APHO was 100% a mistake. Like the gameplay and DMC-like combat was great but the mere concept of having an epilogue to your game that isn't even close to done is the absolute most retarded thing you could do and limits your storywriting by a lot on top of making the main story lose impact since you already know how things are going to go due to the epilogue. Having all the characters grown up or replaced is extremely dangerous territory too because nobody ever likes that shit. Look at how most of the Terifags either quit, moved to genshin or are in eternal coping mode trying to justify for themselves that it's fine and that it's better than nothing.Kolosten was absolutely fucking awful with bait and switch PVs, terrible tweests with even worse execution, technobabble everywhere and you can often find someone that quit around this patch too.
