It plays well into do-nothing Priests and DKs, that's about the highest praise I can give it. Quest Mage has the advantage of being a value deck which gets to its pay-off fairly quickly and tends to end the game not long after.The way these cards were designed, in addition to the poor synergy in the current Mage set, gives me very little hope for their future.

I've been playing some Leyline mage and it's sort of fun but suffers from Blizzards being so afraid of making cards that are good.The entire deck doesn't even star working until you draw and play Surge Needle and for it to work Surge Needle would need to have something that lets you tutor it.Second except for the draw Leyline the Leylines are massively overcosted. Damage should cost 3 and summon 5, and honestly the lists I've seen don't even run the summon leyline.And finally Arcanomicon is too expensive. It should be 6 mana, or it should get affected by the 4/2's effect and gets its cost reduced as well.As it is this is just another failed mage archetype that will be forgotten as they pivot to a completely different package in the next expansion. Which is sad because at its core this can probably work and it's a fluffy archetype for Mage to have, it feels distinctly Mage-y.
Quest mage makes me feel like a lone intellectual facing down hordes of retarded niggercattle. Pure diaper ecstasy.

Alright so our miniset, with reduced cards and classes so "we can deliver a stronger theme for each class" has had the following impact.Companion Hunter is a greedy deck that at least beats Druid. But it's irrelevant, because Paladin did that already with a better matchup spread since it doesn't instalose to aggro. DOA.Leyline Mage is even worse. Genuinely pre-buff Rafaam levels of performance in the sub 40s. DOA.Dude Paladin is a strictly inferior version of the current Paladin decks. It's playable, but has the same gameplay, strengths and weaknesses as the meta Paladin deck. DOA.The best performing version of Merithra doesn't run Heartroot Scales, but you might possibly feasibly perchance maybe potentially conceivably potentially substitute press the advantage for them. Impact is most likely sub 0.5%. Rest of cards are useless.Best part? Paladin, Mage and Hunter cards are a package, so if they aren't good now they will never be since they won't get any support down the line, and Druid cards are just trash in general.So far, these class sets make Un'goro seem like an earthshattering meta nuke. Holy fuck this game is honestly so in the shitter.
