t scary anymore, even if he used to be really creepy, ironically I think The Room probably has the scariest enemies even if it is the weakest of the 4 games.
>>564906621no fucking way man, there is no RE monster that comes close to SH monsters in spooky factor to me, RE enemies are cooler, not more scary, never more scary
>>564906879Brother, no offense, you just admitted the SH2 Remake is the only game in the series you’ve played, all of this is naturally subjective at the end of the day but that game didn’t even really do the original justice when it came to amending the atmosphere that actually made the original tense. You should play the others and see how well they compare for you.
>>5649078753 had very refined and distinguished monsters, not scary at all.

There really isn't a Japanese cultural influence on the games beyond lensing all of the influences of the game through a Japanese mind.>>564907875This.
>>564910826And the town itself being named after a Japanese town.
>>564911278Sort of. The name was chosen because they'd already decided on the setting of the town, which as a fictional distortion of Centralia, Pennsylvania combined with elements of Appalachian history surrounding the Church of Latterday Saints.
>>564903681Damn didnt see it before posting this>>564909750
>>564910826western inspiration yeah but still eastern design, body horror is very much japs' thing and the type of monsters in the franchise is some shit you won't find from a western designed shit, ive seen those movies and there's only one scene in the entirety of jacobs ladder where it's particularly silent hill-y there's a hospital w some otherworld shit and a guy doing the head shake for a bit, think even that is a common trope in jap horror the jerky unnatural movement thing

>>564913106I own it but have never even installed it for some reason. Wasn't it a Half Life 2 mod?
>>564912882No, I originally played it on the PS3 when it was still the current gen. I'd love to play it again but the PC version has softlock bugs that requires quiting the game and reopening it in a windowed tiny resolution window to get through a transition and playing it in that tiny window until the next save point before going back to full res full screen and its just a pain in the ass.
>>564912750Yeah, that's a good point too.>>564913106You're just outright wrong, dude. The body horror your alluding to was inspired by western surrealist horror pieces from the 60's-80's. Junji Ito is probably the widest known example of this. And yeah, I played Cry of Fear when it originally released. It was fun.
>>564913425it was a half life 1 mod technically on that engine, not source, but it's standalone, free on steam too afaik
>>564913106Cry of Fear was creepy as shit. Sad that it’s been largely forgotten but it has some of the most effective scares in a game I’ve played period along with Condemned (even if I wasn’t fond of the overall story)
>>564913524idk but there are tons of 90s and 00s jap horror flicks I've seen that give me huge silent hill vibes so either they were all inspired by hellraiser n other western stuff too (possible) or silent hill still takes inspiration from jhorror, that's how I've always imagined it anyway, whilst RE is the franchise 100% western B movies based to the core
>>564913106id like to point out you stupid fucking faggot that for example the nurses in sh2 were inspired by hans bellemer's die puppe, per team silent themselves on the original sh2too bad your 30 hours of e celeb bloviating didnt teach you that huh

>>564913554>free on steamSo thats why I own it.
>>564913009It’s from Jacob’s Ladder. The Chatterer inspired Nemesis.
>>564913814>The creators of those horror flicks and multimedia themselves cite their western inspirations openly>IDK DUDE MAYBE THEY COULD BE...but idk...idk dude.....maybe.....you could just stop replying you know
>>564913814A huge amount of them are actually influenced by Tetsuo the Iron Man and 964 Pinocchio, both of which are niche but very well respected Japanese body horror films. I assume a lot of from Junji Ito as well.
>>564913995being inspired by one thing doesn't mean they weren't inspired by other things too yknow?
>still kinda frustrated at the end of DL3>but the urge to replay is strongwhat the fuck
>>564914018reminds me to see tetsuo been meaning togotta love how you can't be a successful 80s/90s horror movie wothout a bajillion redundant sequels that get worse n worse
>>564913867The game is still garbage, so having like 2 or 3 good designs is actually worse, since they’re stuck in that trash heap of a game. They also seriously tried to start some kind of Silent Hill MCU, what with Travis returning, and Mary SHEPARD Sunderland, and they wanted to conclude that storyline with Josh and Alessa having a Super Saiyan battle over Toluca Lake.
>>564914018Both of which were made by people who have openly talked about their western inspirations, I'd addFor example, Shinya Tsukamato has talked at length about how the works of William Gibson, stuff like Blade Runner, and Einsturzende Neubauten influenced his creative works.

