I didn't think blightfall was all that long in terms of progression, but the final push to clear everything was tedious since your only options were moving a multiblock structure that did a couple chunks at a time. I was able to put my dawn machine on an airship and had an enderchest supplying jars of the essentia to run it, it did crash a couple times but worked out overall.

I always thought there should have been megastructures that cleanse the area in a progressively larger radius, kind of like how the space elevator works in Satisfactory. Don't let the player choose where it goes because then they could just metagame and dot a lot of small ones around instead of having to ramp up processing to supply enough materials for the big ones.

Damn, I kind of want a standalone game Blightfall like Subnautica/Satisfactory. The main problem is that modded minecraft just provides a much broader choice of options for solving a given task because you're bending a dozen mods to the purpose. In a novel game, everything you add is part of an explicit design and you end up with a furnace whose only purpose is refining 1 ore.

Autistpack over the sea is almost done, just a few recipes to write and other trivial decisions to make. I haven’t tested 90% of the pack, rather I’m just assuming it works as intended. Maybe the magic book mod will turn out to be overpowered or crash with airships, idk. There’s no electricity, no questbook, no farmer’s delight. I can add higher tech tiers later on.

But with an existing (arguably worse) void island pack already with a server, plus pathserb, and that shitty vs2 server, I don’t really want to split playership even further. If there’s specifically demand for a US-west, Aus, or east-Asia hosting that’s another matter. Maybe I host a server locally for my friends and anyone else deals with 400ms ping to NZ.

Shift right click the pipe connections. The only issue Mek pipes bring is how they store their contents so you have to keep emptying the pipeline out to then be able to re-connect it to empty pipes, and I remember gas pipes being especially bad because they remember their contents and stick with it so you almost have to finish the pipes before outputting anything. But that was several years back so it must be better by now.

I'll do my best to live up to expectations. I'm at like 160 mods, but a decent fraction of that is client-side or minor tweak mods.

I installed a modpack .zip earlier that gave me the opportunity to download optional mods, also it was a tiny file that just had config files and other overrides. Is that possible to do via exporting from PrimsLauncher or an equivalent? Or can I only do that with Curseforge/Modrinth? I have mods from both platforms.

I don't at the moment, sheep are relatively common and flax growth would be seasonal (without a greenhouse), but it might still be a good idea. Climbable ropes is something I'd like, especially if you can easily place them below yourself.

I have enough disposable income (part time retail lmao) to pay for a server, but there is somewhat of a conflict between hosting it where I'd get good ping, compared to hosting it where other anons would get good ping. US West is probably an acceptable compromise, unless anons have any objections to that. Serene seasons I have not played with, could be interesting. How long does each season last in game?

offline mode itself is built in to minecraft, you just need to set online-mode=false in server.properties
it doesn't include an alternative form of authentication by default, which is what auth mods actually are
griefing has never been an issue on any /mmcg/ server I've participated in but if you're paranoid it's an option
I wouldn't strongly recommend any auth mods except seamlessauth and wawelauth but those are both for 1.7.10
authlib injector is version agnostic I believe but it's more hassle to set up on the client
DirectAuth is probably fine I guess but command based authentication (i.e. /login) is fundamentally flawed
also if you use an actual VPS to host the server you should also put the modpack download on that VPS so that you don't have to post a catbox link everytime (publishing backups on said website is also a good redundancy measure)

If it's a dealbreaker for some and the rest wouldn't mind it, I guess I could add it. Could you give me a sales pitch as to why I should add "definitely not pam's harvestcraft"? Relaxing farming gameplay isn't a terrible thing to go alongside a kino airship pack, but if the result is people hermiting and not going out to fly, it may detract from the pack.

Authlib injector solves this by replacing Microsoft auth library, SeamlessAuth does it by hijacking the login handshake and Wawel hooks into the vanilla authlib code
the key thing here is that they all hijack the auth process before a player is created for the client and the server will just disconnect clients who don't authenticate immediately

The spawning in using DirectAuth does seem like that, you can't move and can't see anything. Well, if it works I don't see any reason to complain, unless it messes with Curios inventory slots or something. It's a mod that only needs to be server-side after all (I included it in the zip without disabling it lmao). But if you are associated with an authentication server, it will automatically authenticate you after the first time. I've had this work fine with official minecraft servers, but I have no clue about ely.by or whatever, if that doesn't work then yeah it seems too clumsy, and also likely to fail if you log-out on an airship.

Looks like Authlib Injector exists for modern versions, I assume the .jar will work with 1.21.1?

I would recommend, if you aren't too paranoid, to not bother with an auth mod initially; of course, if griefing actually becomes an issue it usually isn't hard to add

Farmer's delight only adds 3 new crops, and most recipes build off vanilla items instead of dumping a bazillion redundant ingredients. high tier foods actually do something, like nourishment buff that stops saturation drain for a few minutes instead of just being another reskinned steak. I have no problem with a /register and /login. Works perfectly well on pathserb except when people forget their password. Farmers delight, ok. Has good decoration stuff. I'm a little bored of it myself but no strong feelings for or against. No need to nerf the effects or the rich soil (which is good but insanely timeconsuming to make in any quantity whatsoever).

Yeah that's what I meant by slightly annoying, all it needs is some infra. If you already have free creosote and free redstone then it's easy. If not then oil is also free once you get mining rigs (again I don't know GTNH though).

Lube is just generally not an expensive or hard to get resource, you just need to bother setting up the processing for it.

the weird chinese(?) unofficial fork of MCA on 1.12 just got an update that adds the word "teen" to the title of every villager profession for some reason.
It also adds in genes which control npcs' height and weight like in 1.7.10... as well as apparently their melanin count and pheomelanin count (which according to google controls for hair color).
A bit weird but also pretty cool. Not really backwards compatible with villagers from the official port of MCA. They get weird artifacts all over their hair.

You will log back on in the vessel. But if it's taking fuel to stay aloft (as with the hot air burner fuel addon) I'm not sure. Staying aloft with redstone power alone seems kinda cheaty, defeats the reason to use steam vents because you can just spam them.

Very cool. Seems like the laser doesn't play well with complimentary shaders though, oh well. I wonder if, with coloured dynamic lights (not that I ever bother) it could illuminate based off the colour of the laser? Or if there's a sensible way of preventing it from lighting anything up? Black dye is my suggestion for that last one at least, since black dye already makes the beam invisible. Doesn't look like stained/tinted glass affects the beam at all, does your raycast ignore transparent blocks? Does it crash when you point it up in the air or into the void?

i have overestimated my power generation from natural gas by a factor of several and as soon as i upgraded one EBF to EV power everything shut down

the issue is the raw gas supply. i can increase it by half by swapping it over to HV power, but that's not very much and also quadruples the drilling rig's consumption
the next tier of rig also uses hv power and gives 16x the product, which is pretty real, but it takes titanium which i don't have set up yet

Basically the plan, there's a fair amount of datapacks, I just ideally need .schem files though since they have biome/palette fields. I have a basic converter but it's kind of shit. Basically, geenrate a footprint mask png from the schem if the building isn't within a certain rectangle bound -> reject placement past a certain slope-ness, smooth terrain if it nearly fits so it has somewhere to sit. There's a lot of improvements that can be done for placement/smoothing but it functions pretty well minus the whole no villagers and no paths thing but both of those are pretty trivial to add (r-right?)

Worst decision of my life but the structure loader now supports massive structures and correctly deforms terrain so they don't have weird looking stilts and actually spawn in past the 3x3 limit. Not the most optimized (yet) but should be better than other mods and it's not like terrain diffusion is a lightweight thing anyway.
