I've heard rumours of the kink also being somewhat circular, like the money is more or less shifting between the same friends or whatever. On the other hand, there are anecdotes of at least one person casually dropping 200,000 in one day, whether that was Lindens or real money isn't clear but I guess it wouldn't surprise me either way.

Some pondering on the matter makes me think if third-worlders trying to make it big and/or money laundering plays a part in its ubiquity. Which I guess ultimately stems back to the game having digital funny money facilitating it in the first place.

It's a thing that happens in the real world. Street performers do it because they noticed people don't want to be the first ones to donate money. So they throw in $5 of their own money and notice people are now more willing to give them money since there's already money in the tip jar. I suppose it's the same with findom. You don't want to give a literally who that just decided to do findom your money, you want to make sure they're an experienced findomme that actually knows what they're doing.

I've seen a few odd self-proclaimed findoms with accounts barely weeks old with no payment info before, and yet have the most riced-up avatars and profiles that a newbie would never have without serious handholding. Whereas I'd assume that a 'F2P' approach would have a sizeable hobo phase of simply trying to get by on assorted free shit of varying quality before landing a big enough fish (and getting a good read on the market), there's definitely people making alts for the job too.

I used to work sl strip clubs and this shit happens for sure. On slow nights I'd try get a friend to come sit and chill in the club so I'd have someone to chat and flirt with, then I'd give them my own money to put back in my jar. I feel like it's kind of a combination of the two. Maybe someone played for a while and says 'fuck it, I'm tired of buying things myself. ' makes an alt, dresses it how they like with gifts from their main, and bam- Fresh findom account for free lindens.
At the end of the day though I just still never understand it. You might get some money from it, but you still have to do at least SOMETHING for the freaks that pay you. It's like a rube goldberg machine version of selling fake love/sex/attention for money, and unless you are into that, it just seems way easier to just get any fucking job to make the money.