>>564921002This is where she pops up from a blood pool? I've never even tried. Just ran. Later you have a set battle against her. Its difficult but the trick is that she only comes out of dead bodies in the arena which you can light on fire so when you see that animation you rush it and drop a match. If you have the Fire Damage upgrade to the Crossbow you can do that as well once you run out of bodies. Otherwise just run, lure to the furnace and shoot.TEW2 is somewhat stand-alone besides the relationship SeaBass has with Julie and I (like I said earlier) think it is a far better game
>>564920846The one you have yo play in the castle to get the iron key

>>564921180shit
>>564921450Yes it's the first encounter; the loading screen says she can be defeated.I tried reloading save and rushing to burn the body outside the elevator and she still spawned so it must be completely scripted in that first sequence.
>>564921778Yes, I have never tried to fight her there. I googled it and according to my old friend GameFaqs it is possible but very difficult since at that point you likely didn't invest in the Crossbow enough to have Fire Damage on a first run, the size of the room and the lack of bodies to burn for fire damage.

Somehow i killed one enemy with a bullet on my run for the trophy, had to do the whole game again in another 4 hours. Oh well, time to move on to sh f
>>564919026Ito is happy because he doesn't live in the hell he imagines. Miyazaki is grumpy because he doesn't live in the paradise he imagines.

>have the chance to meet&greet Akira Yamaoka>have physical, original SH2/SH3 PC DVD versions>could take a pic with him, have him sign my stuff and maybe ask him 1-2 questions>all these for about $70Should I do it? It's pretty cool but I am also not super stocked to go through this "mechanical" meet and greet where you pay, take a pic and most likely not being able to speak with the guy because of Japanese not speaking English.
The horror of falling asleep when you didn’t want to
>>564944337How do you have this chance exactly?
>>564944337The signatures alone would be worth it if you ever want to sell either copy in question.

hmm...
So, I think I'm probably halfway through the game. I'm playing on Hard.I really don't understand how that other anon was having such a hard time. I've been killing everything I see too.I will say that while I don't mind there not being a connected item box, a disconnected one would be great, along with being able to freely pick up and put things down. Like a lite real survivor, but the entire game is actually designed around it.I wish we'd have gotten more games that iterated on 0's design concepts.
>>564953239He was mad bcuz bad and it was as simple as thatFor example complaining about "respawning zombies" when what actually happens is you enter a room, see a bunch of dead bodies in a zombie game, and somehow don't think that they'll reanimate at some point later in the game. Or having Rebecca set to attack mode with a grenade launcher equipped against a mimicry marcus, then being surprised when, after refusing to kill them with fire, the leeches break apart on the floor and Rebecca then starts wasting grenades on them.0 isn't a particularly difficult game unless you're painfully retarded outside of two instances of actually bad game design.>mfw no gf to play RE0 coop with
>>564953558>>564953239The game is so shit even capcom pretends it never happened.Keep crying.

>>564958136>Of your compositions, I know you've said that Silent Hill 2 was the score you were most proud of, but which score for you was the most interesting, or maybe, the most difficult for you to work on? Why?
>>564932248Yes
>>564953558I realized that Mimicry Marcus' are kind of bitchmade. On Hard it takes 3 molotovs or flame grenades to kill them. But if you give Rebecca the molotovs, since Billy can fire the Grenade Launcher faster, you can nail him with a flame grenade, Rebecca will hit him with a molotov right after, then you can just blast him immediately with a third flame grenade keeping him totally stunlocked. It's nice that Rebecca throws Molotovs at the same speed as Billy, it's probably the one instance where she's not total dogshit at combat compared to him.I'm pretty sure that I should leave the grenade launcher behind once I run out of flame grenades though. I have 3 explosive grenades and 1 acid grenade left after doing the hunter gauntlet, but I don't see them being particularly useful to cart around after I finish up this wing of the training facility and then fight the rest of the eliminators.
