The world's worst orphanage is actually looking almost passable now.

Deathresting duration is directly tied to a bed's sleep quality, as I learned from the triple coffin bed in MUS Vampire Furniture. A legendary version has ~400% rest effectiveness bonus which cuts your deathrest time down to just over a day. Feels very cheaty but is pretty much required for medieval sanguophages who don't have access to all of the fancy addons due to no electricity.

Elida and the orphans have finally been joined by another adult in exchange for it raining until the middle of summer. It's a sand goblin. Goblins in general are as small as fluffkin but instead of being small and weak they are outrageously dangerous, especially in melee. They're also extremely uncouth and socialize by beating the shit out of their friends so we'll see how this works out.

The random wanderer reward from the ritual really loves giving me bad pawns.

At least she is not a complete retard like Verseere (she has 1 intellectual) so I can have her research.
Food is not an issue here, it's a 45/60 growth period map and with a lot of Archean trees. It also has hotsprings to have her hide in winter.

I had single walls placed next to each other in parallel and series with one space between, snipers in back, rifles and ghouls at front.
That was the killbox cover for pawns.
For more open front, I just place pawns behind covers and moved them when needed.
Upgraded ghouls are great bullet sponges.
I didn't use all the pawns in combat, usually raids weren't that bad and I rarely needed more than 15 in fight.

I rather use it on defense whenever a big raids pops
I haven't really done non-vanilla faction raids in ages. The best I can tell you is drop pod a few dudes into a faction base to see what gets generated. That way you get a better idea on what to find and how many animals are out there. Then reload the save.
most anons here play heavily modded games. I doubt many can give you an accurate description of what a vanilla faction base looks like.

Yes, it's from Odyssey, those trees are Archean trees.
Archean trees are a special tree that creates a fertile land radius and oxygen (if you have an asteroid base), but they can't be replanted.
Luckily, these trees have self regen so as long as you properly protect them, you can have a very fertile land.
Those puddle of water are hot springs. The mood bonus from bathing in it is very bad, just +2 so I put a mod that gives it +6. It has beauty, but since it doesn't count as floor, you can't have a hot spring temple nor throne. Also, hot springs are a weaker version of a steam geyser so your pawns will have a heatstroke if you are not careful.

It's a measure of how kickable a pawn's ass is.
Anything lower than 5 makes them more vulnerable than normal while higher than 5 starts reducing the damage they take and how fast they bleed out.
In the spirit of Kenshi, they can improve this skill by getting their ass kicked.

It's really not that bad, at worst it's just resource intensive at the start of the game to set up water sources, plumbing and bathrooms if you want something resembling modern amenities as soon as possible since it all uses a ton of your starting steel. You can just go the latrine route if you need to save on materials early on, you just need to sort out waste management instead of piping it out to your growzones and forgetting about it.

Royalty was very divisive at the time.
The psycast system without mods is awful.
People didn't really like the empire faction at first with its space feudalism and annoying throne room / attire requirements.
I remember a lot of people switching it off when it was the only DLC and telling people not to buy it.
Its gotten better over time though and with mods like vanilla psycasts expanded its one of the better dlcs to have.

The psycasting system in vanilla was supposed to let tribal pawns go up against the empire. Its just shit at doing that because base game psycasting is so bad.

Its a known TPS hog due to shit optimization, just existing brings it down. Completely overpowered and makes the game a joke, a singular good psycaster can let you win any raid even against psychically deaf enemies.

Has massive compatibility issues, Empire is retarded with the way it works since it'll send cataphract tier enemies at you independent of the raid system. Which leads to situations where you get an early tribal raid with a cataphract deserter thrown in because VE:E wanted to send one, complete death sentence in CE if it happens early enough. Not even opposed to the idea of deserters mixed into the regular raids, its just that all deserters are cataphract tier with no trooper level equivalent. VE Deserter is completely worthless unless you make an entire playthrough around it as it adds no passive content

Subjectively I'd rank them as: Biotech > Ideology > Odyssey > Anomaly > Royalty
Biotech and Ideology enable you to play any kind of colony that you want. Styles and memes also makes every faction feel unique. Odyssey allows for low population/high tech nomadic playthroughs which was missing from the base game. Royalty and Anomaly are good for themed runs (especially Anomaly) but both have the problem where content is so railroaded that once you've completed their questlines once or twice there's nothing more to experience. Neither are bad but Royalty was the first DLC and I think Tynan was really banking on people making huge mods with Anomaly's framework which never panned out.

When you say soloing a raid are you talking about like 5 guys or like 30 guys? Because a grenade launcher will rip through an entire midgame raid whereas a level 1 psycast is not doing shit. Soloing like 5 guys isn't even impressive or overpowered when a pawn thats decent at shooting will solo raids with a basic bitch rifle.

Deserters is a cool idea with dogshit execution, the missions have insane difficulty scaling, main "story" is just doing the same 20 something missions until you get to kill the emperor, intel (the currency used to buy missions and other stuff) having expiration date forces you to keep taking missions which raises your visibility which makes them even harder, or if you tap out for a while you gotta hope you get a random one which is very rare
I think it's designed with the assumption you're using psycasts expanded so you can just blast everything away with your OP powers, but if you don't then I can't recommend it
