Just got done playing the first 3 cases of D1, so I'll share my thoughts on them. >1Fine. Sayaka and Leon are nothing characters really, but it's Chapter 1 so what can you do. The reveal that Sayaka lured Leon is played pretty well, and is the most fun twist of the case. I always found the reasoning of "why would I do that if I was the killer?" to be a weak defense (in reference to the notion that Makoto wouldn't use the lint roller or bust his door down) because the killer COULD do that to make that very excuse. Trial's easy. Hangman gambit is easy. The comic fucking sucks, I hate the comics. Bullet time battle is easy.>2Best one out of the 3. Byakuya's an asshole but for some reason I like him. Probably because he's funny. Chihiro is a sad victim, and overall it's a pretty tragic case. Investigation was sound, trial logic was pretty sound, nothing stuck out as being particularly retarded. Chihiro and Mondo could have been developed more; having Chihiro do more before his death would have been nice, since he is inherently likable, but it doesn't hit very hard. I feel like maybe this case should have been switched with 3 so Alter Ego could have been foreshadowed better (literally out of nowhere if you don't do Chihiro's 3rd FTE) AND you could connect more with both Chihiro and Mondo. Something I wish they'd do would make it so that you figure out the motive DURING the trial, and not have it dumped on you immediately afterwards. That would have been cool here. I feel like them mentioning that Mondo could have immediately gave himself in to keep Chihiro's secret would add to the sadness though, I'd like to know how he'd respond to that.

Feels like her faking interest and having such a shallow motive actively removes depth from her? They could have came up with something better. Only nice thing you can say about her is she wasn't a snitch. Hifumi also isn't very sympathetic because he was willing to doom his friends after some light pushing and manipulation, which is strange because Makoto goes "she killed our friends so I don't pity her, but she was our friend once..." implying Hifumi gets a free pass.

There's something to be said about the way people interact with video games and media in general online. Despite the fact the Project Eden has literally been cancelled and doesn't actually exist as a work, it is being talked about as if it's an actual thing and not just a bunch of ideas being thrown around. That's not me trying to be a hater or anything, it's fun. But it does go to show that fanbases seem a lot less interested in playing games and more just interested in the artwork surrounding the game to the point that you can get people becoming fans of characters of games that technically don't even exist or liking plot points from plots that have never actually been formulated into a story.
